Installed mine today by myself did not have to lower exhaust and everything went good, took about an 1 1/2 hours because i had to let the paint dry. I also installed the wiring for a trailer that i also bought from etrailer both work great and look great too... thanks etrailer.
I have installed 2 of these, one in a 2019 Crosstrek and the other in a 2023 model. Only issue is bolts should include 2 that are 1/4 inch longer, especially those that go where the 2 spacers are. There is barely enough thread to properly tighten the nuts. You don’t have to drop the muffler. I am 40 pounds above my ideal weight and still can squeeze under the car. I found useful to use a bungee cord to support the hitch on the driver’s side while you place the bolts through the corresponding holes. Don’t need to enlarge the entire hole. I used a small diameter round file to make a slot big enough for the bolt head

my question is do you really have to drop the muffler down to install the hitch? or is it possible to finagle it and reach with out that lol ..though i understand it would make it easier
The hitch really isn't meant to be removed once it's installed. You might be able to push the hardware back up into the frame member and fish it back out with a magnet by sliding it back to the access hole and pulling it out, but it won't be easy. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/etrailer/e98912.html
Just last week, 9-29-22, we purchased a new 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Limited. I see the Trailer Hitch (Item # e98912) does work on a 2022. But, it says it is not verified on a 2023 yet. Do you know when it will be verified to work on a 2023? Thank You for Your Help.
Most companies will rely on people like you who have the latest models to bring in the vehicle and let them test fit and install products on the vehicles. Normally we will have the new year confirmation fits by the end of the first quarter. Here is a link that shows available hitch receivers for a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek. Make sure to use the drop down menu to get the most specific item.
@@etrailer Thank you for your response. I contacted you (Etrailer) last week by chat first and then by phone to try and get more information about my year model fitting this particular hitch. They advised me to contact Subaru, which I did. Subaru said they could not let me know if any changes to the frame or muffler/tailpipe were made from the 2022 to 2023 year models. And, that I should use their hitch because any after market hitches would void my warranty. Their hitch is 1-1/4, and I need a 2" for my bike rack. Also, the two hitches you show to work on my 2023 Crosstrek are not what I'm wanting. One has the crossbar completely exposed. And the other has a receiver that uses one bolt that a thief could easily back out and steal the whole thing. The hitch I am wanting is (Item # e98912) shown in your RUclips video. My dilemma is that I don't live close to you (I live close to Los Angeles) for you to test my car. And, I'm wanting to install a hitch before the spring of next year to possibly know if it will work or not. I suppose I'm stuck for the time being. Still trying to find a solution. Thank you again for your advice and help.
It is hard to say because from exhaust to exhaust they could be run in slightly different routes. If the pipe runs where the factory exhaust is, this will work great. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/etrailer/e98912.html

Thanks for the tips!
Did you put the crosstrek up on jack stands or just crawl under it while it sat on the wheels?
Thank you for the video -clear, concise -straight to the point. Just ordered it from your site.

No need to drop exhaust… spacer blocks are not needed on a ‘24 at least. As long as you remove the extra seam sealer
Thank you!

Does this hitch fit to tow a jetski trailer?

FYI. Took a chance and bought (Item # e98912) for my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek. Installation worked on this vehicle.
Just placed one in my 2023 Crosstrek. Exactly the same as in my 2019
Could an aftermarket axelback exhaust get in the way of this installation?

Doesn’t start installation until 5 min in.
You can always fast forward through the description to get to the actual install.
