A LOT of your customers need to clean their houses. Wholly moley man
Nice video Steve, i learn alot watching vids...thanks
Great work Steve! You really get to work in some quality homes sometimes!
garunteeing drain cleaning good way to go out of business fast ... nice work steve
Feel like I should be wearing gloves just watching these videos, minging houses!
another great video. thanks for sharing.
That whole setup looks ridiculous
Good job. Thanks for the video.
years ago my mom dropped plastic in the kitchen sink, my uncle had to fish it out of the disposal with a pair of 24" needle nose pliers. Next level!
another fine job Steve u and baby dog
Great job Steve! How many comments say "you should've re-piped the house", lol!
i was there to get the tub draining ,,,thats what i did .sure supertech will say all kinds of stuff .i only do what i get payed for .
Hey! Steven your good!! 👍🏻✌🏻
How many different styles of plumbing can someone connect together lol
The Dog says " WOOF , BARK BARK BARK, WHINES, BARKS "
Gee- if they had had a strainer in the tub maybe this wouldn't happen???
read my mind dollar store strainer no need for a plumber
If only people understood where their water comes from, how, and where where it goes after they’re done with it, we’d all be better off.
Normally the drain plug it self has the strainer with plug built into the fitting so you can't drop large items (I could imagine a rat or pop comming out if that
The usual explanation applies - they're tenants. No skin in the game. Inconvenience the landlord to deal with an issue caused by the tenant's lack of personal responsibility. And get the landlord pay for the tenant's fault.
Probably not even paying rent during COVID.
"why do you wear gloves I can never figure it out" lol I love it
Because some things are dirty
culverts 210 who are you responding to? I was quoting from the video, were you dumb enough to think I was asking a question?
Yes because he says it a million times in his videos. I started muting them!
I find all kinds in drains. But how do you get a plastic shopping bag in there? Find them all the time..."why would you wear gloves?" Lol. Classic
I've seen some rigged plumbing in my life but that is definitely backyard plumbing 101...lol Hey, water drains uphill!
My bathtub drains uphill too.
Local school once asked if I can go look at a sink that wasn’t draining, I found 11 butter knives in that p-trap lol glad they weren’t real knives cause I reached my fingers in there
Hey, those unbelievable connections end up making you money!
what was the odd find? what was the problem about gloves?
I don't miss doing those jobs but I always felt good when I got the job done. I am a Inspector now. Thinking about it I do kinda miss the hands on stuff.
Next level Steve
What did that hose go to? The dishwasher?
That's not much of a drain for a bathtub. wow. What's the dishwasher drain doing in the basement? weird! Great video Steve, have a nice weekend.
This is what they don't tell you about being a landlord.
Is there a dishwasher draining it that? And, kitchen & bath drains are different diameters; 1 1/4 & 1 1/2. I can see an issue connecting those pipes based on that alone!
Did you leave the baffle in that fitting? Why can't you file the baffle off?
Have you tried a wet dry vacuum
That is one rank looking bath tub!
First rule as a landlord DONT spend any money!
Man, there’s some people with pretty filthy bathrooms
That's some plumbing. All that tubular plastic, the dishwasher tailpiece down there instead of under a sink and the furnco without the metal band clamp. Looks like the landlord has been doing some plumbing on the side. And not his good side. Lol. At least you got them draining agin Steve. Fixed it and moving on!
To check for drain leaks I always fill tub ¾ full then release water. Just turning on faucet and letting water run is a method that can bite you.
Waste of water too.
@@Yophillips3272 how is it a waste if it keeps you from getting call backs.
@@Yophillips3272 it's the only correct way to check a drain for leaks.
@@engineclinic No, I was agreeing with you. In the video he said he ran the tub for 30 min. I thought that was too long. How long does it take to fill the tub and drain it maybe 5 min.
Good job, Steven!
Thanks a lot for the video!
Is that other Rube Goldberg connection for a dishwasher , was is plumbing repair for over 40 years never saw anything like that before.
I've been plumbing for 4 years and the shit I see home owners do make this not surprise me at all
@@force311999 they also make an indirect drain fitting for them
At least the tenant admitted what they did and you were told straight up what caused the problem, so you could solve it right away, instead of wasting time.
Even baby the dog was mystified by that tub drain. She stared out the open truck window as if to say, what a flipping mess!
Good job
Well done
A sawzal with a metal blade (to remove old brass spud) and a new ABS "Waste & Overflolw" kit yields a new tub spud (with a built in strainer and depress-able plug ) and overflow cover. Kids will play..... and something else will end up in that 4- part tail-piece with the Y-branch section for the dishwasher. It's not pretty but that gas line in the way is the reason it's plumbed that way. It'll last forever if ya protect it with a permanent strainer.
once I heard "I dropped the cap down the drain" I would have grabbed the shopvac
Exactly where I would have started. Cover the overflow and put some suction on it. But hey, the cap might have been wedged in the pipe pretty good.
Does someone question you about wearing gloves or do these jobs without wearing gloves ????! Is that even possible?! You said it so many times I’m assuming it’s something your questioned about . That’s sounds absolutely crazy that someone would touch septic matter without covering or protecting there hands !
Thanks
Is that a branch tail piece on a tub? Where the heck is that legal? What would they have going into that.
Quite a professional looking caulk job
yeah, i thought they used a tennis racket to tool the joint. smoooth, baby!
