The fragment shows who Shadow would meet if he went down the wrong path and allowed the space colony to collide with Earth. Sonic enters the state of Dark Sonic because his friends on Earth are dying..

Dark form is a negative version of a Super form. And Sonic can't turn Super without chaos emeralds. Dark form also requires the emeralds, as shown in Sonic X. Next thing, if there are chaos emeralds Shadow will also turn Super, he has much better control of chaos energy than Sonic. So this animation is uncorrect. Shadow should be in his Super form or a Dark form, cause he can master both positive and negative chaos energy as shown in ShTH game.
Not to mention that Dark Sonic isn't canon cause Sonic X isn't canon.
