excellent idea using a drill battery to run your fish finder I have never thought of that. I've always used a 12 volt deer feeder battery and those wont usually last me more than 3 or 4 months. I will look into using a drill battery instead.
MattMan22 thanks for watching man to be honest I try to save money and started looking at my drill in the garage and thought man that will work been using same 2 battery’s for 3 years lol
@@HooKSetzWithRyan Hi, just saw your idea with the drill battery ... but my drill bats are all running at 18V ... did you build in a DC/DC Cancher to adjust the Voltage. How long does the bat last.
Kind of regret not getting the compass I picked the passport instead mainly due lugging around on my smaller pickup truck. And it's nice and light but missing some of the features the compass has like the rudder release and activation, better cup holders and a little more storage. Maybe next year I will upgrade to Compass or Outback Love the stickers on your yak too Tight lines
Luca Brazzi-Fishing thanks for watching I really like my compass I’ve had it for a while now still love it haven’t been in a passport yet but they are wide and stable I’ve heard tight lines 😀🙏🏻🎣
Same here, bought the 10.5 passport last year as my first kayak, its been a great kayak, but now I'm about to pull the trigger on an upgrade. I was thinking a compass with some upgrades would fit my rather minimalist style fishing perfect while still keeping the weight down for easy transport
Thank you for your video.. when you insert your drive and it locks in, and u try to wiggle it does it play a little or its snug with no movement? It looks like I have little small gap when the drive sets on the kayak, I haven’t tested out on the water yet so I am just wondering. Thanks!
positivedelaware thanks for watching I actually use for the bottom of the cup holder for sound a sea deck material and on the sides to make it look uniform I use a automotive decal wrap to make it look like it was made that way
Panfish on the hobie compass the mounting area is underneath the hull they actually added it to the hull with a scrape plate to protect it. You just run your wires through the scupper underneath the seat and bolt it in most new fishing kayaks have this it keeps from using arm mounts on the side .
Ryan-Kayak- Fishing Hi Ryan, when you installed your transducer in the plate below and ran the cable back up where did you drilled a hole to go back inside the kayak. In the fish finder install video for the compass Howie, from hobie, drilled a 1 inch hole next to the scupper hole where the transducer cable was pulled up. Someone commented that the spot he drilled was too soft. Thanks
Carlos Fung I drilled the same spot howie drilled I don’t think it’s soft just want to center it where the spot is haven’t had no problems the plastic is pretty solid hope this helps
Ryan-Kayak- Fishing thanks the reply Ryan, one other question if I may. The bracket for mounting the transducer at the bottom of the kayak is designed for a Lowrance transducer, did you created a couple of strips to mount it to Garmin transducer. If so, what material did you used for your strip, I have seen videos where people used aluminum bars and some used hard plastic.... trying to figure which will last longer in saltwater over time. Thanks again.
Carlos Fung yes my garmin would not fit right so I used 2 small flat brackets like 2 inches long to mount to the existing lowrance mount. Just used small bits & bolts to mount it got the brackets at Lowe’s home improvement store in the hardware area hope they s helps 👍😎
Kurt Huang thanks for watching it a lil hard to explain but I took some plastic and cut it and made my own brackets to bolt on to the existing lowrance Setup not to hard just need some tools and small bolts and plastic hope this helps
hich101 thanks for stopping by not much difference other than colors and a sail mount at the front area and a lot of people use it as a camera mount great new colors though
All you need now is an Expandacraft 12 foot outrigger on that thing to make sure you never dump thousands of dollars worth of gear in the drink. Check out the number of youtube videos with that set up, with and without motors. Just search Expandacraft outrigger on a Hobie and you'll be amazed.
Nice walk thru. Like the simple setup. The drill battery idea is golden! Great thinking.
Thanks for watching

Anthony Moraitis thanks for watching yeah they are great yaks
That drill battery is a killer idea!
Very nice set up 😁

That’s a really nice rig!
Yank UR Crank thanks man 👍😎
Nice touches to detail! Is this compass heavy to load unload in bed or truck?
Very light kayak. Easy to car top or put in pickup.
Nice video! I have the same yak .
Chris Chris thanks for watching the compass is a awesome fishing kayak
Where did you get those stickers around the hobie logo?
Thanks for watching. It sounds corny but i used a vehicle small racing stripe kit. Very cheap mod that makes your hobie look awesome.
Nice set up. How long is the yakattack sticker.
Thanks for watching. I believe it is 16 inches

Nice yak! Did u think to put the bigger square hatch in front of the seat? Did u get any hull sinking over time at all?
Thanks for watching. The compass always stayed dry. I never added the square hatch
I mean like, slight indenting and change of the hull shape from regular use. But I think it happens more to those who add the rectangle hatch
@@hanoitripper1809 I’m not sure cause I just kept the circle hatch in the center
what kind of adopter you use to mount Garmin to the track? thanks

What kind of connector do you need to use a drill battery like that?
Gx2 Fishing I actually had a old flashlight part of the drill set and took it apart and took the connector out of it solid connection
Good job buddy
