The crazy thing is that people can have 2 evos in ranked even in challenger when the level cap is 12. It’s so unfair when I face someone with 2 evos and I have none.
Plus if it’s like this in challenger then it wouldn’t be surprising to see this in grand challenges/other challenges where the cap is lv11 and yet you can use 2 evos.
Evolutions being introduced completely killed the game for 90% of my clan. Before the update we were always at max capacity, not always with the best player but a good few of us were Ultimate Champs. What felt like Literally overnight the game completely died.

i left it 2 years ago, about 2.5, (13 was still max) and holy shit they're just making the game easier and easier for whales. before you could compete as f2p HARD. I guess the gap was too small because i came back to see them just steadily widening that gap making it harder for a f2p or just battle pass buyer to compete.
I wish I had done the same. I considered leaving when Level 14 was announced, but the subsequent Slash Royale event convinced me to stay. I quit for good when Level 15 was announced and haven't looked back
I personally just hate, the way they have added evolutions. Whith cycles, it makes fast cycle decks just broken by principle. I would have loved to see it done in a way, where you have a certain amount of evolutions per game, but you can choose to evolve a card at any point with the press of a new button. It would also mean, the evolution slot isn't necessary, and one could evolve any card that has an evolution. I feel like that would make evolutions have more skill attached.
I remember when hog mountain was the highest arena and there were only two legendaries, and those legendaries weren't broken, they were just pretty good cards, I miss that. These days there are like thirty legendaries, an additional rarity above that which you can't get until like arena 15 or sixteen BUT CAN BE BOUGHT FOR TEN DOLLARS AS SOON AS ARENA 10, and you've got all these evolutions that you can buy to unlock instantly, but it takes several months to unlock just one if you're free to play. It's at a point where the people that are free to play just straight up aren't playing the same game as pay to win players, it will take you years to get to the same point somebody with a credit card can get to in five minutes, they aren't even trying to make it fair anymore

this was a really good takeaway from how the game has shifted. i quit the game before they announced lvl15 and i always just said that it was because the vibes were off, but this is just it. the game has gotten more rng and less strategy, and they now have an audience who ONLY wants the new "craziest" thing, and if they dont deliver then the fickle crowd will leave. im kinda rambling but just wanted to say, i agree with you 100%
the problem is way more complicated, if there's no evoluition, what does the game need to do? 1: game modes that is happening rn in the ss, they're really hard to make a mode simple, fun and enjoyable 2: more cards that will inflate the cards volume and make some card become unuseable ex: barbhut,... 3: card's unique ability that is champions and evolution for champions it goes the same with the 2nd part and champions are harder to obtain so more champions (over 10 of them) will be too abuseive since upgrading just one will be even harder for evolution it is great but it makes the game more cyclely, more no brain my thought: more evolution but somehow change the way we get it ( by cycle) and instead pay more elixir to use the card, also nerf the evo so they can be useable in that elixir range ( method to use the evo: swipe the card up to change)
All I know is I enjoyed progressing in the game until the monk Phoenix incident, and then killing alt accounts by various updates. I didn't play much longer after that

I quit a long time ago, by the time I stopped playing hog mountain was the final arena and I remember they had just added log and sparky, so I'd been out of the loop for a while. When I got back into the game a couple months ago I was just sitting there being like "What the fuck happened?" I cannot describe to you how hopelessly disgusted I was when I spent more than a week getting two wins a day because they cap season tokens, so I could get the knight evolution, and when I bought it I was met with "1/6" and now the same evolution shard was twice as expensive, you just aren't supposed to have evolutions that you didn't spend real money on
Nah just implement the rocket from master royale infinity. It spawns three goblins with each having 5000 deathdamage. Whoever uses the rocket evoution first wins. Sounds totally balanced.
I was ONE game away from clash fest, but nope. Their matchmacking is cruel, if you lose just one game against any card, it WILL match you up with it the next round. I lost to a furnace giant skele deck, next TWO ROUNDS, i get matched with furnace giant skele. Furnace usage rates are at like 0.1%, yet i managed to match against it? Same thing with MK, hog, firecracker, its hella annoying. I dont want to change my deck just because one card counters it. Even worse, im f2p, meaning i cant just switch cards, let alone decks.

Double Evolutions at king level 15 hurts the ranked champion battles the most. You'll have the same card level at lower ranks but you'll be at an immediate disadvantage if you have only 1 evolution and can ONLY have ONE evolution in your deck Edit: This is apparent in challenges too.
