  • Learn how to front tail here. I've even included a little hack that will help absolute newcomers to the trick break through the initial difficulty of getting their weight over a ledge. Which was a really tough problem for me to solve, as a beginner.
I mention my video on Ollies in the video. Here's a link to it:

I lost tailslides about 8 years ago and haven’t been able to get them back. You’re the first trick tip that’s mentioned the wind up. Gonna give that a shot and see if that’s what I needed

I like going out to kickflip no matter what and doing front side 180's and front side boardslide.

Love how you focus on the entire body and the importance of the shoulders. So important, yet so easy to gloss over.

Thanks. That’s one of the revelations that changed my skating the most. That and focusing on crouching before the pop for each trick.

So I've had tailslides & other basic ledge tricks good for years...but doing them down a 10 stair handrail just ain't happening. Can you make a tutorial for skating handrails better in general? Not for any specific trick, but just how to approach them, how to bail without getting hurt, how to do flip into handrail tricks, how to attempt new/harder tricks on them, etc.

I feel you. Rails are mostly about controlling position. When you make contact with the rail, you should be crouched, and you want to have enough speed to glide through.
Think of it as an equation: 9.8 meters per second squared (gravity). Meaning your movements have to fit into one second, for most rails.
As long as your weight is distributed properly (explained in the video), meaning over the rear bolts for a Tailslide, you only have gravity to contend with. So, learning to time the movement of your body with the duration of your slide, will facilitate execution of grinds and slides on rails.
Practice doing this with board slides first. In my video on them, I discus how to accurately make and position your body.
Send me a video of your attempts, on Instagram, and I’ll give you a tip or two. Sign up for my Patreon, if you need a full lesson over FaceTime/Zoom.

Honestly I got fs 180s on lock, but I’m always down for more tips brother. I only have a 16” ledge to learn grinds and slides on so if you got any tips specially on 180 over obstacles that would be dope.

I made a video about skating over obstacles. That should help. But, with 180s the important factor is your control. Since you need to carry the board around. I’d recommend 180s over while rolling parallel, before trying to attack from straight on.

Can you teach us the secret to flipping out. I can frontside flip with the best of them. But I can not flip out of this trick.

I guess I’ll have to make a video. It’s on my list. Tough with more difficult tricks. Seems like less people are seeking them, and the view count reflects it. But, I’ll make it for you.
