- Hey guys!! Today we're working on some New House Projects ... mainly in our bathroom! So we are changing out our old light fixtures with some new ones to help make the bathroom feel more modern. I'm also painting my existing vanity stool to help tie it in with the bathroom vanity that we painted several months ago. I'm also adding in a DIY storage shelf in the toilet room, since our bathroom doesn't have a linen closet, and finally I'm refinishing a thrifted furniture piece to be more my style... but I'll need your thoughts on it, because I'm just not sure on this one! I'm so excited to be focusing on continuing to make our house the cozy home we want to live in, and doing it ourselves feels so good because we can customize it and save lots of money by not hiring the work out! I think you painted the top more like the color of the dark lines it would have brought out the design more. My eyes continue to focus on the lighter color
Hi from Florida😊 Just frame out your mirror by making a frame out of mounding, just remember to paint the underside of the frame because it will be reflected in the mirror. I wonder if you could have the Beyound Paint tinted if you just buy the white? Most places will tint for free, just a thought😊

I do not usually make comments but for some reason feel compelled today. During Covid , my grandson taught me how to use You Tube. What a blessing it has been! I stumbled upon the cleaning genre and began watching your channel. I am 76 years old and watching you clean and organize a house was so refreshing. I didn't expect younger girls to really be into this To my friends I call all of you my you tube girls. I have purchased so many of the products(ecloths and polishers, shark cordless vacuums, all kinds of organizers, etc) you use and they have made my cleaning chores so much easier! The table top looks good. Just apply a wood sealer or topcoat.

If you paint a circle around your paint line that somewhat matches the detail in the middle, it might look really nice.

I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking that painting the lower shelf the same color as the design would make it all look intentional. Someone else also suggested varnishing the design,and I agree.

Amanda, I would just frame the big mirror over your sink/vanity. Put some really nice moulding around it and paint it, and it will look custom and really nice. Maybe even put a middle moulding down the mirror (equidistant between the 2 light fixtures) to make it feel like 2 different mirrors. You can even do some kind of decorative arched moulding to make it look really custom. :)

I agree. Moulding would really work. They are nice mirrors. I like your idea of making the mirror look like it is 2.

I like the table top. One idea is find a paint color that matches the diamond shape in the middle and paint an outline around the circle where the bowl was.

I would keep the table as is. The design is beautiful.
I like the table. I think it gives it character having that wood centerpiece. I think you should live with it for a few weeks and see if it grows on you or if you just truly don’t like it.

For the table, you might consider putting the bowl back on it, use a brown color like the inset design, and trace/paint a trim around the bowl the width of the inset design, using the bowl as a guide. That way you have a nice trim around the circle that will match the inset.

What about just having one round mirror above your sink and add floating shelves on the other side? That way, it'll be less noticeable, and you can put some cute boho decor on them? Just a thought. Love all your ideas and style!
I would do one of two things with your table. 1. Paint a thin line in brown around the circle to emphasize it or 2. Lay tape over the “inlay” design cutting carefully and paint everything else and pull the tape to leave the faux inlay in.

