I have no idea why RUclips recommended your channel but I'm very happy. I'm approaching middle age and want down to earth advice on how to stay in shape... I'm quite tired of the common RUclips fitness experts, lots of over complicated and contradictory advice. Thank you
You're in great shape! 57 year old female gym junkie myself! Sadly, fit females are perceived as stupid bimbos. That is so frustrating! When I leave the gym, I go home, shower, and go to work as a nurse for 10-12 hours. Keep up the good work!
Great job! Thanks for watching and thanks for the great job you do as a nurse. I think males get similar stigma. People think they are narcissistic playboy types. Im just here trying not to die young!! Thanks again and have a great day!
It’s funny that females who are regularly exercise are perceived as stupid when they clearly have the brains to take care of themselves. I’d imagine most people who think gym junkies are stupid are probably overweight, lazy and stupid.
@@MichaelB2L I prefer to have brains AND gains. Sadly, nurses are some of the most unfit people I know. I get a lot of shade for my "shape" even from other medical personnel. They think I eat like a rabbit and live at the gym while I'm clearly at work every day cramming in huge healthy meals between patients. They are blind to what actually works.
Thank you, it's true how we start to feel at middle age that this is sometimes an excuse. Eating clean and lifting weight consistently for 4 years here. No six pack yet but I'm healthy and I can eat heaps. I feel fantastic and today I even did a forward flip on the trampoline with my kid. Doesn't sound like much but that feels like an achievement at 46
Thanks SCC. Congrats on your fitness journey, that is awesome! I think the 6 pack thing is personal preference aesthetically. It doesnt really denote any health aspect. Plenty of people much fitter than me who dont have abs displayed. You have to weigh the desired aesthetic against your food intake preference. Nice one on the front flip!!

I'm 38 and I have recently started my fitness journey. Been overweight pretty much all my life, not drastically, but never been fit or happy with my appearance. Although I dabbled in training when I was young and I've been pretty sporty playing rugby in my teens and 20s, I've always struggled with the balance between diet and fitness. In Sept I had ballooned to 230lbs at a height of 5'8", so I decided to get a health and nutrition coach. Through pretty much doing exactly what you have said in this video 5 days weight training 30mins cardio daily I've dropped 30lbs and I have another 30lbs in my sights to go before start to build muscle and add calories. I've fallen down the RUclips misinformation rabbit hole of late and your video is so refreshing as it's given me the faith that I am actually on the right path and I need to just keep going. I am the person who has done the fad diets and ended up heavier than when I started because they were quick fixes and didn't give me the tools I needed to sustain a healthy weight and lifestyle moving forward. I can speak from experience to what you say because I have been depressed, demotivated and frustrated with how I look. It affected me and everyone around me because I looked to blame everyone else for why I felt the way I did instead of looking at the reason I was feeling that way and taking action. I now love to go to the gym and train where as before I couldn't stomach it because of poor self-perception. Im amazed at how different I feel by just taking care of myself. Health and fitness isn't something that should have an end goal ......I'm hoping to make this a way of life and continue to improve and build upon what I have achieved. But most importantly not tear myself down because it's not happening fast enough or allowing all the marketing BS to cloud what is a healthy approach to maintaining healthy body and mind. Thanks for a refreshingly honest video.
Good on you mate, there's no such thing as magic, no matter how many times someone tries to tell you bla bla bla is it somehow. Keep things as simple as you can, until you've got a good few weeks of regular training under your belt. The hardest part of serious lifestyle change isn't the size of the goal, it's the time you give yourself to get on the right track. Once you've got that track record of regular attendance, you'll be loving the difference you can already feel, you haven't hurt yourself or burnt out from pushing too hard too soon. That time really let's you see what you do & don't enjoy. For example, my sis loves cardio but it bores me to tears, so I'll do way more resistance training.