Bear with me here, this will be a bit of a long one, but this is the experience of someone who played cr since day 1, farmed a almost max e wiz on the very first 12 win challenge, 20 win badge etc. I left the game about 2.5 years ago (lvl 13 was max card lv at the time) with about 100 bucks invested throughout the 5 years i played. I had a lot of max decks and had done a lot of grinding, clan wars and gcs for my cards, and I was able to hang with the big boys ladder wise. This was all context for the following, I came back a month ago out of slight boredom and a desire to feel some nostalgia in relation to a game I once loved, and hopped on to find 2 new levels, 15 being absolute cancer, because the rate at which you can lvl up cards to 15 depends heavily on how many lvl 14s you have but ok lets get past that. I climbed up to 8k with ease with a full 14 deck and thats where i started to hit the paywall. I noticed a lot of shitters with maxed ebarbs and maxed mirror, but nothing out of the ordinary, those guys have existed throughout the history of cr. Back when i played leagues and trophy road was merged, so when checking some profiles this most recent push, I would notice a lot of the swipers have like 8000-8500 trophies but then their leagues pb is master 1 or league 4, whereas a 10% above avg player with a full lv14 decently put together, ok deck with 0 evos can definitely hit league 8(even 9) with some practice. So this is why you guys got 2 evos. 2 birds are killed with one stone. All of these shameless whales with 8500 trophies peaking in league 5 at the end of season can now swipe some more, earn supercell more money whilst being able to artificially inflate their league pbs because now they can start running double evos even in any league, if they are king tower 15. Thats all there really is to it, double evos in anything under leagues 9 and 10 is absolutely disgusting, and sc knows it but too bad $$$
Level 15 and double evolution ruin the game for me too. It is impossible for anyone to grind and catch up. I just want to enjoy a diverse strategy game and try out a new deck once in a while or stick to a deck I'm comfortable. I don't even feel like I'm playing the game for the sake of enjoying it, I'm playing the game so I won't regret missing out + grinding resources. I haven't been enjoying the game for the last 2 months
Clan wars could be so freaking cool. Like why aren't we fighting against a giant golem as a team, or maybe like a grand lava hound that can only be attacked by air cards, or just something where the clan battles together.

I think it's rly important to specify that they're not 'doing it for money' they're doing it for short term money specifically. 2021-22, masteries and champions, splitting ladder etc were all good changes, brought players back after the tragic 2020 we had, and I was happy during that time, even w e giant mirror meta. If they continued like this, the game's longevity would be hugely increased. Clash of clans does exactly that, it's a business model that prioritises longevity, and still good money per season but over a long period of time. Every change in 2023 has been the opposite. Money grabs, u might call them. They outrage the community, heavily nerfing progression even for the spenders who bought the pass before diamond was added. But also adding broken bullshit concepts they know will be unhealthy for the game and again will cause outrage, just because they know they'll be bought for an advantage. This makes them huge money in the short term, just as releasing a new busted evo every season does, but kills the game. The playerbase will not endure it they'll get fed up and quit. And this is why it is not 'for money' they want to kill the game for whatever reason and are thus getting the last revenue they can get from it. So i just think it's important to distinguish between doing something for money and doing something for short term gain. They'd make far more off the game overall if it lasted another 4 yrs minimum, to the current age of coc, but they want to do something else instead. Put the energy u use on cr into something else. Doing something for money is what every business does and it's the goal behind adding masteries and adding lvl 15, but one of them is far better for the game's longevity and long term profit.
