Michael Southard Right? Some programs just build a tiny shed and the people are still effectively homeless because they still spend their days looking for a toilet and a wash and food. To function in society and succeed at a job, you need to have these things in your home. This guy is the real deal!
Tiny homes are stupid and in most cases a scam. Building a single unit home will always cost more then an apartment building. There are 4 main parts in construction costs. Material, labor, plot and utilities a single unit uses more material because they don't share a wall or bearing structures, you have to use more labor because each unit requires finishing indipendedly like a roof and it costs more to transport workers from a site to a new site, utilities are cheaper because you don't need separate water, electricity, roads..., And of course since you can get more sqear footage the land is cheaper.

Many are hidden as they couch surf or live in friends garages, but since they did not have savings or superannuation once they are separated from spouses have nothing to fall back on, after focussing on raising families etc.
Just about every city in the US can build this type of system using recycled products or donated building materials plus donated land ,but just keep wasting government spending and money given to other countries ,the elderly sick or unfortunate, need help, makes me shake my head .

One serious problem from where I stand is those who that when they think of housing, immediately think of apartment buildings or 3-4-5 bedroom houses. About 15 years back, my grandma, who was one of my favorite people ever, was going back home in another province. I think she knew it was our last time seeing one another. As she was walking out the door, she stopped and said, "David please learn to live with less". I didn't understand what she REALLY meant for a few years, until watching a show on people buying homes in far away places. A couple found the nicest house you could imagine in Costa Rica. It was beautiful and they loved it, until they got to the master bedroom, with 3 piece bathroom. The master bedroom only had the space for a king bed, dresser drawers and end tables. The husband was fine, but the wife was insanely upset that the bedroom didn't have the space for couches or a sitting area. The husband said they had this already and have never used it. She broke the deal and walked away. Thanks Grandma, I get it now. Those with too much, wanting more space for things they'll never use, when the $10-20,000. they throw away on nothing, could build one or two tiny warm houses, on small private lots. Special mortgages and everyone could have their own private homes and governments can get out of the housing business, where maintenance cost run rampant. My wife and I need 1 bedroom and a small open concept living, dining and kitchen area, that's it.
@@MrHAPPYHAWAIIAN - since your reading comprehension is apparently on the lower end of the scale, let me break it down for you...he said "bedroom" and "living, dining and kitchen" area. That's a bed, couch, table and counter top for four viable surfaces for copulating. Not to mention the floor. Even a small tub can be made to work. That's 5+ options that don't require standing. You're welcome.

When people say things like, “money isn’t important,” I always think about how much we can do as a country if more people believed that it IS. You can’t help others if you’re content with being poor/middle class and, “comfortable.” It’s the most selfish thing you can do. Kudos to this man.
I been laid off from several jobs, depleted my savings trying to have a home. Then I had to go on disability. Currently living as a "seniorsitter" in her home, her family, well to do, hardly bother with her, have room for her in their homes, don't want her there, don't want to take turns watching her. That's where I come in. When she goes to nursing home or dies, I have a younger friend who will let me live with his family, I have half my belongings there now. Grateful for that. Wish I had something of my own. I have to live under rules of others. My friend has his girlfriend, two young kids, which like me, but the kids are 2, the other 3, they are very unkept home life. So I have to live under those conditions. When I had my own place, very well kept apartment. If I could get one of those tiny homes, all I need, want. My physical condition, small would be within my ability to keep it clean and orderly.
@Dan Clark U can actually own one. Just keep looking into it here on RUclips. There are lots of videos regarding tiny homes here on RUclips. There's even a tiny home community on here at RUclips also. Can also check out tiny homes thru Google. Prices do vary. The good thing about tiny homes is that they are way more cheaper than most residential homes that cost over $300,000 dollars. Plus the tiny homes come with wheels so U can have them moved or relocated just about anywhere. Another good thing about tiny homes is that built-in solar panels and propane tanks help to save money on monthly Utility payments. With these 2 items, U won't have to pay for monthly utilities. Also just a heads-up, tiny homes are categorized as a RV so if U want to own one, by State Law, the property or land must be atleast within a 1,400 square feet all around. If in case U don't own a piece of property or land, U can check up on Google for cheap properties but make sure the property or land accommodates the 1,400 feet. There's also websites for tiny home loans that U can look into. As far as paying back the loan, the payments are pretty cheap and U can also request an extension on the loan. There's also website links on the tiny home RUclips channels that will guide U on how to file taxes for your tiny home or even how to turn it into a business. Anyways, look into it and hope this information helps out some 4 ya

What you mean at least something being done for homeless there?...Did you hear them say they have 40 area shelters...thats a lot of shelters...most are filled forist with the women who have children as it should be, he said only about 12 live in the tents, only 30 are on the list for a tiny house. Anyone can give or build a home on the property to help any time it moves them so get busy helping today!!!
These are the kind of parks that cities should allow for anyone who wants to work for a living and avoid renting the rest of their life. Maybe monthly rent for a lot could be as little as $400.00 or something. They should let people build their own according to plans and specs. They could be the owner of the building, and sell it if they wanted to.
There are very good people that somehow end up homeless. Intelligent, sometimes even educated. But they are often surrounded by the mentally ill, criminals and drug addicts. It is a living hell for them. Impossible to rest. Impossible to feel safe. They need a clean and quiet place where they can recover. I hope Second Wind will go through the effort of finding these people.

