@@AndrewPittArtist Thank you - I am making progress . . . however . . . as I work across the sheet of paper (left to right), I find that the area at the bottom of my work on the left has dried by the time I finish the far right of the sheet. As a result, the colours do not blend top to bottom as I would like. Working on two things now: speed and more water in the mix (but then - dry brush is impossible). Loving the challenge!

What a nice demonstration. I've been trying to get a decent painting out in woods for years. Most of my woods paintings get too busy. I like being out, painting is something to do while I'm there. I like streams too, they seem a bit easier. I'll look through your demos for a stream. Cheers.
It was an excellent guide in how to deal with a complicated woodland scene. I have often wondered how to take this type of view and translate it into a decent painting. Your tips on simplifying the scene was useful I will certainly make an attempt at such a scene now I have your explanation, thanks for posting.

Hello from Winnipeg in Canada 🇨🇦. Andrew, thanks for another great demonstration. I was hoping to paint a forest scene, as we have plenty of Boreal forests in Canada. I was unsure about painting a forest, because of the complexity. This demonstration is a big help. By the way, I have the exact same easel. My father bought the same Winsor and Newton easel in Montreal in the 1960’s and I am using it for watercolour painting. The easel is practically new, and it saved me from having to buy a new one.
It's a delight listening to you and watching you paint. In its loose rendering you captured the scene with its lights and shadows and it was refreshingly done. Thank you Sir for a beautiful demonstration.😊
This one turned out very "Sargently"! The blue on the left with the gold on the right of the trunk, and the darker green in the background. And, great dry-brush in the foreground. I must remember to squint more than I do for values and less detail observation. Thanks, Andrew!
Beautiful Andrew! I was just painting a similar scene on the Oregon coast. Lots of driftwood that can look very abstract. Had to do a lot of editing to make a painting out of it. Love how fresh you keep your colors. I think I need to do more of that. I tend to use too much water and not get as saturated as you do. Thanks for the lesson!
Thanks very much. Yes, it’s worth remembering that watercolours tend to dry lighter and allow for that and water is the element that is hardest to control. Paint consistency is always difficult to judge. I often tell students to paint with watercolour not coloured water. Thanks for getting in touch. Good luck.

Perhaps John Singer Sargeant could have painted this. But I'm far from certain that he would have done such a good job. Thank you very much for this excellent demonstration.
Although you make it look easy - it is complicated. I got a bit confused when you began using the greens because you had mentioned the sky, but the more detail you added you did explain more explicitly, it made sense. I'm an avid fan although I'm more of a viewer than a painter. I haven't learned enough to paint often. You provide us such a great opportunity to learn with perspective.
I dabble a bit in painting with acrylic, only tried watercolour as a kid 80 yrs ago. I noticed that you go with same brush to add another colour to your paintbox and your water is very ‘coloured’. Does that effect the colour you are trying to obtain? Love the result 👍👍👏👏
If you have a reasonably sized water pot I don’t think the ‘’coloured’’ water has much effect unless you have used a lot of strong, staining colours and want to use a light pure colour. More videos on my website, www.andrewpitt.co.uk

I like your direct approach to painting. I noticed that you didn’t paint wet-in-wet. Do you ever wet the paper first? Thanks for the video.
Thank you. No, I very rarely wet the paper. I don’t find it necessary. The moisture on the paper dilutes the paint and makes it hard to control.

Although you make it look easy - it is complicated. I got a bit confused when you began using the greens because you had mentioned the sky, but the more detail you added you did explain more explicitly, it made sense. I'm an avid fan although I'm more of a viewer than a painter. I haven't learned enough to paint often. You provide us such a great opportunity to learn with perspective.

I dabble a bit in painting with acrylic, only tried watercolour as a kid 80 yrs ago. I noticed that you go with same brush to add another colour to your paintbox and your water is very ‘coloured’. Does that effect the colour you are trying to obtain? Love the result 👍👍👏👏
If you have a reasonably sized water pot I don’t think the ‘’coloured’’ water has much effect unless you have used a lot of strong, staining colours and want to use a light pure colour. More videos on my website, www.andrewpitt.co.uk
