More Dune content please!
Aussie finds an Aussie board game RUclips channel. Oi! Oi! Oi!
Great review, too.
It's only 4% of our viewerbase sadly! So we love it when more Aussies tune in!
@@TabletopKnights Pleasure to be here. Will you guys be at Melbourne Pax in October?
@@PaulMB40 We hope to be, although most likely for a single day this year sadly!
Got my copy last week and had one play. It’s like a streamlined sped up WotR - I’m looking forward to digging in more and discovering the different strategies. My biggest complaint is that the board is SO HUGE when you add the player dashboards we need to set up a second table to get it all on. Wish they’d shrunk it all down a bit but I know people love their big minis!
I agree on the gameplay but I do love the grand scale of the game!
a streamlined sped up WotR!? You have peaked my interest
Just watched dune part 2 on opening night, now I reallllyyyy want to get the board game. It looks so fun!
I'm really excited for my copy to arrive. I only played a few times on TTS, I love War of the Ring but found the 'samey-ness' of Frodo and Sam essentially having a set path, even if it is hidden; became old rather quick no matter how much I loved the game and LOTR. Yes cards, dice, etc can change things but the board state is usually the same every game with slight differences.
This game just seems like War of the Ring but with a less planned out map, in the sense that you could go anywhere and do different things each game, with varied stuff added in with the Possible Futures modes or however it was called, not to mention the expansions!
Thanks for the videos on the game, are you planning to do a full expansions game soon too?
We have a few things to record next week but we'll get back into these if we get enough support from viewers to do it!
Really struggling to decide if I should keep WotR or this. I haven't played either yet. And despite loving LotR a lot more than Dune, I hate to admit that the aesthetic quality of a game really helps get it onto my table.
I've heard that War of the Ring is harder to get to the table for sure. I myself love Lord of the Rings and have no experience with the Dune series, but this game has made me want to watch Dune at the least!
Surely you don't need to get rid of either until you've given them both a try and seen which you prefer? I've played both, and loved both, and I would say your preference probably will depend on which theme excites you the most. Mechanics to theme, I would say that WotR beats out D:WfA for me. Pure gameplay wise, D:WfA edges out WotR.
On the family atomics, they are deployed right at the end of the movie, so having it at the end is thematic.
That’s for the review and play through! I love the dune universe so I’ll probably love this game.
It's a very cool game. Thanks for watching.
Great review. New subscriber unlocked!
Awesome, thank you!
More players means divided focuses and that suits in this theme. Just like in WoTR where biggering between Sauron ja Saruman and distrust between free peoples suits to the theme nicely!
Does War of the Ring work well with 4? It seems like it would be such an afterthought in that game.
@@lystic9392
I like it better with 4… but you lose some controll and not all players like that!
There will be competition between friendly factions about the dices. For me it is thematic, to other a thing that ruins his masterplan
Where is the how to play?! I saw you post it! I need it!
We had to re-upload.
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to my first game
Thanks for watching. We're still getting the odd thing wrong, there's a lot to remember. Have fun!
Spice must flow track, every dice the Harkonnen loses is massive for that player.
Thanks for the video, enjoyed it.
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Definitely read the first book! :D or get the audio book
Read....what is read? Haha.
@@TabletopKnights I mean you read the rule book didn't you 😜
You can't tell me that is going to be more interesting than the story it is emulating 🤣
Questions for y’all. My copy after I set it up the main board and player boards quickly started to warp/bend/curve quite significantly. Did your boards do the same?
No problems with board warp after 2 days out on the table. It's usually related to humidity or moisture changes in the air. Our studio is away from that.
@@TabletopKnights interesting mine warped almost as soon as I laid it down. But thanks!
Love the shade thrown at wingspan :)
Just sorted my game, looks forward to playing it
Excellent, I've just received shipping notification for the playmat.
whats your thoughts on solo play or 3-4 player play?
We haven't really got around to playing it sadly. I think both modes would be fine, I'd much prefer solo than 4 player but 4 player it would be great to bounce strategies off of your team mate.
Minis - how tall are they; in milimeters?
They are approximately 30-32mm
the landscape is SO dramatic and SO much a part of the story in the movie and book THAT I THINK THE MAP IN THIS GAME FAILS UTTERLY
why? You can get attacked by worms, you can take attrition from sandstorms, you cant traverse mountain areas unless by air, you can ride sandworms, it has minor urg areas that only small worms inhabit and are critical for some goals, the fortress areas on the mountain platau are protected as in the books. What else were you thinking of?
40 page rulebook for a heavy game with a lot of detail and edge case rules and no index? Yikes, no thank you. How does something like this still make it's way through QA in this day and she and at such a big and professional company?
It does have an index, our comment was meant to convey that the rules summary does not cross reference to rules. Player aids would certainly have helped too. That being said I think the game is worth perseverance. Thanks for watching.
Don't worry, there's a decent index.