Idk if anyone will read this, but this has been my CR experience ever since I came back to the game: -I came back around 6 months ago; level 11 tower, most cards level 10 or 11. I was sitting at around 4.5k trophies and facing opponents of a similar level -Fast forward to now, Im level 13, haven't spent a dime on the game, and most of my cards are now level 11 or 12 (one or two level 13s). Im sitting at 6k trophies now and usually face level 14 opponents with level 14 cards -Playing this game is like slamming my head into a wall because strategy doesnt really matter. If you're using a level 11 card, level 14 anything is going to win. Your opponent can make stupid plays and I cant punish because my cards are too low level. -I cant drop below 6k trophies (for some reason?) and I cant climb up because Im against thousands of dumb level 14 people who spent money on the game but refuse to strategize. Anytime I get one win, I get kicked back down to 6k Seriously, if anyone reads this and has any tips, lemme know. Right now I play mainly play miner poison with normal mortar (I dont have the evo; was gonna get it for the Valentines thing, but I also dont have Evo Knight. Evo archers are the only evo I have.) I know I need to just focus on maxxing a deck or two, but it kinda feels pointless at this point, lol
You can't go below any arena now. If u get to 6000, thats your minimum. Ive been stuck at 7000 for a month now. Getting back to the other point: try to level only one deck at a time, but do it with the prospect of using some of the cards in other decks in the future. You could play Ranked mode every month to both improve and get some resources. I suggest you use your gems in Challenges, if u get good, u will get a lot of resources over time. Lastly, if u have the money, you could buy 1 or 2 passes. The amount of Exp u get from leveling up cards could boost you a lot. It also means you can open more chests and more tries in Challenges. Also, a tip I wish I knew years ago: don't donate in your clan. U lose a lot of resources donating cards, it's not worth it, you will need those cards at some point.
I feel you man. I quit the game a year ago after but I still believe my advice can be valuable for you as I was every season a top 1000 world finisher. 1: stick to one deck and max it out, Make sure it’s a deck which is fun for you with good cards and can take good advantage of evolutions cycle is my recommendation but it’s up to your preference. 2: learn the shit out of it, be familiar with every interaction and aware of our comes and most importantly how to defend, in the low arenas most people get stuck because they are too focused on offense offense and only offense and get counter pushed and lose, and so to prevent that play passive try recognizing when your opponent opened himself for an attack or is low on Elixer or has no counters in cycle and punish but do not over commit or else he will counter push you and your efforts are rendered useless, also when attempting to defend you have to be able to get out of the sticky situations where your at an Elixer disadvantage and your opponent is pushing by separating his attack and dealing with them calmly. 3: and probably the most crucial, when picking your deck make sure you have in it some good cards for defense and counter the most annoying and broken card, so for example I was an x bow player and I had Tesla to counter all the tanks roaming top ladder and fire ball log to deal with the back of the push as well as utilization of cycle cards to distract, I saw that you play miner poison and if you do it’s great although I would not go for a mortar variant with all the long long long ranged evolutions and champions running around and would personally switch it to a inferno tower or cannon or something you have easy time defending with and adding another win con to your deck, wall breakers or ballon or something like that. 4: and the last tip I can give you and this is optional but very good for extending and deepening your understanding and familiarity with the game I would recommend watching pro players and trip ladder such as Morten Mohamed light Ian77 ryley and my personal favorites b-rad and eragon. That’s really all the advice i could give you if you want to improve that’s what worked for me and I hope you’ll bet better also, although my best tip for you and anybody seeing this comment is to leave the game as I did, it’s probably not gonna get better if we keep playing it as that signals supercell that we are enjoying this atrocity of a so called strategy game, champions were the start of the end and evolutions will mark the death of clash royale if we won’t do anything. So I will say this and hope you listen to me if you made it this far in my essentially essay that for the game to get better we need to show supercell that it won’t stand any more and see it her won’t change or the game will die and than and only than they will actually listen to us, Actions speak much much louder than words. Well that’s my rant hope any one who read this agrees with me and either take action or gain a better grasp of the game and will get better, if you have any questions feel free to reply to this message and I will reply back when I’ll see it ☺️
the way they add new stuff made me stop buying things in CR because i realized everything i bought will be worthless with the next money hungry update the way they integrated balance updates and new maps including evolutions into the game made me quit CR because it doesn't have much to do with strategy anymore - i played clash almost daily since 2016
I honestly think that when your game gets to a point where if you dont spend money its not fun, you need to change something quick or else players are going to start dropping like flies
I just quitted clash royal too after 3 years of playing it, i've always been a f2p player and was still enjoying the game until now ... the game is just dead imo, they ruined it. Clash mini is the only supercell game i still play (f2p too) and still enjoy. I also love the content of Spoob on this game and would love to see you both making videos on it, even on other games. It's really just surprising to see how far they've supercell has gone downhill so quickly Just a year or two ago I remember tweaking my deck to perfection thinking about how cards could interact to form new strategies, but now I throw in the towel as soon as I see enough of the number 15 or the color purple because I know that those are signs that I'm about to be screwed over. Hell, I've even dipped into meta decks a few times and I am a proud GIANT SKELETON PLAYER we do not fw cheap strategies or the meta. (side note: I used to play brawl stars a few years ago and was pretty good at it but upon revisiting it they have made it so hard to get new brawlers and some can instakill/stunlock you in a moment's notice. Just like clash interactions have become unclear. Supercell used to be the shining star among mobile game companies but it's falling into the same pit with not just clash but their other games. Also ty for reading my mini-essay lol.)