Two years later, I hope the program is expanding. What a good guy for seeing a problem and acting on it. Too bad that big corporations, like Coca Cola (example off the top of my head) could not sponsor tiny house communities because the tax dollars available only go so far. They sponsor tons of fleeting things like sports events, concerts and special events. Imagine if they sponsored permanent tiny house communities. A little advertising would not hurt in exchange for a beautiful and much needed home.
@@grand_vacation We really need to adopt social programs that work rather than the ones that proved to fail in other countries. Housing first (that first appeared in Finland) is the only way to reduce homeless which in turn is beneficial to the economy because we would be putting those people back into the work force and the formerly homeless would no longer need nearly as much medical attention that costs a lot of money. It’s cheaper to house them unconditionally. As for sexism, it exists in every country unfortunately. If I were to have a wife and I would be going through divorce, I would very likely not be able to get custody because of my gender. It sucks, but I believe we will get over this issue eventually.

Women veterans with kids need help. Hundreds of programs and homes for men veterans.....yet only 3 NATIONWIDE that can help female veterans.
Heard middle aged women are the growing surge in homelessness, that many people don’t recognise. Many are hidden as they couch surf or live in friends garages, but since they did not have savings or superannuation once they are separated from spouses have nothing to fall back on, after focussing on raising families etc.
@@dianebrady6784 Cooks and cleaners don't count as veterans.
There is kindness and greatness in this world. This great man shows us that.
True character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you.
Well done sir.
Im very pleased to hear that Second Wind helps single homeless men. Thumbs 👍 up to Second Wind, c/o Carmene Guidi. Men are people too!!!
Just about every city in the US can build this type of system using recycled products or donated building materials plus donated land ,but just keep wasting government spending and money given to other countries ,the elderly sick or unfortunate, need help, makes me shake my head .
The 70,000 they take for each homeless person goes mostly to themselves. The motive to not get homeless people into tiny homes is huge.
How does this happen in a land of plenty?! It is fortunate that there is a person like Carmen Guidi and others around who try to make a positive difference.
if the top 1 tenth of 1% paid what they truly owe like FICA tax on all earnings over one hundred twenty five thousand dollars, in math terms it’s BILLIONS of dollars -
the poor and underpaid people would not depend on table scraps from the rich, EAT THE RICH - old man mike bengyak
it is also the land of Big government and madd Liberels
Because the leftists put illegal aliens above US citizens.
For many, drugs and mental illness took them down that route.
This professional social worker is so happy to see this taking place. Way to go!
You are a real gentleman
to do this the homeless.
no one should be homeless in America.
God bless you sir...
These kinds of housing are larger than the typical Tiny Houses. And that's good. He's doing noble deeds.
Amen. so true.

God Bless you . I hope that happens for you.
@Dan Clark
U can actually own one.
Tiny home villages would help so many off the dangerous conditions of outdoor weather
I would love to buy up the mobile home parks and transform them into tiny home villages and giving people back a sense of pride in a place to live
The first village, since you have a big yard, grow your own food.
Bless this man for doing God's Work. Seeing this episode 7 years later, I hope Second Chance has expanded and the lives these men have are better today than they were 7 years ago.
I think that's great God bless the one building these homes for the homeless .
God bless God for all his help.Amen.

I would love to see something like this here in the UK, the western nations have alot to answer for in regard to homelessness in the 21st century.
Every state needs these
All areas should have these homes somewhere in a city or community. Thank you to this man who has helped so many.
I was an airforce brat...we lived in tiny houses all of the time...two adults and four kids...it’s doable!
Truly God has touched his heart❤🕊🕆 Great job!
what is all this god stuff ? do we pee on the devil when any wrong is done ?

God bless this man!! i wish there be more people like this!! this world would be a better place to live!!
This one of the main things I'd like to do whether I strike it rich or not!
Tens of thousands of these homes need to be built especially for females and their children
Good job!My town,Greenville,sc has a shocking number of homeless people that live in tents under a bridge. It's shocking a city with hundreds of Mcmansions ignores these people. There are a few shelters and a soup kitchen and yet we still have a tent city. Why?I wish I knew what to do.
john ball DONATE,,, or START YOUR OWN WAY OF GIVING LIFE “ BACK TO OTHERS
Don't matter what size it is, its a home if you make it one..God bless on this...it give independence back to those who need it...love it..xo
Amazing development; amazing man. Yes, if I were in that situation, I would love to live in a tiny home.
Or an even bigger house with a pool.
I too would like to live in a tiny house especially if I don't have to pay property taxes or high rent.
Some communities are tearing them down as an eyesore.
At lest something is being done for the homeless there.
deloris nakiso , no just a few ton homeless live behind local Walmart in tents
This is wonderful. God bless this man for his caring heart and his vision for helping the homeless.
How could we help? Would love to make a donation!!

Very cool, what a great idea that should be many many more of these types of communities with the help of getting these people better and back to work awesome 👍
Thank you to everyone helping the innocent homeless people. And I would love a tiny home. The American government needs to give out free tiny homes to every single American who needs a tiny home.
Most of us are limited by zoning laws, city limitations. Sad.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏I have been homeless and it is beyond horrible thank you Sir for helping...
This needs national attention and something like this should be set up in all cities for the homeless
I’m still poor but I would be willing to offer my time and skills to anybody who needs help
Bc they're such a large Corp. they have to invest in large $$$.
This Gentleman has a Beautiful heart. May God Bless him always !
In 2020 it is time to remember the fact that women are not the only gender with children.
Great point.. last video I watched was about a single dad who made tiny homes for ppl in Los Angeles ugh God bless America :(
@@grand_vacation We really need to adopt social programs that work rather than the ones that proved to fail in other countries.
Brilliant solution to the homeless crisis! Well done! This is wonderful to see the efforts made to solve the housing crisis and to provide shelter for those in need. Changing this crisis, one tiny home at a time! God's blessings on the people who are working hard to make these homes available to the homeless.

This is the only men-only shelter programs I have ever heard of. There are tons of women's shelters, no men's shelters. 80% of the homeless are men, and there is little help for them. Thank you for doing this. I wish I could help.