Honestly, hand on heart, one of the best and honest vids I’ve ever watched on YT. So much BS and mis-direction out there, refreshing to hear your take and will take it on board. I'm a 62 year old female and have worked out since my teenage years. At 59 I joined a high impact Zumba class late and SMOKED ALL the the 20 and 30 year old ladies in class. When class was over the instructor thanked me for joining the class and bringing so much energy to the class because they were trying to keep up with me, so sad. I'm a landlord and my workers don't think twice about asking me to help lift something heavy. I always thought eating a bunch of rabbit food was bs, because there was NO WAY I could carry 50-60 pounds of top soil or concrete eating a salad. Financially I could hire someone to do what I do, but why on earth would I pay them to have all that fun🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am 44 & I look a lot younger & healthier. I like gym classes but only go a few weeks a year, when my fitness fanatic twin sister comes to town, I go with her. Lol! There's a woman or man like you in a lot of the classes - so you won't catch me out! Lol! I wouldn't even try to match you! 😂❤
Lol, he replied, but he's the 2nd quality you tubing, fit English male in his 40's, who wears a sh*tload of Superdry. Matt Easton from Scholar Gladiatoria is the other. I understand they're a premium Japanese brand who do simple comfortable designs with quality.
I agree the "bad" food is processed food. It goes together with what you said about us having more time than we think. Time spent watching shorts could be spent cooking whole foods.
I agree with the other positive comments on here. THANK YOU for being so honest and doing this out of the goodness of your heart (not financial gain). You're a good dude. The world needs more people like you.
Great video Sir! I'm a personal trainer and I agree 100% with you. Thanks for telling the truth. I lost over 100 pounds and kept if off 17 years ago so I back everything you're saying. I'll be sharing your video.
Also, the once a weak 'cheat meal' can work for some. It works for you. But it can also turn into a 'cheat day' rather than a 'cheat meal' for some of us who have binge eating tendencies. it's like if you're a recovering alcoholic and allowing yourself to get drunk once per week, it's easy to backslide into old habits. Jeff Cavalier of Athlean-X has one cheat meal a year, which is a slice of cake. That's it. Different strokes for different folks.
high volume low calorie food, that is what I do, I'm 45 and have 10% body fat. 6 days a week train, 3 weights and 3 boxing. spot mate with everything in my book. great video
I’m new to your channel and enjoying your vids. There’s a lot of research on effective weight training. What’s important to know for us older gym rats is that you don’t need to train to failure. You get 99% of the benefits leaving 1 or 2 reps in the tank… BUT you get a much greater reduced risk of injury and much faster recovery when you train just short of failure.
Great video mate and well done on your achievement. Really appreciate how you wrote everything out for us too, god bless and wish u all the best for the future
Great post! You explained what I tried to others. Tired but keyed in. Others refused to stick to it and falloff because of being uncomfortable. It becomes less and less uncomfortable as you go. Age is only a number... We have to pay attention to lol
Great video and great advice!! I'm right there with you. Been about 230 lbs for years and years and years (Mid 40s). This past summer I just decided to cut out exces junk food. Lost a few pounds over a month and that was enough motivation to go full bore with loosing weight and getting in shape. Started using a calorie/macro counter app to keep a calorie budget and started working out 3-4 days per week (upper lower split) with 20-30 minutes of cardio after. I'm now down to 190 lbs 6 months later and am still going strong. Eating more whole foods, adding weigh protein powder to keep my protein intake up around 160g/day, but still allowing myself a little treat every now and then. No foods are off limits, but foods high in calories and low in nutrition are kept to a minimum. I haven't looked this good since my early twenties.
I like it. I agree with you, it’s all about consistency. I usually train 5 days a week but I can attest that you can’t out train a crap diet. I work in the law enforcement business so I can relate to needing to be in fighting shape at all times. Great work brother.
Thanks for your service. You are 100% right on the diet. The gyms are full of people who wonder why they dont get results. Its 70% about diet, the training is the easy/fun part!!
64, saw you today thought I would join and see if I can gain some motivation. I have the desire. Let’s see how this goes. I have been thinking about a whole foods plant based diet. My struggle is I’ve had bariatric surgery and getting enough protein without having to consume large amounts of food. The more I can learn through this journey the better off I’ll be.
I did a plant based diet post injury. I bought into the whole healing/plants movement. It did nothing to heal me and I lost a lot of muscle tissue! It can be done but as you say it involves the digestion of very large volume to get the protein values up there. I couldnt deal with consuming that much plant matter and nobody in my vicinity would have appreciated the gas by product!!