This should be called: "I have a monster in my basement"
What cap?
me when i saw the crazy copper toilet pipe:nice plumbing heh heh...
im being sarcastic
Within. This particular video, horizontal section between rough brass p-trap, to existing sanitary tee to the left, would be very first place in correct direction towards problem
Man at least the house has a basement. I’m in Louisiana and rented a snake. My 8 year old son stuck a hot wheels car down the tub drain on the top in th bathtub. I hope we’re able to get this out. I rented a snake from Home Depot but only got a 50 foot
why is that odd?
11:00 🐕 dog is thinking that was a phucked up pipe job......
Looks like the hot and cold packing leaking too.
Wow, im no plumber, but youre so right - all that thin wall tubing under the floor, not even code im guessing, needs to be re-plumbed with hard line - should all be schedule 40 no-? And that dishwasher baffle has no place there either. As you said, the stuff you run into.
Talk about miss matched piping, in the basement plastic, to cast, to brass, back to plastic, back to cast, and a illegal fernco, in between...!!!
years of cobbed up repairs for sure, looks like my house! At least they admitted dumping the cap down the drain and didn't blame you....Was the cap caught in the elbow, or in the dishwasher drain baffle?
I guess a new tub valve is out of the question ⁉️
Flipping filthy. Was that a shop vac hose going into the cast iron?
No warranty without a secured drain cover
You can locate the cap by running your root cutter, then noting the distance it went.
Looks like the engine room of the titanic down there
and that is why they d not have shampoo bottle like that. Also put a hair strainer over the open drain...
Where did then drain hair stopper come from?
More important, where was it when the cap went down the drain?
So how do you fix this if you don't have a basement or crawl space to get under it to the pipes?
with diffculty! lol
Shop vac but likely would not have been an issue if underground piping as dishwasher drain tee with baffle would not have existed in the setup also would have proper drain radius fittings unfortunately exposed crawl space plumbing seems to invite cousin bob the hack to try and fix and you end up with a plumbing nightmare like that
9m nitrile extreme heavy duty gloves from harbor freight!!! They are great
Good looking watchdog u have there.
Couldn’t have been a plumber that installed that 🤪
Why do you wear gloves, lol
Love the vids dude
He broke out the blue monster!
How could a cap fit in there?
Maybe the dog plumbed it.
Are all those slip coupling legit? Geez, after seeing this setup, maybe my tub ain't so bad after all!
Those aren't "slip couplings". They're ferncos. They're designed for cast iron and pvc. Totally legal and required on cast iron piping.
@@Scott-eo7lj thank you for educating me. :-)
A little fritz on that trap plug?
Why you fix that correctly and redo the s trap and charge accordingly
Why isn't there a catch on that basket in the tub? That would have prevented all this!
I found 3 pristine looking fast food wrappers, the foil kind, not the paper… in the sewer. I sent the camera in, didn’t see nothin like that. I hear a flush in the bathroom. About 10 min later I’m pulling the camera out and bam.. 2 balled up and 1 that looked like somone put it down there so nice and neat… felt like I was being caught on camera
What the hell was wyed into the tub drain?
Trust me, you’ll be back to this one. Dopes like this, provide a secure income stream.
Kind of an odd place for the dishwasher drain to connect to.
Maybe by today's standards and codes, but certainly not in the 1960's when that train wreck was assembled.
why you wear glove? because you good plumber in the world.hahahahahaha :)
Your luck u have a basement to work through in Texas we have slab houses we won’t be able to do that
I’m hocked to ur videos..
gloves are used as safty due to hazardous stuff. bacteria, electricity, cuts and so on.
Electricity and cuts?
I hate houses that have a AC condensation lines tied into the ptraps, that condensation plaque algae clogs up your drain every summer
So I couple questions does every house you go to have a dog ha ha Ha
And I was curious what kind of camera you use for filming As always you’re fun to watch Steve I’ve done a lot of this work so this is enjoyable
Wow.. you should see the pipes in my 100 year old house..I am excited to be getting. New ones next week. Bye bye nasty galvanized crap.
Horizontal sections 90% problems, especially if poor strapping initially. Also if min 1/4 per foot, very least 1/8th per foot fall within new horizontal line isn't placed.
lol time for a new shower.
I had a toddler flush a paper dixie cup down the toilet it was just big enough to get caught on the flange for the wax ring, had to pull the toilet to get it out.
I can't believe he put that pvc from the tub to the trap back in there. I would have repiped it and let the customer know before hand that it's wrong.
Nothing wrong with it
@@truefalse207 really?
I've been a resedential service plumber for 5 year resedential new construction plumber 7 years and commercial new construction plumber 10years and you say nothing wrong!?
Whats wrong with it?
Next time use the shop vac to suck debris up instead of trying to blast it down.
agreed and its simple
Why do you wear gloves Steve?
No good housekeeping seal of approval
Where do you live buddy every house you go to looks like it should be in a horror film?
OMG!!! The plumbing and the house is a mess !!!!
Looks like that pipework raises up at the elbow🤔
what was plugged in it? hair
Shampoo bottle cap, no strainer on the tub
Aint no Taj Mahal!
ummmmmm.......this is unbelievable !
Just another reason I didn't go into plumbing! I did run with a couple of good plumbers. but after a few months of seeing the S*** SHOW I was done.
