    this really helped me get my tail and nose slides back. im 45 and just started skating again after a few decades of not really doing it. My son wanted to learn to skate so i figured this would be the perfect thing for both us. i started skating back in 89-90 and kinda stopped back in the maybe 2000. i loved it growing up and it made me so happy that my son wanted to learn. i got us both new completes as fast as i could. some stuff came back right away like ollies, pop shovits and some slides. i taught him how to ollie and he picked it up pretty fast. i stumbled across you channel while i was looking for how to vids. i liked how real you kept and fun you kept it. reminded me of how it was back when i was younger. i quickly showed my son and he digs your channel as well. currently we both are trying to learn kickflips(im trying to relearn and he's fresh to them) . nothing is better then skating with your son at the parks or at street spot getting energy off each other. Thank you for having a rad channel and making everything fun. we've watched all your videos and looking forward to the new videos to come.

    Mate,
    Just seen this video
    I can most basic grinds pretty comfortably
    BUT
    After this video
    I have every single grind and slide on LOCK
    When I now think
    BEND KNEES before every single grind
    I land them 95% of the time
    My problem has always been sticking on my grinds and slides
    Now i slide everything and it has made every single trick out of grinds and slides so doable for me
    Thank you
    You have officially made me decent at skating ledges

  • @makrospex
    @makrospex 5 лет назад +3

    Good stuff, Dale :)
    Now to the bent knees. Bent knees naturally help balancing, because when you bend your knees while standing on the ground, the center of gravity lowers, which helps balancing, as well as to actually bend your knees you have to keep balance of your upper body while doing it. These are the two key factors that help balancing so much when the knees are bent.
    Just stand with straight legs and ask a friend to push you. You will tend to fall. With bent knees you won't, so there's a series of three joints (*) involved in balancing the upper body, while you're only able to keep balance with upper body maneuvering standing with straight legs.

    I remember seeing pics of nose or tailslides back in the 90's and they used to lean into them real hard, their feet were all sideways like they were doing a flying kick almost to lock in, I guess that's why they'd wax ledges with their faces more when they'd miss. Probably how Hall of Meat got started. All those crazy bails.