Love your story and advice this has definitely given me motivation at the age of 39 to carry on with my weight loss journey. After many failed attempts !!! Thank you 🙌🏼
Thanks for the vid, a lot of what you say is relatable to myself, I was a bit of a mess in 2020, overweight and very unfit I watched some good vids on youtube which got me thinking and started taking action, I cleaned my diet up and immediately got results, I also do fasting and the gym at least 3 times a week, I follow another youtuber who honestly changed my life, I dont want to hijack your thread so let me know if you dont mind me naming him. I think the basic rules to follow are sugar and processed carbs are absolute poison and resistance training is the way forward especially as you get older.
5.11 best of the best. Diet + fitness with no smoking and alcohol = good mind and body levels. I'm 58 years old. Try to keeping this simple rules. My fitness level is 47 year old and proud of that.

Late arrival here... 17:30 about waking up and feeling amazing... NO! I'm 39 with Tourette's and bad arthritis. I HURT! But I will say I feel 100 times better after my morning work out at 5:00 am. It helps loosen up my muscles, especially my low back which is the worst in the morning. I've never been a real morning person but just do it! Go to the gym before work. Thanks for the great idea at 36:10. I've started mixing yogurt and casein as my late night snack. Casein is a little hard for me to get enthusiastic about, but now I look forward to my yogurt with something for flavor.
No problem bud. Glad it was useful!! Stawberry casein and natural yoghurt with a few red grapes or strawberries is the bomb!
Thanks, enjoyed your video.. being an “ older guy” I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.. staying in shape when you’re 30 is no big deal. Banging on the door of 60 is a different story.. ha ha.. appreciate ya, be well.
Great info, straight to the point and simple. I will give it a go.😊
Once again I thank you for your time and effort in sharing your knowledge, experience and encouragement, on how to live a healthy lifestyle. 🙂
I also have cruciferous leafy greens, and at least one clove of garlic a day, it is amazing. ✌️👍
Well done. You've re inspired me to sort myself out after a few weeks out of the gym, daily drinking and lack of motivation. Cheers 👍
Thank you for sharing your experience special for over 40 years who look to get healthy and in shape
Glad I found this channel, you’re an interesting bloke with a lot to say but not big headed in the slightest. Great content on your channel mate, all the best to you
@@tylerdurden4289 Thanks and glad you like the content. Love the @ BTW! 80s version was the best..
I am 38 started getting into fitness pilates tea-bo and mauy thai now.
This used to be imposible for because of health issues that got fixed becuase of a reversed misdiagnosis.
thanks for making this.
Most people will listen to your video in think about time well done. The truth and people like me would love to see your training how you do your training workouts and a bit more into your diet. If not thanks for this video and cheers for telling the truth.💪👍
That is awesome to hear Mica!! Stay strong!!!

Great video, there's definitely a trend with these influences overcomplicating things!
Where do you get your shirts from? Love em
Thanks! Superdry!
Lol, he replied, but he's the 2nd quality you tubing, fit English male in his 40's, who wears a sh*tload of Superdry. Matt Easton from Scholar Gladiatoria is the other.
I understand they're a premium Japanese brand who do simple comfortable designs with quality.
thanks for sharing your regimen....refreshingly sensible and real presentation.
What a great video, thank you for the information, I’m gonna give it a go!!
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful information thanks
Good for you! I hope that I can do it this time for good. Make the full commitment of changing my lifestyle. 31 years old and already had a scare.
You can do it!
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is inspiring me to continue on my journey to a healthy life.
I agree the "bad" food is processed food. It goes together with what you said about us having more time than we think. Time spent watching shorts could be spent cooking whole foods.
I enjoy your channel. Great info. Thank you
Thanks Marty!
I agree with the other positive comments on here. THANK YOU for being so honest and doing this out of the goodness of your heart (not financial gain). You're a good dude. The world needs more people like you.
Thank you!
Very honest, well balanced, and motivating.
Great job and thanks for sharing. I love the simplicity.
Best advice I have seen for a long time
Thank you! At last someone saying it how it is. Brilliant video 👍
Great video Sir! I'm a personal trainer and I agree 100% with you. Thanks for telling the truth. I lost over 100 pounds and kept if off 17 years ago so I back everything you're saying. I'll be sharing your video.
