- If I could make a wish I think I'd pass
Can't think of anything I need
No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound
Nothing to eat no books to read
Making love with you, has left me peaceful warm inside
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
Just to have you now
All I need is the air that I breathe you're all I want
Peace came upon me and it breathes in me
Don't sleep silent angel don't you sleep
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
just to have you now
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe you're all I want
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you

I loved it yesterday, when I was 18 yo, I love it today now when I am 60. I shell love it till I die.
went from 18 to 60 real fast
I think she was speaking rhetorically lol.
I was twelve in '74 when I first heard it. Now I'm 57. Still does it for us.
hans-peter Z. I can totally relate. I was a young pre-teen when this song hit the charts. I listened to this and so many other amazing ballads of the time though a little transistor radio I hid under my pillow at night. Dreaming about my latest crush, my innocent heart full of hope and idealism, the songs of that time have followed me throughout the whole of my life. I often wish I could return to those sweetly soft days. Growing up isn't all it's cracked up to be. Thank goodness we have amazing music from the 60s and 70s to bring it all back.
One of the best songs ever written and sung by the best band ever!! Long live" The Hollies"
Correction: Written by the duo Albert Hammond- Mike Hazlewood.
Simply one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.
The best love song ever written.
I love it too.
The Hollies cranked out some many great records.
Damn straight Donald
Id want this played as my wedding song.
I was a teenage Hollies maniac and played them on the record player full blast ALL the time.. Dad suffered in silence. Mum remembers those years fondly and says this song was always her favourite. They are both 85 now and still fit as fiddles.
1 0 y e a r s a g o ,how they still?
Back in the good old days of long hair bell bottoms and wholey jeans
I liked your comment here 10 years ago and now I've lost my mom 1-16-2023 and have to say this was her favorite song in the 70s as it was mine. Every time I play this song I can't help but to break out crying in memory of my mom 😭 Today is 2-18-2023 and I might not be visiting this comment section again as I'm getting much older too but hopefully wish this kind of music will live on an is very rare in itself.
✌🏽Love one another life is very short cherish every second before you.
I always thought I'd marry someone loving in this life but appears that time has been coming to an end for quite some time now 😭
Some guys never just finish last but some never finish at all dying alone empty.
One of the most beautiful haunting songs of my life time.
Hearing this song with eyes close is like watching a video of what your life was like back then.
Including the people who came into your life but are now for ever gone.
It brings out the sadness you thought you had long ago put
away
I was a little girl when this song came out. I do think of carefree childhood days long gone and deceased beloved friends, family, classmates, neighbors, and pets. The memories live in your heart. Now a new generation likes these tunes.
I think England must have had the most musical talent per capita back in the day.
Back in the 60s anything British was looked at as really cool even if it really sucked. The thing that puzzles me most the Beatles had hit after hit and they get nothing on our radios whereas many single hits are still getting loads of air time.
I grew up in the 80's as a teen and love rock and the hair metal bands, but nothing beats the music from the 70's!! this song simply kicks ass.
This song is in beta development in the video you see, this concert was in 1969, but was released in 1974.
so this isn't from the 80's, or the 70's
+History Of Music And Artists correct.
well, late 60s, so i guess you can call it 70's
It's just wrong.
The amazing thing is these guys were high school kids when they were producing this quality of music...one of the greatest english groups ever.
Yes indeed, that's why my brother, as a teen himself, made such a big deal out of them. He and his best friend Ed loved the Hollies. The two joined the Marines in around '74...the 'ol buddy system. lol He would play his guitar every time a Hollies song came over the radio and he would play music with his BF (drummer) Ed. He dreamed, like most teens did, of being a rock star.. RIP Brother. sɛm.pɛr fɪ or (Semper Fi) always faithful...always loyal.
They look way older than high schoolers
@@jakesandlin2727 Graham Nash and Allan Clarke started out together in their teens in the late50s but by the time this video was made In the70s both of them were in their 30s and Graham was with CSN
A lot of those rockers back in had classical music lessons and they took it and put their talent into rock and it came out the best music the world's ever seen
@@jakesandlin2727 Look at the kid to the right of the singer...
How anyone could give this a thumbs down is mind boggling! The Hollies are masters of harmony and dreamy music. Great rhythm and beat, guitars, singing etc!
Unmistakingly a timeless and great song!
it's lovely living in a time where we can still see these videos of the bands we loved so long ago, suddenly 18 again.
Yeah, I remember when I listened to this when I was 18 too, 2 years ago.
Talk about the greatest bands from the British Invasion, everyone remembers the Beatles, Stones, Kinks. But this group The Hollies, were great also. This song was beautiful.
British Invasion?
Never heard of them till this lana vs creep thing...good song...
tdshaker What makes this beautiful, is the Timpini, not seen, but heard, from someone that gave birth to a purcussionist.....
Another Hollies good one: Long Cool Woman. !!... they had a few hits ....cant remember them all --- I'm 60 now and this came out when I was like....8 ??
They have left a permanent gift.....❤️ Thank you.
Music is the best time machine!
A beautiful love song, from a timeless and enduring band. The '60's and '70's were my years for coming of age...and the best rock! Thanks for posting.
the melody of this song just makes you sway with someone or alone; the lyrics are beautiful. it is one for the ages.
Such a Beautiful song...it never gets old.
Why was my post edited?
Thank u melon
"melon Hollies". "Melancholy." "The Air That I Breathe" has a Melancholy air, about it. I do not get it. "By gosh, by golly. It is time for Melontoe and The Hollies." Frank Sinairtra
I loved this song the first time I heard it when I was a kid. So many fond memories. Love the Hollies!!!
Love it now and loved it then! Beautiful song!!!!! All I need is the air that I breathe.
Simply my favorite tune by one of the greatest groups of the 60's and early 70's Loved it then and just as much now!!!
Godzilla: GG?
Kong: GG
(Godzilla naps in the ocean)
(Kong goes back home)
🤝😎
Ayyeee mate I just watched itt
That’s why I’m here, I searched up the song
Thanks for the live performance. All of these boys are great musicians! And I especially appriciate Allan Clarke's varied interpretation and excellent voice.
Omg! Had to hear it after Godzilla vs Kong! Love the song!!
Banda espetacular que fez muito sucesso no Brasil. Muita harmonia musical e arranjos magnificos.
Allen Clarke was incredibly handsome with an underrated voice. This song was written by Albert Hammond who wrote many other great songs, including It Never Rains in Southern California.
The most beautiful sounding song in history. I can be in a murderous mood and hear this masterpiece and all is right in the world again.
Why Billy Why!
I KNOW WHY TOO ,.. ITS ALL ABOUT 74 AND MY FIRST AND ONLY REAL LOVE ,..YEP I BLEW IT
Alan Clarke's great rendition made this among the best popular songs ever recorded.
GOOD old days... will never come back. Nowadays only the world is going down. Long live the good old days!
"The Air That I Breathe" is a ballad written by Albert Hammond & Mike Hazlewood in 1972.
1) 1972 • It is initially recorded by Albert Hammond and featured on his album "It Never Rains In Southern California", released on 1972-08-16.
2) 1973 • Philip Everly (from Everly Brothers) sings it on his album "Star Spangled Springer", released on 1973-01-31.
3) 1974 • The Hollies cover, RECORDED AFTER HEARING Phil Everly's version, appears on their 14th UK studio album "Hollies" released in 1974.
4) 1974 • The same year, James Last records an instrumental/orchestral version on his 1974 album "Violins In Love".
5) 1975 • Olivia Newton-John performs it on her 1975 album "Have You Never Been Mellow".
6) 1975 • A finnish version "Tahdo en kuin hengittää vain" (adaptation written by Pertti Reponen) is released by Petri Pettersson.
7) 1976 • Another curiosity, "Comme Si" is a french cover (lyrics adapted by Bernard Droguet) sung by duo Shuky & Aviva.
8) 1992 • The 1992 Radiohead song "Creep" uses a similar chord progression and shares some melodic content with the 1972 version of "The Air That I Breathe". Hammond & Hazlewood are given co-writing credits as well as a portion of the royalties.
9) 2017 • "Get Free" is a song by American singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey from her 5th studio album, Lust for Life (2017).
Nothing is clear concerning a link with 1992 "Creep" and/or 1972 "The Air That I Breathe"... 🤔
Numerous others artists have covered this song through years.
Some people even suggest the song itself is adapted/inspired from older songs making it appearing in the 1930's in the first place ?!... Who knows...
All videos are on RUclips but I can't put the links here. 🤬 I had to remove them all... Otherwise my comment is deleted immediately. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks got the history lesson. I had THE HOLLIES LPs… haha… turntable.. haha… I’m old
@@blackrhino3442 We never get old. And young people re-buy turntables. Vinyl will never die !!! ✌🏻
@zaytoun1er lmao lana del rey clearly stole it

