The first rule is that you should not use the golden ratio for anything. It's an excellent way to create very boring things to look at. We are not machines and we are not programmed. It's nice to know what the golden ratio is and that's all there is to it. All kinds of art, including design, are dynamic things where a personal touch is very important, it makes us special and different from others. Strict application of various rules would prevent the evolution of design or art, and we would be stuck in a great depression of repetitive crap. So do it the way you feel.
As a graphic artist who went to art school, we didn’t spent too much time with the Golden Ratio. We used other means like hierarchy, detail, focus and color theory… but ultimately we got the same result. I find it interesting how you can get to the same place with different methods.
Next video should be “How use the rule of thirds/ grids to make aesthetically pleasing layouts and compositions” I would love to see that next because there’s so much to unpack in this topic with just showing the “How to’s” This topic a mini course or series if you have the time plus with pro tips
why do you copy the circle if you resize it again :D, 6:10 The golden ratio in the logo symbol is something in vain, and in the end what you have to believe is your eyes, not numbers its just a guide, but if it ruins the shape , what for ?
A Graphic designer always would be cringing when they see texts anywhere that is off proportions usually in posters or banners. They be like " these texts here aren't at the centre its way more to the left wtf who made this 🤣"
Man, come on! This is an amazing video. You are teaching better than our teachers. By the way, I am an architect, and years ago, I never thought that graphic design used the golden ratio. Amazing ! Thank you so much ^^

Thank will for discuss amazing facts. Specially I like the Font sizing with golden ration grate, I loved it. I will use this ration for font sizing. You are requested to make a video on financial report design and layout. thanks
Very interested in using the golden ratio in design. Thanks for the advice. One question about your explanation: when you add 1 and 1 to make 2 around 1:20, they dont't add up volume wise.. Same for 1 and 2 etc. Could you explain that?

Thanks for that. ❤️ I got question for you (or a suggestion for next video): When do we really need to print with Pantone color and not CMYK? Sometimes I see the colors are perfect in CMYK but I always feel the need to change them into Pantone Colors but after changing them on Ai the colors aren't those I want. I know the differences between CMYK and Pantone but I don't really know (or not sure) which to use and when. Thnx.
I’m digital only, but my print guru at work said “just call the printer and he’ll tell you what to use”. She said in a nutshell it’s literally more about the TYPE of PAPER you’re printing on and the TYPE of PRINTER he’s using. Of course with CC now requiring a Pantone license I started asking questions like: why can’t we just use hex equivalents. She glared comically. 😂

Hi! Recently I started watching your videos and I have to say I got immediately drawn to your channel. I want to become a graphic designer, mainly doing logos, branding and stuff. However I haven't got any sort of experience and I have to start from the scratch. The career of logo designer seems greatly appealing to me and therefore I want to ask you. Could you recommend any type of course that will show me all of the important stuff that there is to learn about graphic design? As I said my experience is low. I only used to work with Gimp and then with Photoshop to make some banners for youtube, thumbnails or just random compositions. I'm not good at drawing complex pictures, but I think I'll be realy good with simple and attractive designs. Hoping to get your response and I wish you all the best in the future, because your designs and content are fun and inspiring. Cheers!

really great. 😉😉😉
Thank you. This is the most helpful and easiest to understand video that I've watched about the golden ratio
Golden ratio is overghyped and nobody can convince me otherwise. Most people dont even use it properly.
Yeah, I think it can be overhyped. However, I believe it to be a useful tool. So I wouldn't automatically just say "It's just hype" and not use it. :)
Thank you Will. It can really be helpful
