This is a smart move from dewalt. Make tools like accessories that can attach to any brand, and you can draw in even more customers.
I once saw a brand do this but the product was shit
They had a massive drop in new customers
@@angrydragonslayer who/what was it?
"Brands are finally making it so power tools they put out can work for you no matter what brand you're already using!"
Air tools: "Welcome to 1910" :D
why not just buy the Milwaukee pipe cutters M18 or 12 less hassle
cool, but why not just grab the m12 tube cutter from milwaukee, it does 1/2 to 1" copper all in one auto adjusting . no need to fuss with an impact or drill
Saw this yesterday. Would be interested to see how it works but I have a milwaukee pvc cutter. 12v. Works great cuts as big as 2inch.
It always makes me smile when I get that B&B notification. The really cool thing is we never know what is going to be revealed.
Thanks for keeping us up to date on all the latest and greatest tools being released. It is much appreciated.
Two more coming today!
I agree great channel 👍
So it's a worse version of the milwakee copper cutter as you have to change heads or buy it separately...
You broke the internet with the image of dewalt and Milwaukee tools working together.
Good day B&B from mid Tn. I hope y'all are having a great day.
So I bought the M12 versions of both of these and they're great. I paid $99 for the copper tubing cutters and got the PVC cutters as a rebate. $120 isn't terrible if they function well, but it does take up an impact driver so it's really $120 +Impact driver. If you had an extra laying around then maybe it's justifiable, but you have a much bulkier tool and my bag is already full to the brim so m12 would still be my choice if I was using these daily. If this is geared towards DIYers then it needs to be much cheaper for them to not use their sawz-all or manual cutters. I see this being an impulse purchase that's regretted in the long run.
Cool concept. The success or fail is totally riding on the universal clamp mechanism
Having a pvc cutter that doesn't go up to 3" is basically unless, if it did I'd buy it tomorrow.
Oh that’s awesome!! I have the metal shear attachment but definitely getting that copper tubing cutter … thanks for always keeping us updated with all the latest and greatest…
Lol apparently dewalt didn’t notice that Milwaukee already makes both of these in an actual tool and the tubing cutter can cut multiple sizes with no adjustments. I see very few professionals using gadgets like this. Imagine you need to cut pipe and drive screws, are you supposed to take this contraption on and off each time?? Not to mention how expensive they are. Milwaukee’s copper cutter tool costs less than these ridiculous things!
It’s a weird middle market thing. Ppl who don’t cut copper/PVC often just use manual cutters or a saw. Pros doing this all day aren’t gonna want to deal with swapping attachments on and off
These are awesome they actually have some new FLEXTORQ 3/8" and 1/4" Square Drive Modular Right Angle Attachments. Like the right angle drivers for bits but these accept sockets.
WOW 😲! All plumbers will be extremely excited to have this type of tool. It is very convenient and efficient for achieving speed on a job. I'll need to see this tool in action.
Normal pipe cutters take no time to use anyway. I can’t see how this is going to speed a job up unless your cutting a lot of pipe for a huge job like in a factor or skyscraper.
Yeeeeah… no. As a Plumber there is no way in hell I could use these oversized attachments they look extremely front heavy and the bulkiness is ridiculous.
Nope as a plumber why would I buy this one when Milwaukee does 1/2 to 1’ all in one tool, that dewalt is just an extra piece to add on a drill
I can’t see how this is better than something like the OX polyzip pipe cutter. I can’t imaging this being better/quicker than that. Plus it looks like the plastic pipe might be slight squished when cutting. Not all power tools and better than hand tools.
Those are a bit bulky, m12 copper cutter and m21 2"pvc cutter is the way to go...