Loved your refreshes….The table, it was really cool the way it was before sanding and painting. The spray paint is what killed it. The top of the table with the design element was what made it look original, interesting and cool.
When you hate builder grade mirrors but you really don't have many other options, build a "picture frame" around it ;) just give it a pretty border, a frame around it can really change the whole feel!
I love the stool now that it's painted black! It matches the rest of your colours better now. I agree with the other suggestions about the little table. Making another circle in the same colour as the design in the centre, will tie it together, because it looks like something is missing the way it is now :)
I would build a frame around your existing mirrors. Everything looks great!!
Love the black stool - looks so elegant! On the little table that you spray painted. I think if you draw a circle the same color as the 'star' around the circle then it will blend. Also maybe a circle in that same color around the outer rim of the table.
Amanda, I’d paint the entire top on the table and if you like the design, use your circuit and make a stencil. Bathroom looks great so far! Maybe frame the mirror that are on the wall now. We had the same problem in our bath too. Two mirrors didn’t look right, so we had frames made and a small cabinet that went up the wall in the corner on my vanity to balance the offset light fixture problem. Idea that might be an option for you. It was a win win for me. I got a little storage and helped balanced the light fixture as maybe they were meant to be.
I love beyond paint, I’ve used it in several spaces of my home and it’s held up so well! Im always recommending it to all of my family and friends.
I like the shelf in the bathroom but I think it would look nice with a couple of baskets holding the toilet paper.
I think the table looks cool also. You could also shine your the wood in the center if that would make you like it more.
The lights look really great. What about moving the light over the vanity over and centering it on the vanity. Then you could hand separate mirrors and they wouldn’t look off center
BTW, I liked the idea of a shelf over the bathroom door to put toilet paper rolls or whatever. I even showed my husband, what you did.
I think the stool turned out great. I like the suggestion that someone made about using some nice trim around your mirrors to make your own custom frame.😊 No! the table looks good Amanda .
Amanda I love the table. The design on the top makes the table. If you do decide to paint it make sure you can put the design on it. Take a picture first. Loved watching you two working together as always. At least no hiccups today. I know you want to change the mirrors out but honestly I like the ones that are there. You get a full view when you do your makeup and dress up. You can admire yourself with those full mirrors. I know I would since I am still in a camper. I only see my face when I get ready to go anywhere. Enjoyed video and looking forward to the next project. Take care.😊
You can put a single mirror on your side and a counter mirror on the vanity side. Something vintage would look great
Hey Amanda! Great video. For your bathroom, I would do matching mirrors above the sinks and then I would do a cute tabletop mirror on the vanity area.
Just frame in your existing mirrors. You can get some cool trim and glue it. Our builder did that for one of our houses and it looks like you bought a huge mirror.
We thought about that… but the mirrors feel so overpowering in the space - and also, they’re pulling away from the wall in so many spots… so we were leaning away from that - but definitely a wonderful idea!
What about a smaller version of a framed rectangle mirror? We rent and have a huge mirror that takes up the whole wall where the sink is 🙄 Never could understand why builders do that.
When using molding on a mirror, it’s best to paint the back of it black before you glue it down. Otherwise, you would likely see a small amount of raw wood in the reflection.

The table looks cute. I would leave it. You could also paint a thin round outline with a matching paint to the center lines. The bathroom mirrors: I would frame them and paint the frame black or the cabinet color.
The stool is very pretty with the black paint on it and the lights look amazing I love watching you do your diy because I love learning new things
Love that shelf over the door idea! We have a tiny 1957 “master bath” with no storage - can’t wait to get hubby up there to measure and see if we can do something like this too. Looks awesome!

Personally I think the table looks really cool!! You are correct about using 3 coats of the Beyond Paint. I did 3 coats of the sage color on my kitchen island & it looks fantastic!! When we had one large mirror in our master bath we painted some decorative trim & put in on the mirror with liquid nails. It looked great!! Just an idea!! Love all your videos!!🥰
I think the table turned out great. The design on the top actually matches the little stool next to it.
definitely 2 mirrors on your sink and vanity any shape you want will look good. It is a big wall so you can use big mirrors to fill the wall.
I think with a darker rim around your table middle would make it look more intentional and ground your table more. I like the inside color and think it would look great!

I think you should stain the middle part of that table. And maybe paint a different color ring around the inside edge of the paint. Try a large compass to paint it. I think the table is cool.
I also have several areas in my home that are asymmetrical and sometimes it makes me crazy..lol

I know you're starting on your bedroom already and the idea of an accent wall with wood behind your bed will look great. Wallpaper is back and it might be a cool touch on the wall that Emma's bed is on or in another spot to soften up your room.
I can't wait to see the mirrors in the bathroom - that's one I've been curious to see how you approached.
And your little table . . . While I like the inset design because it's interesting, I think the raw wood against the paint makes it look like it's not finished. I'd paint the top or even do a mosaic tile design on the top to give it more personality.
I would actually use baskets on those shelves to disguise the Toliet paper...but other then that...great job guys on everything 😊
Great video, Amanda! When we moved into our home 19 years ago most of the rooms were painted baby blue and Pepto Bismol pink. I swear it looked like someone threw up a baby shower in our whole house. 😂 It took us forever to get the rooms painted, but they look SO much better now.