With the pandemic, I've seen to lost my way...but find myself listening to life meaning, soul searching music that brings me back and saves me
Noperz - just that I remember this song from my childhood! I am 43 years old and love the old music. They rarely make music that touches the soul these days. It still happens but very rare. All the music 50's, 60's, and 70's told stories. In my humble opinion - music from the 60's and 70's was the best!
Allan Clarke's voice is something special
kjek1 q
Siempre imitado, jamás igualado
Made even better by Terry's beautiful harmony.
I am always amazed at how many iconic songs The Hollies produced and their history is not more well known. Allan Clarke's voice surpasses many others from his day, but I had to Google who is was. Fascinating story to the band.
truth
My dad and I used to laugh a lot at this video when I was younger. There’s a guy in the front who we called Elvis and was dancing with a bunch of girls while there’s this poor guy dancing all by himself in the back. We thought Elvis guy stole his date. My dad and i still watch this video and laugh at it from to time. I love that memory
#GodzillaVsKong sent me here👍
Omg, me too. Had to hear it, love this song!
Me too
Ayye mate I just watched it and I heard this song
Me also.... Kong's inauguration song
Me too!
The most beautiful song ever made!
I have really gotten to admire Alan Clarke! He sings "Breakdown" for the Alan Parsons Project!!
Back when music was real and not just real but really good and stood for real Talent
I grew up listening to this song, it is my favorite song
Let's just be at peace this group is just singing very cool!

