Old goat is in front of Greg's garden sign! We made another Hoss order today! We ordered more of the 162 seed starting planting cells ! Bought the 5 pack with the bottom plates and we ordered lots of cucumber seeds! Everybody we sell produce to loves them Max Pack! They will not stop producing all summer! My greenhouse will be here tomorrow! Can't wait so excited! Thanks so much for being a great company with great products and being there and doing your customers right! Thanks again and Praying for all of us a prosperous season! Marlene a Farmer from SC
I have a sharp finger that I got from the North American hunting club about 20 years ago. It doesn't say Schrade or old timer but it's a heck of a knife and I've cleaned many a deer over the years with it
Old Goat is in the middle of Greg's Garden over Sheila's left shoulder. We really appreciate your starting tips!!! And the short day onions are doing fabulous!
I know I will have a great garden season this year because I'll be gardening in my "get dirty" socks that I won a couple of weeks ago. Thank you Greg and Sheila.😊😊
Old Goat is standing tall and proud behind Mama Hoss in front of Greg's garden sign. I successfully grew celery this season for the first time in many years. Yah!
Great show on a timely topic! “Hydrophobic” is the word you were looking for, Greg, I do believe. So funny the you chose the Sharp Finger tonight, I was just going back and forth with friends about them tonight! I got mine in 75 or 76 and paid about $16 if I remember right. It’s my absolute “go to” for light to medium skinning (and some kitchen work!). Carbon is our friend! 😉
Here in TN Zone 7a I have 24ft of asst pea seeds in, 54 broccolini starts going and 38 strawberry bareroots growing for a Greenstalk tower and 15lbs of Hoss seed potatoes in 12 - 7 gallon grow bags.. I use one of my poly tunnels as season extending which allows me to get a jump on Spring crops. The raised beds are all cleaned up, amended and ready for planting. it sure feels good working out in the greenhouse though after what seems a cold winter especially with all that mild weather we've bee having.
I have trouble getting hot peppers to germinate, so this year I planted a bunch of different scotch bonnets hoping to get 2-3 plants for each variety. After 12 days, germination on most of them is spotty, but the orange scotch bonnets I got from Hoss are 10/10! I did half in Hoss seed starting mix and half in sifted potting soil, and every single one came up. 😮
Greg’s right about guys our age having a couple of old knives that are special to us. I’ve got two old Schrade knives that I wouldn’t trade for anything. The Old Goat is behind Miss Sheila in front of the Greg’s Garden sign.
Old goat is in front of Greg's garden sign above the green beans. Also I wanted to say I received my double wheel hoe and liked it so much I just ordered another one from you.
Got everything ready to go.tomatoes and peppers germinating and was so excited for planting time.found out I am going to have another round of chemo and a bone marrow transplant.so no garden this year but will next year will be following all your all's garden love the hoss community
My biggest seed starting "mistake" this year has been starting 72 pepper plants and just as many tomato plants. 😆 I don't know why but I'm looking forward to giving some away just as much as I am growing them out.
I love seed starting season. I have lots of seeds in my fridge for cold stratification including my milkweed seeds. I am glad you are carrying the microgreen trays now. I just bought some from another place though. I'm growing mine on silicone mats. They work awesome. All reusable and I have had great success. I just love y'all. Ordered tumeric and cannot Wait to plant that. Wish you could get some ginger too. ❤️ My Elephant garlic is on its second year. I harvested last year and replanted all of it this past year to increase my crop. It's doing AWESOME. Also got a head start on my hibiscus. I can never get it to flower before frost. I am hopeful this year.💪 Keep pumping out all your knowledge. I'm listening.🥰
Old goat is in front of the Gregs Garden sign....Zone 8a and I have my peppers planted and about 75% germinated. No true leaves yet, but I have already moved them outside to my greenhouse when the temps are right, and my tomatoes are already planted but haven't came up yet. I have them in my grow box now hoping to germinate the seeds since it's getting too hot during the day in the greenhouse.
Oh I can't wait it's about time to dig the grow lights and drive my family nuts cause they can't use the basement for a few weeks as it becomes my grow room 😉 ole goat is in front of Sheila's garden sign
Old goat in full view by mamma hoss. In front of Gregg’s gardens sign. lol. I’m in zone 6 n chomping at the bit to start but know better and last year we had two “freezes” in spring that messed me up bad. But starting n breccias inside now. Will put out soon.
Thank y'all. Enjoying the knife of the week. Still have my Eastwood knife my father gave me almost 45 years ago. Yes I'm old. 😂. Mr old goat is in front of the Greg's garden sign. Can't wait to start our seeds this weekend. Wishing y'all a blessed day.
My usual gardening mistake is that I get too excited and plant things too early. Last year I had tomatoes that were over a foot tall already and it wasn't even time to plant them outside yet, so they were starting to overgrow my rackspace and lighting. This year Im trying to pull the reins back a little so that doesn't happen again. But I am in the beginning stages of planting my pepper seeds a little at a time. Last year I had the worst luck with BER on my tomatoes and I wonder if that could have been caused from not enough ferts in the early stages of them growing in those pots indoors? I did fertilize them but I am sure it lacked the calcium that was needed? I don't know. I see the Old Goat in front of Gregs Garden sign!!! Love your show!!!!