Thx Buddy! Really glad you liked it!!
Wow! Love your honesty. If this isn’t motivation I don’t know what is.
Thanks for the information 👍. I need to here this .I'm 2 months into getting in shape
Jeff is a liar. You can eat anything, just do exercise and cardio. Don't overeat too many times.
Found this video super helpful. No nonsense with great information.
high volume low calorie food, that is what I do, I'm 45 and have 10% body fat. 6 days a week train, 3 weights and 3 boxing. spot mate with everything in my book. great video
This guy is a breath of fresh air! Keep making vids. Only thing I would say is please create chapters :D
Good idea
As a woman I found this video absolutely point on the truth!!
Thanks for watching Marina! It is great to have some female input here! Have a fantastic day!!
I like this vid…quite relatable & devoid of usual BS on these kinda topics…kudos for courage to pull this off bro.
Great video, I'm nearly 52 & I follow a diet & exercise regime similar to yours. Everything you say is correct, it ends up being a way of life.
You have me inspired. Thank you.
Brilliant, thank you so much!
Great video mate and well done on your achievement.
Really appreciate how you wrote everything out for us too, god bless and wish u all the best for the future
Much appreciated!
Inspirational ❤definitely need to work out
I needed this!
Chris, thanks for this personal update. I'm approaching 60 so your insights was on point for checking that 'just-let-it-go' mindset.
Glad it was helpful!
The unbiased nature of the video is where the real value is. Decent.
Thanks for the comment. Appreciated!
Very inspirational, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great useful content and no fluff. All the best keep pressing.
Thank you 🙌🏼
Great video👍 And love your shirt.
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks for the vid, a lot of what you say is relatable to myself, I was a bit of a mess in 2020, overweight and very unfit I watched some good vids on youtube which got me thinking and started taking action, I cleaned my diet up and immediately got results, I also do fasting and the gym at least 3 times a week, I follow another youtuber who honestly changed my life, I dont want to hijack your thread so let me know if you dont mind me naming him. I think the basic rules to follow are sugar and processed carbs are absolute poison and resistance training is the way forward especially as you get older.
Im 49, decided to get fit when COVID came along. Achieved decent results, but ive had several episodes of tendonitis. Thanks
This is a great video! The man knows his Chit!
Thanks!
13:40 best advice I could ever get about overtraining and fat burning thank you so much
5.11 best of the best. Diet + fitness with no smoking and alcohol = good mind and body levels. I'm 58 years old. Try to keeping this simple rules. My fitness level is 47 year old and proud of that.
Nice job, dude -- both in your results and in your explanations. Much of your personal history mirrors my own so I can relate to it. I just subscribed and look forward to insights in your future content.
Thanks Fill, really glad you liked the content!
Fantastic honest video,speaking the truth,great work mate👍💪🇦🇺
Good ole muscle memory nice work getting closer to where you were at physically especially for your age bracket.
Great advice. Thanks for sharing this. I'm in my 50s now and ready to hit it and get me into breeding stud shape. I've been looking for this exact advice, you're a badass!

Thank you sir for your honesty. 💯🇬🇧🇯🇲👍
Awesome advice thank you everyone should see this video
Great content mate. Much love from down under.
Thanks Tommy, glad to hear that!! Have a great day bud!
You will feel better all day, mentally AND physically!
Agree and well done for going. Most people would use arthritus as a reason NOT to gp...
How is this not viral? A video every gymbro should see
Thanks bud, really appreciate the support!
because it all makes sense. People want to be lied to hun...
@@kwameadams1140 That is very true. The reason all these crazy supplement and easy fat loss programs sell is because they provide what people want to hear, not what actually works..
Too many people want the chest code or magic pill unfortunately.
New subscriber thank you, dealing with blood pressure
Mine was high when I started this regimen. It was 170 over 95. Now down to 130/80. Cutting all overly salted foods was the biggest game changer.
@@thatgearguy Thank you, I will follow your nutrition and exercise regimen, and thank you for your advice, I'm 55 years old needed this video. Very inspiring
Good work boss 🙏🏾
Almost 47 and getting motivated again.
Thanks 🤘🏻
