Pretty fucked up that you let a far right/white supremacist meme get in as one of the names. Especially considering moomooakai ended up being forced to use it.

This felt like such a casual run (in terms of tone) and I really liked that. Everyone just seemed to be chill and playing games. Also the cosplays are great.

Very entertaining race, the couch and the racers were very entertaing as the talked about the game mechanics spiced up with silliness and some in-jokes. I also like the way they chose the safety saves, it allowed them to still use the speed run strategies they're used too but still be relaxed enough to crack jokes on the big stage for rpgs. Great race and showcase, the nostalgia is real.

Loved all the cosplays people had going on this event, was a really fun group of runners and couch commentary too, great job everyone.

@@KhaosElement Yeah no worries, if you already own the games, then there is no reason why you should feel bad to emulate the games on a PS2 Emulator on a computer, even a crappy laptop should be able to run the games.

orca was lv50 as a legendary character, and yet these dude's pace put them at lv50 within a couple of hours. those dudes playing The World are really, really bad at powerleveling!

Orca and Kite's players were like in middle school or some shit. They had homework to do.

cool run but seems like an odd choice for a race. Also, did they crown a champ who had to use a different save file? That doesn't seem right.

It's also an attempt to get people to race the game with them. They all agreed on the rules they used before the race (I think while they were planning the submission). But yeah Royzoga was the winner we all know it but Moomoo finished first so his timer stopped first.

I ran this game by myself from 2011-2014 and was like 30 minutes faster than the guy finishing first. I should dig up my notes

That's a really impressive time, no doubt, but also remember for events like this they do use marathon routes to avoid those situations where most runners aiming for a PB would do dozens of runs waiting until they survive a certain attack, abandoning runs where it kills them, because there's a 25% chance they can survive and losing one in four runs to it is worth the savings in time. For races they also often pick special routes that minimize the impact of low-probability events or really hard skill elements. For instance in Earthbound runs they don't do onett manipulation because if one person got it, and the others didn't, the race would be over in the first 30 minutes as one player would be 20 minutes ahead of the others or more.
That said, if you're inspired to speedrun seeing a marathon, awesome! Maybe one year I'll see you up there!
