Hi Maddie, I recently found your channel and I must say I quite enjoy your vlogs. It feels nice to see a more "human" side to navigating grad school. I'm a first year undergrad student studying nursing in Canada, so I'm probably not your target audience but I still quite enjoy your videos. At first I wanted to pursue the stem field and do bio but I ended up choosing nursing instead. It's really eye-opening seeing the work that you do and you are motivating me to do well in undergrad so that I can go to grad school too. You're like total goals, and I strive to girlboss like you while maintaining a healthy work-life balance!
Thank you so much for your kind words! My target audience is whoever finds my videos helpful/entertaining, so you are just the person. My mom still works as a nurse and my dad started his career as a nurse, so I have a lot of respect for choosing nursing! There's lots of overlap between STEM and nursing in my opinion, plus you add in a human element and high stakes. I could never lol. I hope your first year is going well!
this was a super interesting watch/listen because i love hearing about people’s differing phd experiences. it sounds like you’ve done [& built] a lot of really cool things during your time in grad school-you should be really proud! the reading comment is so real. i just re-added google scholar alerts because they previously stressed me out lol. but trying harder to stay more connected to the recent lit related to my topic. congrats on all your hard work this semester/year 🎉
Thank you so much! Kudos to you for the google alerts. I still don't know that I will ever get there, but with all the writing I have been doing recently, reading has definitely become more of a regular occurrence in my daily activities.
