- This was the biggest biscuit I found while rock hounding at the Kokernot 06 Ranch near Alpine. Will it have some beautiful design on the inside, or will it be a dud? Let’s cut some slabs and find out!
I actually like it, Scott!
That clearness is cool!
I’m glad you liked it Mike!
The clear is good 😊
I did like the transparency aspect….😁
Yes it is
Gotta put some chives, sour cream, cheese and bacon bits on top. Looks like a sliced baked potato! Thanks for sharing. (Now I know what I'll make with supper tonight!)
I thought it looked like a potato too!
Thanks Chris, now I’m craving a loaded baked potato as well!!😆
That is one big old quartz bomb, but very cool that some of it was crystal clear.
That was the one redeeming thing I suppose. Thanks as always for watching!
That’s a boat load of quartz.😊
Way too much for my taste….😆
Very pretty,I like the quartz and the chalcedony is flashy!
Thanks for the feedback James!
Coffee table project. Back light on those slabs would be cool.
Great idea James, thanks!
It's Beautiful!
Loved It!

Thanks so much Cathy, I appreciate it!😁
That's a baked potato someone left in the sun.
Scott slabbing up some tater chips!
If it only tasted that good!😆
From the thumbnail, i thought it was really bread! 👍🏻
I can definitely see that!😆 Thank you for watching!
Where I grew up, western Pennsylvania, I would have been over the moon to find a specimen like this.
You should get out to West Texas because they are fairly common out there, especially the smaller sizes. I’ll be slabbing more large ones soon so stay tuned….
Cool…it looked like a piece of bread for sure.
Very crunchy bread! 😆 Thanks for watching!
Still it is an interesting find! Much bigger than the little bit of stuff I've found out that direction in the past.
I have several more larger ones that I’ll be cutting soon. I hope they turn out better!🤞
I went to college in Alpine. I remember Trey Woodward would come check on us looking for agate on his ranch, and he would say, "yall find any biscuits?!"
I have heard lots of stories about him and hunting agates on his ranch. Unfortunately those days are over 😔. Thankfully we have a couple of new landowners who allow us to hunt their properties. 😁
Do you think soaking the slabs in a bucket of Iron Out would help? I like what's going on with the quartz, the clear panels are cool, and there's some black stuff in the quartz that almost looks like dendrites, but there's some color where you keep saying there's chalcedony that I would definitely remove by sanding or cutting it off if Iron Out didn't work.
Hi, thanks for watching! It might clean up a little bit I suppose. Thank you for the suggestion!
The one at 2:18 is my favorite for its colorful chalcedony, clear quartz, and the pine tree shape in the upper left.
Thanks so much Ann for the feedback, and thank you for watching!😁
Nice slabs
Thank you Charles, and thanks for watching!
Uuu, really like that one😍❤️👋🇫🇮
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
All those slabs look like they have small pine needles tucked into the crystalline setting.
Cool observation, thanks for watching!😁
Its a cool crystal!
Thanks Jonathan for watching!
The very first cut looks like a polar bear.
I like your imagination Steve!😆
Have any of those West Texas ranchers given you permission to hunt on their property? It seems theres some amazing agates to be had, but mostly on private property. In California theres plenty of state and BLM land to hunt on.
Hi Johnny, thanks for watching! We go with a guide who gets us on private property for a fee. The ranchers get money for us being on their land and more money for the rocks we take. Sweet deal for them!😆 I wish Texas had more public land but alas, it’s not to be 😥.
I would give the giant west Texas biscuit a C
That might even be generous!😆
very fruit looking
I can see that!😆
I thought it said slapping 😅😅😅
That would hurt like heck!😆
As far as using for lapidary, not much there.
😥
.....might be easier to see more detail if you back lit the slabs, might show more around those clear areas.....
Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it! I’m always looking for ways to improve my videos.
