watching you put that keel guard on is like watching art in progress not only does it hopefully protect kayak but looks amazing too and I can't wait to apply this to my kayak thanks for the video
Thanks for you service to our country. I just got my 1st kayak and am researching ways to keep it in top shape. I didn't know Gorilla made that tape. Thanks for the video.
My experience has been that the Mirage Drive is great for shallow water in Florida. Have used them in less than 1 foot water... Gotta learn how to flutter pedal. Once I learned that the all was good. Give it a try if you haven't already... works wonders. Change the location of your circular lights next time. put them off to the side.
Amazing video! would you mind if you tell me your experience after couple use to the kayak? Also, If I took it out one time, is it going to affect the actual kayak or leave any marks on it? thanks
I was wondering if , without being fully glued , when friction happens does the rubber stretch and get sloppy? Did the project last very long , did it hold up well in salt water ? Thanks!!
Okay, the tubes used are fully covered by the tape so it is water tight, but being I have not paddled in salt water I don’t know how it would stand up over time.
Does that gorilla tape harden up, or does it stay soft? I’m curious as to how it actually protects the kayak. I’ve seen someone use pvc pipe, and can see how that would protect.
Hi from France ! Thank you for the video ! 😉👍
You’re so welcome

Thank you and thanks for watching.
Great Video and thank you for your service. My brother is a veteran and I have four generations of military in my family
Great Job😎👍
I just bought a lightning Strike kayak and I'm using this method to protect mine as well. Thats for showing this.
Carlton Phelps congratulations on your new yac. Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
Good stuff man! Going to use it on my kayak. My dad was a Vietnam vet too. Thank you
Great job and thank you for your service .
Patrick Cieslak thank you sir. Thanks for watching.
Nicely done. I use keeleazy on my kayak and gorilla tape for the mid and back section. Great product at reasonable price.
I’m gonna do this to my Compass now. Thanks for the video
Jimmy Inthaphanh Compass is a cool yak. Take your time with and it will turn out great! Thanks for watching.

Use 3mm Kydex. It heats and bends easily with a heat gun, creates a tough lasting hard plastic.
Great looking work
Thank you for your service sir! Tight lines!

Thanks Steve, it turned out the Hobie was not for me and I sold it.
I like the way the rear was done but I think I'm going to do the PVC pipe 1 for the front
Thanks Dale.
Mick Taylor you’re welcome Mick
Nice job.
When I was building wooden boat we would use 5200 to mount rubber under tanks
Mr. Dale, please let us know how well this has held up over time.
Matthew Austin I will. Don’t take out the Hobie much. Prefer my AE’s.
I was thinking about using aluminum tape
How has this held up so far? Looking at putting a keel guard onto my yak
Amazing video! would you mind if you tell me your experience after couple use to the kayak? Also, If I took it out one time, is it going to affect the actual kayak or leave any marks on it? thanks
I haven’t taken it out as yet, but I will advise when I do.
@@DaleMrDSimmons Thats perfect, I absolutely love your work your putting in and looking forward to your new videos.
Just wondering about use in saltwater. Is it still sticking to surface of kayak? That was my concern.
Susan Sibille Hi Susan, sorry I can’t answer that as I rarely paddle on salt water. I mostly paddle on rivers, creeks and lakes.
Dale Mr. D Simmons Thank you sir for your response. Good video.
I’m also wondering if the unglued parts of the tube stretched out over time?
Sorry, don’t understand your question.

Thanks for the info. I just bought a new Compass after wearing out a 2015 Revo.
How long did it all last so far in salt water? Very interested to know, thanks
Have not taken it on saltwater as yet.
What Gorilla tape did you use and how did it hold up (heavy duty, waterproof, etc.) Thanks
I used the 4” black waterproof
Does that gorilla tape harden up, or does it stay soft? I’m curious as to how it actually protects the kayak. I’ve seen someone use pvc pipe, and can see how that would protect.
WiffBob it stays pliable and works well.
PVC tape directly
That gorilla tape will scuff off
look at all that gear set up... LOL my goodness, this guy really believes anything worth doing is worth doing right, didnt cut any corners here.
