I was at this Radio City music show on July 20, 1993 and vocally this performance was is better than the AMA’s. Everyone in the audience that night was blown away by this performance. I still get chills thinking about it.
@@billy60986 she definitely was at her best here. This audio quality of this is not great. But radio city music 1993 was one of her BEST concerts. Yes the 1994 version was great too.
Whitney always used her concerts to get as gritty as she wanted vocally. The AUDACITY of people to criticize the AMA performance. Not FULLY grasping that Ms. Houston was NOT to be played with. Even when she wasn't 100 percent, she was STILL as close to vocal perfection as it gets. 🎤 👑💜
I agree with your point. Even though she wasn’t in the same place vocally she was overcompensating for that by giving us moments that personally made me fall in love with the performance even more.
This is definitely better than AMA's the way she was taking her time here with this performance. Also this was like Bodyguard Whitney in top form 🤩 imo the only missing thing here was the head voice at the end of IHN but nonetheless a stellar performance
Destroying an American Songbook Standard, a modern Broadway Classic and an already legendary original. Medley for the ages, this performance often overlooked because of it's recording and the epic AMA's stage (it was a moment). Great reaction as always, another video from you keep to coming back to.
I love that I grew up with Whitney.. Having the vocal trinity as your introduction to singing is just something else!!!! with vocals like this - I mean, I mean.. Whitney's tone, vibrato, and power will always be special to me - its just perfection!!!!!
I don't think Whitney gets enough credit... Could u imagine that?? 🤣🤣 This woman never performed a song tha same way in her PRIME..most singers wait till later in their careers to change the song up,but she did it in her PRIME. Which means every concert was different.. THATS TALENT THIS WOMAN REALLY GAVE US HER ALL!!!
the 93 Performances of this melody particularly the one at radio city, are my favs! And her performance of you give good love at radio city in 93 is my favorite live performance of that song
I thought I was the only one who felt like this 😂😂....this lady was a gift to us...l come from a family of musicians and my mother did Porgy and Bess with my cousin in her Katata....and she could sing...but WHITNEY blows me away every time I hear it....l listen to it every night before I go to bed....I like this version the best...like the AMA as well..but this one blows me away....plus she sang it with such class....RIH WHITNEY ❤❤❤❤
I don't understand why Ricky Minor said that she never rehearsed that performance until the AMA 94. This was in 1993 ( after she gave birth) and She was definitely on fire that night!!
I need that particular performance of I Have Nothing that was professionally recorded because it's one of the few rare instances where she didn't do the breakdown before the climax. I know they have this concert in a vault somewhere because they shown clips of it during her Rockumentary episode.
Both performances are wonderful, but I enjoyed the AMA one better. I had never heard this one before, so it was a very nice surprise... I remember her when she was doing a coaching on one the talent shows on NBC where she was giving pointers and she said 'you can't just sing the words you have to caress the words/the notes' and that she did so very well and so beautifully. I just teared up just hearing this. I'm so happy you did a reaction video to this version. Thank you so much!! 😊❤️🙏🏽 She's my favorite singer ever!!!
I'd have to say the one she performed at the AMA awards was my favorite because of the audio on the other one. I am so thankful that I was able to see her perform in concert in 1987 live.. She was so beautiful and her voice was amazing. Jonathan Butler opened for her. I feel so blessed to have seen her live at one of her earlier concerts. I wasn't being critical, just expressing my opinion. Thank you for asking me.. 😊💛
I requested on another video if you could please react to Whitney’s song “So Emotional” it’s so vocally underrated because it’s uptempo but she is giving such high belts in that song that deserves to finally be appreciated.
The performance of I Will Always Love You from this night is also among the bests; unfortunately, a guy in the audience ruins it for everyone else by screaming through the entire performance. For instance, in the middle of the opening verse-literally the most intentionally soft part of the song, he screams at her to sing louder. 🤦🏾♂️
I just posted a remastered version of this from the actual master lossless footage from the guy who filmed it! Please check it out: ruclips.net/video/OED1s9awRTo/видео.html
Whitney Just had Bobbi Kristina 4 months earlier so she was still working her Pounds off...I never seen Whitney this Thick before when I first saw it...I was a Kid and Gay so I didn't know what I was looking at anyways....LOL. RIP Whitney and Bobbi KristiNa
Personally, I think “I Loves You Porgy” is better when sung more simply. Nina Simone just slays that song. But of course Whitney could do whatever she wants with her voice. But it was a bit overdone for my taste.
Can you please react to Whitney Houston He / I Believe live in London 1986 ? Her vocals during this performance is insane especially the high notes !!! ruclips.net/video/CfDZX-YqxYs/видео.html

But she was sick here postpartum and she was not at her best. She still was a beast in 1994

@@whitneyfan9019 Forreal, also the Atlantic city date as well, 1993 was an incredible year for Whitney.
@@revolutionishere I heard the Atlantic City concert on RUclips and her voice was amazing there too. 1993 to me was one of Whitney’s best vocal years.
Amazing you were there!
Whitney was one of those singers people wanted to hear every single time she sang. Her voice gave us life!
One of her greatest performances. Everyone knows the AMA one but this was even better vocally

I just love the way she opens that "my" up at 9:21! She was out in the stratosphere! 😍💯👌🏾
She was amazing. This was before the AMA’s and this one is better.
1. The mic stand and towel
2. Insert church notes
3. Classical songs
4. Showed off in I Have Nothing 🔥🤣
This was before the AMA’s
Honestly, this live version of “I Have Nothing” is possibly the greatest live performance witnessed of the that song thus far
I love this performance. She also did this melody at her Milan 1993 concert as well.
Medley*
Oh God we lost something divine when this woman left this earth!
this one is better than AMA.. Her voice seemed richer here.
This is definitely better than AMA's the way she was taking her time here with this performance. Also this was like Bodyguard Whitney in top form 🤩 imo the only missing thing here was the head voice at the end of IHN but nonetheless a stellar performance
Had you not seen this? OMGGGGG a true masterclass o in every definition of the word. There will never ever be another like her.

this whole concert was fire! I wish there was a better quality recording.
@@user-td6fq7or8d There is quality footage, there's snippets all over the place they just have the complete one in a vault.
I’m glad someone else shares my opinion on how she takes a break before the climax!

why didnt you like this one as much? Because of the quality of this one?

Yes!!!! Those background notes she hit on that song folk need to hear and talk about. Pure Vocal Masterclass on that song
Love her, she never sings songs the same way.
Three huge songs. Only Whitney. I'm so mad that I didn't make it my business to get to one of her shows.
I'm speechless! Damn!
its so good!
This was amazing, I think with better quality this might trump the AMA’s but of course she’s about to let loose more in concert versus an awards show
I'm so glad this exists ❤
The AMA's performance was from 1994. This was from her tour in 1993 at Radio City Music Hall.
Searching and Can't find Words....every time🤷♂️🤌🙏🙏☄️
This performance came before the AMA one.
The best ever!
She destroyed that stage ☄️
I didn't think that performance from the AMA'S could get any better, well I was wrong. #8thwonderoftheworld #thevoice #nippy
I wish there was a cleaned up version of this one.. it’s unreal
this was before the AMA"s she had just had Bobbi Kristina 4 months prior, and on the AMA performance Bobbi Kristina was about a Year old
GOAT
This is Whitney experimenting to test her masterful medley and find out where tweeks, if any, are necessary.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
