God Bless the Hoss folks. They have completely changed my gardening experience. Born & rasied in Waveland, Ms... could gadren whenever I wanted too. Just swing by and picked up a double wheel hoe last Friday. Got it home and used it till I didn't have enough daylight nor garden space left. It's an amazing tool!!
I just love y'all so much! Every show is always informative and inspiring, and you always joke with each other. I got my brassicas bundle today. I ordered late on the 20th, and got them in 2 days. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE PLANTS ARRIVED FRESH AND BEAUTIFUL!! They looked like they were just pulled from the trays and brought to my doorstep. I planted all of them except for some kale and cabbage. I spritzed the remainder with water, wrapped them back up, and they will get planted tomorrow. I will be ordering some of your trays for seed starting. I was really impressed with the root system on the plants. All were growing to a perfect point. I loved getting outside, and I got dirty, lol. Your company, and both of you ABSOLUTELY ROCK!!
Thank you Momma Hoss you wishing spring time would come old goat's like the ground hog sticken his head up behind the spring sign. Have a blessed week. Thank you
Thanks again for another informative show. Grow lights have been the ticket to getting my plants started right. I see the old goat hiding behind Mrs Hoss on the second shelf up from the bottom behind the sign.
Good info on the grow lights it’s not as complicated as most make it out to be thanks for setting us straight. The old goat is behind the so excited it’s spring sign
Really appreciate this show. Now I know what I did last year (my first year with grow lights). I had the lights too high and all my plants were leggy. Thanks to yall that won't happen this year. My plugs arrived yesterday and they are super nice, Thanks. Old goat behind sign behind Mama Hoss's left shoulder. Yall have a Blessed day.
Almost overlooked the old g9at. But eventually I found him! Behind the sign that says "so excited it's spring".... Thanks for the "leggy" info. I needed it.
Took me a little while tonight, but spotted the old goat hiding just over Momma Hoss' shoulder behind the "So excited it's Spring" sign. Also, thank you for all the tips & tricks you guys provide!👍🙂
Well, the Old Goat is behind the "So Excited it's spring" sign behind Mama Hoss on the 2nd shelf. My best solution to leggy plants has been to keep them close to my seed starting LED grow lights once they emerge from the soil. I have high intensity LED sunlight spectrum balanced grow lights and this has been the best solution to prevent leggy plants I've found (mine are T5 replacement type LED's). Once the first set of true leaves emerge, I start to water/fertilize with a 25 to 50% solution of "Jack's 3-2-1" and as the plants grow, keep them close to the LED lights (start at 25% fertilizer strength and as they grow increase to 50% solution at their 150ppm fertigation rate). LED grow lights are so much brighter and less expensive to run and like Greg said, you can get all sorts of "spectrum" type combinations (color of the light). Plus they run so much cooler until you get into the super high powered LED lights which need a heat sink and fans (usually for serious indoor full size plant growing). Instead of moving my lights up and down, I have foam spacers that I put under the plant trays to move them closer to the lights. That lets me have trays that have more than one type/size/age plant under the same light setup and each tray is a custom distance from the lights. My spacers are 1" thick, so adjustment is easy to keep the plants thick, stocky and happy. I made a dedicated seed starting stand from a chrome wire rolling shelf unit with 3 sets of LED lights over each level. Works well for multiple trays of the 12 or 24 cell Hoss trays and all the PropTek trays/flats as well. I run my lights on a timer from 7AM to 11PM (16 hours a day) and some plants remain under the lights even after up-potted from the multi-cell trays until they are moved outside to harden off before planting.
The Old Goat is hiding behind the sign that says "So excited it's spring we wet our plants.". I just put our edamame plants under the grow light today. Your seeds are great, they germinated in 3-1/2 days with a Hoss heat mat under them. Thank you for the great service and excellent gardening advice.
My grandma and grandpa never had heat lamps or heat pads and used old milk cartons to start tomatoes in and everything else by seed in the soil. They always had beautiful gardens ! And survived on them.
There are many things you can direct seed and we do that as well. They are certainly many different ways to start seeds. Love to hear how our elders did things.
@@gardeningwithhoss true ! They didnt have access to these things we have today ! Lots of things today and availability to their wisdom ! We have the best of it all
Hi guys! I thought of you this morning, when I was reading a plant sheet on cucurbits from University of Illinois. (I live in NC), anyway ...here is a joke from the bottom of the above mentioned article... Knock, knock Who's there? Cantaloupe Cantaloupe who? Cantaloupe tonight; dad has the car! Looking forward to the next Row by Row!
Great info as usual! I have a few plants started under my grow lights right now, and some I have moved to the little greenhouse which are about ready to be planted (collards). It’s raining today, but I really want to get out and get dirty! I see the Old Goat hiding behind the sign next to the little pumpkin behind Ms. Sheila. Thank you!
Started my hot peppers about 2 wks ago noticed some just popping through and moved them under the lights tonight! Old goat is behind Sheila and peeking over the sign!
As always another informative as well as entertaining video. We use T5 grow lights and we have been quite pleased with them for years. Every now and again we do run into the leggy plant issue. In about to or three weeks we will be starting our peppers and tomatoes indoors. Definitely going to follow your directions, Thank You. The Old Goat got a bit craftier this week. Although still behind Mama Hoss and sneaking a peek over the sign!
The laughter was so catchey. Oh, and the leggy info was a thing that you may have inspired me to just toss um.... argh, but I reckon it is what it is. Will it be a 2024 New Year's resolution or will I get do it heretofore? Thanks for the encouragement. (Silly ol' peekaboo Old Goat on the right side, 2nd shelf up behind the sign.)
The old goat is behind the "so excited it's Spring" has my name ever gone in the drawing? My Hossinator tomatoes came and I am ready to get them started. I use the grow lights to get them going, then I put them out in the sun.

It was 84 in eastern NC today, but I still have my plug trays under grow lights. We'll see highs in the 50s again soon, and the trays are a little easier to manage indoors. Old Goat is hiding behind the spring sign.
It took me a while tonight. I kept thinking the hand mixer behind Mr. Greg was the Old Goat, but, he's peeking over the middle of the sign behind Mama Hoss.
Well my eyes are not as good as they use to be but your old goat is behind the long white sign at Ms Hoss’s shoulder. Thanks for the information about leggy plants that was my biggest problem I had last year.

Old Goat is behind the Excited it's spring sign . Been getting dirty all day today, and I'm probably jumping the gun a little early this year, but I Couldn't resist. I transplanted some Kohlrabi into my raised bed today, and went ahead and planted 2 varieties of my Taters. I planted my peppers back at the end of January and they are looking fantastic now. They are already forming their second set of true leaves and i'm throwing some watered down fertilizer to em. Also, I started my fan across em so they can strengthen up. One thing that I'd like to know, Is if growing seeds indoors, And you keep the lights on them the entire time. Once it warms up outside, can you just take them straight outside and transplant or is there a period of hardening the plant off to acclimate it to the sun?
Can i just purchase the 12 cell tray you were showcasing with the light kit? that's literally the perfect tray I've been looking for all over the internet

i do not have grow lights but i do have a huge skylight in my kitchen above my island--tons of light --or if it is not too cold i could take them outside during the day --would either one work?-- i have no room to set up grow lights --my house is about 850 square feet--my pantry takes up the spare room and the light is only good in the kitchen and the bathroom(skylights)--the bathroom is full off houseplants!!