100% agree, and I hate admitting that because all my tools are dewalt. There's no way I'd pay $119 for that bulky copper cutter when the Milwaukee one is $149 bare tool, definitely worth the extra $30. Also from the video's description it sounds like there's a separate cutting wheel for 1/2" and 3/4" unless I misunderstood? If that's true then that's an added inconvenience of having to switch wheels for different size copper, and 1" wheel is sold separately. With the m12 you just slap it on the pipe and it's good to go. I was holding off on getting the m12 until dewalt came out with one, looks like it's still gonna be the m12 for me
I personally don’t have any use for them but they are very good speciality power tools 🙂✌️❤️
Also check out the lowes web sight for a new XR cordless ratchet dcf510b. It's a flat head design with an exchangeable drive socket 3/8 or 1/2. It looks pretty nice. It says unavailable now. I think mac has one out but I could be mistaken.
Will the copper cutter have blades that can cut steel pipe as well? Like the new milwaukee raptor?
Could pair it with the Dewalt pipe threader and you're 2/3rds of the way to a bare minimum mobile pipe threading setup.
My hot takes on the Dewalt attachments:
The copper cutter:
It is so much less convenient than Milwaukee's, which the latest version of can cut steel pipe as well as copper, without changing blades/heads, etc. If you need a different cutting head for every size of pipe from 3/8" to 1", you will need to pack around the equivalent of a medium case of pipe cutting dies, just to match a previous generation base tool cutting range.
I have almost nothing but Dewalt tools. But even I had to branch out and get the Milwaukee copper cutter and pvc cutter (though regretting this last one).
Even then, that was a splurge that only gets used when installing new copper. Which is rare these days with all the micro-plastic delivery systems being so much cheaper.
For pure demolition of copper it's a waste and a risk to the tool. Just use a Sawzall, other, etc. Faster, safer. Trapped water falling into tools is a bad day.
I'll give this dewalt copper cutter one advantage over the milwaukee cutter. It's probably much more resistant to getting water damage when cutting overhead pipe that may have water in it still. Fast way to lose the red team cutter. But you're still better off in both cases to use a Sawzall or other cutting tools. Manual cutter if you need clean cuts as well as water safety. But thats a rare situation.
PVC Cutter:
The Dewalt PVC cutter looks great, though. Especially its speed, cutting size and *seemingly* straiter cuts (this will sell if for me). I have the milwaukee 12v pvc cutter and it broke on me after a few cuts. Planetary gears all fell off their pins.
Got it repaired and same thing happened again after a few cuts. Seeing what the insides of the tool looks like, I'm seeing similar issues as their 1/2 impact wrench: "Updated design" of existing model falling apart. Planetary gears only held in place by mild magnetism, which gets disrupted if there's certain kinds of internal wear.
I totally agree as a plumber I said why would I buy a tubing cutter that fits on my impact driver when Milwaukee does it so much better ( which I have ) 119 for dewalt or 159 for the Milwaukee bare tool and it does 1/2 to 1 inch all in one
In residential work copper is still used exclusively with press fittings for boilers and radiant heating systems instead of pex which restricts flow
@@maxfathi596 they have systems other than copper that doesn’t restrict flow maybe not so much for heating but definitely for water
I’m always a fan to see Dewalt news
Good idea 💡 for sure ,me personally wont get it i only by red lol.
The tin cutter fits the gen 2 m12 impact perfectly.
Another idea (mostly fanciful spitballing at this point, not an expectation):
An option to remove the 1/4 hex shaft from the attachment and leave the 1/4 hole it occupied so that the bit your currently using can slide into said hole which could lock onto the thin torque flex section of most common bits. Since the hole is hex 1/4 shaped, a hex shafted drillbit would actuate it just like the built-in hex shaft.
This would speed up swapping between the attachment and drillbit by a lot.
Kind of like when you add the collated screw attachment to the drywall drill.
Now, they need to make an impact connect propress tool😄
Looks bulky af for me, but we'll see
Great way to cut down on costs for the end user.
I can see a PVC cutter in my future, as hand cutters are never dead on straight.
Sounds like a winner to me!