Old goat is right on the shelf over Mama Hoss's shoulder, and they are matching clothes today! Time to put my Hoss Tool socks on and get to planting here! Planting potatoes tomorrow. 😁
Old goat is right behind Mama Hoss’s left shoulder. Love the knife of the week! Alabama Damascus makes some fine steel. Have got plenty of compliments on my collards(Top Bunch2.0 & Ga Southern) Green magic broccoli and have turned a buddy onto cabbage that previously didn’t like it with the Cheers cabbage. Can’t thank you enough for all you do for us all Greg and Sheila.
Thank you , Mrs Sheila and Mr.Greg Our onions are doing amazing once again we bought from yall , We started our Tomatoes, peppers, herbs 3 weeks ago , I hate snipping off the extras so I uppot and have a plant sale for our area , for those that dont have the set up yet, We usually sell for $1.50-$2 a plant which is surely a great price, as at wally world this year they are selling 1 Tomatoe plant $4.97 1- pepper etc...$4.97 -we give alot away when children come over ,as we want them to learn . We see the old goat 🐐 out in the open today after all these years ,right infront of Gregs garden sign. We truly appreciate all your great content . Mrs josette Tharp Montgomery County, Texas 🙏
The old goat is right in front of Greg's garden sign. I have a bad habit is over watering my seedlings.....I have to remind myself to walk away. Also, I didn't stratify my chamomile seeds and still got great germination....lucky I guess.
Inject all the seeds into my veins! I'm excited about the seeds I bought from y'all, too. I already filled up the 5 pack of 162's I ordered from y'all. Happy homesteading! 🙏🏻❤️
I grew celery for the first time last year and it turned out great. I grew Utah Tall. The seeds have germinated in our cool basement. I spray it with a lite mist. I had too much to eat so this year I'm planning to freeze dry the left overs. I broke the rules on stratification rules and my seeds have come up regardless. My Echinacea and Chamomile are coming up now and i did not cold stratification of them. Go figure. I grew Echinacea last year from seed the traditional way and they actually bloomed the first year. I also saved the plant and left it in the container. It didn't bloom the second year but, I kept it alive and watered it and it will probably flower this year. C
Old goat is standing in front of Greg"s Garden sign. I have been shopping on the Hoss web site today trying to make up my mind on more, more, more seeds. Go Dogs.
We just started our tomato seeds indoor today. We will be planting 32 tomato plants in our garden this year. We are planting fifteen different varieties. All will be inderterminants, except the dwarf Red Robin which we got from Hoss. Tomorrow we start a good variety of brassicas as well as our peppers. We plan on putting out about 150 pepper plants outside this year. We have been doing bottom watering for years and we are VERY pleased with our system. Our biggest (out of many) mistake that we make with indoor starts is them getting root bound. Time to take the plants outside and plant then we "decide" to give them a couple more days which might turn into 7-10 days. Some people say that they are stuck between a rock and a hard spot. This week it looks like the Old Goat is stuck between Grag and the Garden, Interesting!
Great Hint: The Kitchen Grow Light from Hoss is a great traveling light kit! My starts have traveled other places in FL & to Tennessee. Tomatoes & peppers are being started tomorrow- Fri. Mon they are taking a trip! The tomatoes may pop before then but maybe not & peppers definitely may not. Either way, they travel in light kit well & if they have already popped, or pop while we're gone, they can immediately be put under the light. I prefer to travel w/them after they pop. Keeping tomatoes & peppers warm enough til they pop while traveling is a concern but gonna try. I am not going to chance coming home to leggy plants! Last year tomatoes had not popped one morning; left home & came back in afternoon to leggy tomatoes! Had to start over! Not happening again if I can help it! Thanks for great products & gardening advice!
Hey y'all from Houston. I feel like we are behind on getting our seeds started. Gotta get it done tomorrow. That old goat is boldly in front of the Greg's Garden sign.
Ok, I have a question.... Since the Ole Goat came back from his vacation in Florida, he seems to be staying away from Greg. Could he still be a little wary after the "incident"? Just saying.... Today he is in front of Greg's sign, but behind Mama Hoss. Standing out in public, where it's safe because everyone is watching him. Saying Sakata came out with a new tomato variety is like saying Greg got a new knife, we expect it. I will be interested in how Yellow Boy Plus turns out as I'm also a fan of Yellow Boy and other orange/yellow tomatoes. As to knives, I would like to see Greg's take on sharpening knives. I tried an experiment with my celery seeds this year. I soaked one set in water for 3 days before planting, and planted the other ones like normal (both planted on same day). The pre-soaked ones came up about a week sooner and are much larger than the standard planted ones. I did put clear food wrap over the cells and hold it to the sides with a rubber band. This let me puff it up like a mini-dome for the humidity. We are planting Yellow Doll, and a new variety of watermelon (new for us) called Cal Sweet Bush. It's supposed to be a short vine bush variety. Going to try them in the raised Olle 17" bed (40x80" set up). For teasing out plants, look at a tool called a "Widger". It slides down next to the root and lets you lift it out without pulling on the plant at all. My favorite seed starting mixes are the SunGro Sunshine mix and the ProMix (I get mine at Ace Hardware - ship to local store). Greg, I know you said those were microgreen trays, but for those who like to plant seeds in a tray and tease them out to up pot them, those small slotted trays and base tray are perfect! Dual use!!!
I need to start my seeds, but the last couple of years I lost too many from starting them too soon. Zone 6 here I think, NE Kansas ... I think I see old goat to Sheila's left?