Just love this song so much brings back good memories
I was born in 1966 and the music I grew up on has been so incredibly cool! I still feel like I’m in my 20’s till some 20 something calls me sir! Then it’s like oh yeah I’m in my 50’s and I come back down to Earth long enough to go back to my man cave-like home and go back to being early 20’s again! Damn kids spoil my good thing! But at least some are half polite!!
A True Classic , Whoever Wrote this Song Knew how To express Love Yo the WORLD !!!
His name is Albert Hammond Snr. He is the father of one of The Strokes
I am 67 and I am send this to my first wife that we reconnected after 43 years. This song says a lot...always loved my Tiger.
These guys are totally ripping off Lana Del Rey's 'Get Free'
lol
I love u quav
Ha
hah
Lol! She actually more accurately ripped off Radiohead's Creep, which was inspired by this song.
Fond memories of simpler times

David Inaho listening from Papua New Guinea in January of 2020 Yes indeed sometimes all we need is the air to LOVE
I remember my parents listening to this song when I was just a child. Always loved it and the music from this era.

Great song and a hell of a line. All I need is the air that I breathe and to love you. Come on.
Real song by a real singer!
Same thing with me, watched the movie "Seeking A Frienf for th e End of the World" and heard this song for the first time in many, many years!!!! Brought endless memories back!!!! AWSOME!!!!!
It's like bread when I do guitar man that guitar is you awesome and it has a sound like that when they're harmonizing on this song
Bread was also influenced by The Hollies/Graham Nash sound early

What a phenomenal song!
Graham Nash of Crosby,Stills and Nash is a wonderful artist.
I agree with this song!!!
Heard this on firefly lane and made me remember being a kid and my mom playing it❤️
Sometimes I get so sad. Reason, music like this is not made anymore. I loved it then, still love it now. But I thought all music will be this good. Never realised it will pass by. Never appreciated it enough. So sad.
Awesome song, I forgot how much i like this one...
Yes. What a great movie! It really makes you think about who you would like to spend your last days with.
Beautiful. Just beautiful!!
Muito massa não canso de ouvir
The hollies originally wrote that melody in 1972 with a song called “the air that I breathe “
Ein wunderbarer Titel- erinnert mich an meine schöne Jugend mit meinem Bruder Berni
This song sounds so special
I wish I was special
What a great song!
Great track by a great group, memories
I love Allan Clarkes voice
Sounds like paul williams on this one
Man, if this song dosen't rip the emotions out of you... I'm not sure what will
So awesome........LOVE this song:-)
" Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World" -2012 This was an interesting and enjoyable movie considering the subject matter. Has an outstanding sound track. Don't know how the songs were chosen but somebody did a good job.
This song fit so perfectly into that movie...loved it!!
Considering the title of the movie was taken from a repeated line from chris cornells "preaching the end of the world" and this song was never featured in the film, id argue theh left a glaring omission
Joe Herald, mate it choked me up when the song came on. Great song and a really wonderful film. I love the hollies even though I was born late 70's. How can people post they have never heard of them?
This song is featured in the last scene of Godzilla vs Kong.
That's why I'm here!😉
I am here to stop wearing stupid masks that do nothing and to love you.
Correct! And somehow it works. Almost 50 yrs old and timeless!

I was coming down off a trip in a pub in Beijing with my friend. We were having a great conversation and smoking as the the snow fell at 4:00 am. We were the only people in the pub and locals were riding their bikes past the bar as the flakes hit them. We watched them ride past the pub as the light hit them and the flakes as this song played in the background. Great memory.
They have pubs in China?😳
60s TIME AND NOW THEY REUNITE
LOTS OF GREAT SONGS UPDATED
AND ITS GOOD TO HAVE MEMORIES OF A GOOD CHILDHOOD
Great song ❤️
Brilliant.
Sweet Memories just brings me back to the good simple life! Love it❤️
Woke up a few months ago with this song in my mind. Took me awhile to pinpoint the name of the song and who sang it.
I was born in 1970 and it was just one of those songs that I heard a lot when I was very young. Seems to tap into a time and place I wish I could return.
At least I go this far, recognizing this song. Sweet sounds, sweet lyrics... This one will be around for a few more centuries.
Beautiful song, really, thanks budy
Only band who played n the first TOTP episode ever (1964) to perform 10 years after (1974), same TVshow.
All I need..what more can i ask 😇 J.M.this saint angel could sleep on that air ❤🙋♀️❤
Is it me or could he and Robert Plant be...I don't know?... Cousins? Not missing the orchestration on the recording at all...nice!
Allan Clarke is like Robert Plant's brown haired cousin yes I do think that