Hi Amanda, like others have suggested I would just frame the existing mirror and that would avoid the can of worm of having to deal with centering everything! Stool looks great in black!

I love the licorice color on that wood stool! I usually don’t like painting over wood either! Due to natural beauty but it fits the aesthetic so much better with that licorice color! ❤ I love seeing you and Kyle work together!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE Beyond Paint! I painted my kitchen laminate cabinets in soft gray and they are beautiful! I've also painted my wood cabinets in our bathroom as well as other wood pieces. It is the best paint I've ever used and so easy and a flawless finish!
My husband is so hands on and attended a trade school during his high school, which helped so much and of course trial and errors. I’ve learned so much from him but also from you and Kyle. We are still in the process of building a barndominium and we want to do majority of the work ourselves. My husband’s schedule has been chaotic and we just had our 3rd baby which has slowed things down. He went ahead and hired framers to finish framing and Sheetrock/tape/mud. The cost $$$ we had to justify paying the cost since they can finish that process in a week and it would take us months with our schedule and little kiddos. I have so many ideas for our home that I’ve taken from your videos ❤ I will say, out of topic… your hair looks so great! Love the length, color and the way you had it styled.
At first I didn’t think I liked the table because I thought it looked off center but when you showed it from a different angle I thought it looked pretty cool. I agree with you however, you’re the the one who will be using it so you have to like it so, like you said, live with it for a while and make your decision later!
Hi Amanda, I agree with some others that a defining line between the lighter wood and paint is needed on the round table. Or maybe a darker color paint altogether to make the wood detail pop. Great job to both of you on the projects! 🙂
I like the detail on the table. You might want to do some detail about 1 inch away from the center design in the painted area, the same color and width to tie it together a bit. Or in black or gold. You never cease to amaze me with your talents and abilities!!! You are great!

Hi Ralphs wife here, I think I would put wide trim around the mirror and maybe down the center of the mirror to make it look like it's two mirrors.

One mirror over your sink with a table top light up makeup mirror on top your vanity. You could put shelves or art where the mirror would go

Hey Amanda! I recently did what you want to do and took the builders grade mirror out and put up two mirrors. Remember tho that the lights are closer to the center of the wall/each other than to the side walls - weird to explain haha but it makes centering mirrors under the lights AND having the mirrors be big enough to look right is hard. I had to go with much smaller mirrors than I wanted but it’s still better than the ginormous BG mirror. Good luck - can’t wait to see what you do! ❤

I would paint the bowl the same color and use the furniture as a stand for the bowl.
I have an idea for the sink/vanity area. Instead of placing another mirror over the vanity place either open shelving for storage or decor, or simply hang a picture in that spot
I think it came out good just need to put a protective on it

Amanda I think the table is cool as well, I think you just need to put a top finish on it, maybe semi gloss finish. It's different, it is cool. You can always paint later if it don't grow on you. Love your house projects!! ❤ from Kansas City

Put a clear wax or varnish on the table top. This will 'enrich', deepen the color of the timber and the inlay, and protect everything.
I would live with the sweet table for a little bit. Can’t wait to see what the mirrors look like. Wait, you’re finally doing your bedroom? Like for yourselves? Yay!🥰🌵

Hi Amanda, I love your ideas on all you projects. As for the table maybe try to take the color in the diamond and paint a border around the inside circle and around the outside edge of the table. Just a thought.

whenever i watch these house projects videos, i get so motivated to finally tackle our house projects. where do you get your motivation from? it always appears that yall are always doing something - i wish we were that motivated.
i think the little table looks really nice white, and i love the little pattern, but i agree that the wooden center does look a little out of place now that the rest is painted (sorry, but you asked for honesty). I would consider painting the whole thing, but maybe paint that same pattern in black on top, so the design is still there, but the whole table looks cohesive since it'll all be painted. would require practice on the free hand painting though.

It needs a border to break up the light on light between. Maybe a darker brown or black to pull in the other accents would make it looks more finished.
Perhaps on the table you could paint it black where the bowl was and the "diamond" gold metallic.
It's very easy to move the light over to where you want it