You can use something like the OX polyzip pipe cutter which cuts like a copper pipe cutter. I can’t imaging this being better/quicker than that. Plus it looks like the plastic pipe might be slight squished when cutting.
@@mrfr87 While the Ox Polyzip is a PVC cutter the investment for the 1 1/4 and the 1 1/2" models is approx $90.00 if you have to buy blades it is another $35.. Aside from the cost, it is multiple tools to locate and keep track of.
The Dewalt is one blade, multiple size pipe. It is made for us less than young tradesmen. In saying that time will tell whether it will be a hit or a flop when it is reviewed.
" Plus it looks like the plastic pipe might be slight squished when cutting." This can be expected when a blade is forced though a pipe instead of cutting/scoring the outside edge of it.
Looks like a weapon straight out of the Dead Space games 😂
Now they should update the turboshears so they aren't crap.
I already have milwaukee pvc and copper cutters.....
Izzy Swan turns drills into every other tool. Why shouldn't DeWalt?
Why carry these around instead of the dedicated m12 tools?
Needed this this week lol
I have been waiting for something like this. but whatever happened to the new drywall screw gun from like 8 months ago...
Might get tak to court there yellow team
Way to go Dewalt Set the standard don't follow Following is nice but when you are the ones sitting the standard then everybody's gonna come up to your level which then gives you time to excel when you set the next level🏁👍
M12 cutters are auto 1/2 to 1 inch and it’s cheap too. Honestly not sure whose going to really buy this except for those annoying big box Sunday morning shoppers.
Need a cable cutter up to 4/0
Idk, kinda like the workout I get from the ole ratcheting PVC shear.
Dewalt is stepping up ?
HUGE disappointment from Dewalt (copper cutter), this tool is big, bulky and will not fit in tight spaces and you have to change the cutters from each size. Just buy the Milwaukee it adjusts from 3/8 to 1" automatically and its very compact!!
I really disappointed that they didn't make a copper tubing cutter that would work for hvac work as well. I do mostly hvac work, and have the sheet metal cutting impact attachment and I love it (despite the reviews on it) for cutting plenums. If they create cutting attachments that cut copper from 1/4" up to 5/8", I would be super excited. Maybe they will add more sizes of cutting wheels for these later.
Auto copper cutters are finicky on smaller dia tubing. My m12 is noticeably more stable on 3/4” and up than 1/2” ID pipe
I can’t imagine it would be usable on a 3/8” OD ACR liquid line. Maaaaybe vapor side but who’s gonna carry around a whole nother tool for the handful of cuts needed for a split sys install
Neat
Bad ass!
I don't work with copper pipe so I don't know how helpful that attachment would be but the pvc one seems pretty useless. Most people would use a sawzall or bandsaw and pvc doesn't have to be a perfect cut. But it's nice to see dewalt innovate
A PVC cutter definitely is useful. An out of square cut decreases glue contact area, and sawzall burrs or jagged edges left inside a pipe can catch junk in a pipe resulting in a clog. Clean smooth cuts means less time deburring or re-cutting
If you do drainage, yes. If do furnace venting, the PVC chips may flow to furnace so you want to clean these chips after each cut.
dewalt ftw!
😮 somebody come here and slap me, I might just buy something yellow if you don't
All still shots, nothing showing them working.
This is a press release my man. It's rare that anyone (except Milwaukee) includes footage in their press releases. You'll see them working when they get in the hands of reviewers.
This is just stupid. They can just put brushed motor and a gearbox for several usd and get rid of the second tool. Or if they want to make it brushless powerful etc.. make a separate head and attachments.
Milwaukee copper pipe cutter is much better and more compact design. Works great too. As far as the pvc cutter may be ok but I feel like it's big and wouldn't be good for tight spaces.
They fit like crap.
I have the dewalt impact shear attachment and they don't fit well on Makita or Milwaukee drills or impacts at all. The lower part always pops off no matter how much you tighten it
Sarah looks so beautiful I think she should have her own show great episode
Too long.
