Just got my Compass home last night...first thing is to upgrade the turbo fins...not a big fan of the 180 drive...more moving parts, less reliability, so perfectly happy with the standard glide technology Mirage Drive with turbo fins...the square hatch, round hatch upgrades will be later as will the Hummingbird side scan and Berley Pro transducer cover...that is my setup on my 2016 Outback...
You prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last few months xD
Howie, thanks for the video. I'm placing my order soon for a Compass. I'll use it for BTB in Destin, Fl and fresh water ponds near the house. What's the approximate weight of your fine craft with all those goodies?
You should check out the video (Hobie pro angler 14 with Expandacraft Outrigger kit and 3.5 HP motor) That set up would take your craft to a whole other level.
Im sort of wondering why you guys dont just update this with the rectangular hatch in the middle and round up front...its what everyones modifying first anyways...
There are a few factors that are a bit more complicated but basically the way this one in particular is rigged would cost a few hundred more than just the Mirage Compass itself! The main goal of the Compass was to design and build a great platform for customizing and making you're own!
The Hobie Deck Pad kit material is stain resistant, but it's always best if it' cleaned after each use. Please keep in mind, fish blood is a lot easier to manage if it's cleaned right away. If you have some dried blood on the Deck Pads, hit it with a scrub brush and some biodegradable soap & water. Take care when scrubbing around the pad edges. A toothbrush works great for getting the edges or in between pad pieces.
So there's no MirageDrive 180 huh? Can you opt for it? For barely under 2K w/o tax, the MirageDrive 180 should've came with it stock (It's not 2012-13) + the paddle stick, rudder, and seat. As well as the rectangular hatch in the middle and the round hatch up front. Still overpriced.
Thanks for reaching out! Some people will definitely prefer an Outback, some people will prefer a more minimalist boat (like the Compass) and some people will want something somewhere in between. The beauty of this video is just to show all of the options that anyone could pick and choose to install/change to create a completely custom fishing kayak. Hope this helps!
Because the compass is easier to transport so it can be thrown into small ponds or used in the ocean. If someone bought a compass they can upgrade over time as budget affords to outfit it like a outback without taking such an initial hit.
The accessories added here are light weight. With the 400 lb capacity of the Compass, we're still within the weight limit for many users. The amount of gear you put on this kayak depends partially on the weight of the user and partially on the needs of the angler! Good luck out there!

This guy is the rigging master
I was going to see if you guys have a video of installing some handles for the side

@Angel Cannon Definitely, I have been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
@Angel Cannon yea, I have been using instaflixxer for since december myself =)

What is the total weight of this kayak with all these accessories?
... nice job... how much will cost?
so you don't fit the outrigger for compass?
Can you do the vertical rectangular hatch in the 2021 compass cockpit?
Yes, but not the 2022 because of the redesigned seat.
Should be awesome to know how much is to get a kayak like that, if you give me a price i have a target.
Just over $3,000 plus the price of the kayak which is just under $2,000
Im sort of wondering why you guys dont just update this with the rectangular hatch in the middle and round up front...its what everyones modifying first anyways...
Reason to make buyers buy more expensive hobie products. Money
How much is the complete set???

Few "thousand" more dollars hahah.
A little above $3000.
I was thinking the same thing. They took and entry level boat and added enough bling to out price a pro angler.
Does the SeaDeck blood stain?
The Hobie Deck Pad kit material is stain resistant, but it's always best if it' cleaned after each use. Please keep in mind, fish blood is a lot easier to manage if it's cleaned right away. Quanto custa um desse completo ?
Como comprar?
I want mine in camo please
Camo 2019 Outback even better
Why not just buy an outback?

Lmao we just made this $2000 yak into a $4000 yak
$8000 later....... Sponge Bob voice
Add way too much weight on the Yak. Defeat the purpose of Hobie design.

you got to much money