Brawl stars is actually much better for ftp players now than it was a few years ago. The main problem is getting enough gold to upgrade all your brawlers
2 challenge mode ideas 1.Evolution Overload You can only use evolution cards and they are the Evo form everytime 2. A gamemodes where evolutions are treated like champions where you pay extra once they're deployed to evolve them and you can't play another copy of that card until it dies
Another Problem with CR rn. I still play but the progression got stripped away especially since Elite Wild Cards are NOT in shop anymore which makes the fact true that CR Devs at Supercell just want your money.
The last best update was when they add the phoenix and the monk and path of legends after that I remember clash royal was my favorite and best game I was playing and just like that now CR is dead to me I can't play it anymore simply they killed my game for some of money it's so sadly 💔😔
I've been f2p ever since 2016. Now ive taken breaks here and there for months up to a year and coming back to the game 2 months ago. It feels almost impossible to progress withiut having to spend any money.
I used to play years ago, tried to come back and it's just rediculous trying to come back without paying to win. You used to be able to actually succeed pretty ok without paying, but it was just impossible without buying more champions, trying to buy cards with money to keep up. I gave up on it because of that.
I agree with everything you said but also level 15 and how everyone just forgot about it. It’s been a few months since card evolutions and I’m not even close to getting one. And i’m still so far away from king tower 15. This game needs an entire new team of developers. They keep messing it up again and again.
I have been playing clash royal since late 2016 and started playing COC again 2 weeks ago (TH 12) and TBH I think it’s time to switch bc COC devs actually cares about the community not as much as they care about the money but way better Than CR😪

Since the evolutions came out I’ve been saving shards and was happy to use them on the wall breakers and got my free knight and I can’t even use it for not being level 15, I can’t get past grand champion for ppl having a higher level and extra evolution and I decided to get the pass even tho I didn’t want to to level up to 15 and I didn’t even get close I still need 3 more levels which would 150000 xp 😐
Put event stuff in clan wars to spice it up, make an og cr season with all old interactions and the level cap being lvl 13. Skillful old season gameplay would be fire content.
I’ve literally only been playing 2v2 for the last 5-6 months. Good, chaotic fun, cards are capped at lvl 11 so you don’t need to bother levelling them, meaning you’re able to save more gold (I have almost 900,000 right now, the most I’ve ever had at once) And losing doesn’t suck as much because there’s no progression anyway. And you still earn chests, season coins and crowns. BUT BEST OF ALL, evolutions aren’t as OP, because there is twice the cards and twice the elixir to counter them.
Before evolutions I was in an extremely active clan. Has been run by the same dude for like 5 years, but I joined in the last few months before evos were introduced. The clan really had a family feel, they had their own discord where people would talk every day and be in voice channels just playing other games together. War was doing really great, most people were Ultimate Champs. And literally a week or so after the update dropped activity crashed. The leader then wrote a really, really long message in the discord thanking the members for the time together, but it just isn't fun anymore and most really active and core people already left/are inactive so he decided to close the clan. Of course it's not just because of Evolutions, but this update was the straw that broke the camels back. Just awful decisions by Supercell for years destroyed this community.
At this point it’s like impossible to climb ladder because so many people bought champions at low levels or spent money on the evolution in area 13 or 14 and it gets frustrating
I think if they revert the game to before the champions were released they'd make a shit ton of more money with millons of people coming back to the game
I think evolutions should only be available in a completely new game mode, where you know skill isnt required and its just mayhem, heck even do it so you can have 8 evolutions in your deck, but dont make the whole game p2w and not strategic
As a F2P this is exactly the reason why I don't push trophies anymore, then comes a point on path of legends when you face over levelled players and that's when I stop playing (every season)
What’s fucked for me is that my kind level turned to level 14 RIGHT after the new update which added the separation between king tower and crown towers, which means I’m stuck with my old level 13 crown towers, and you can’t even find the cards to upgrade them anywhere
i managed to get to arena 23 and league 9 last season while being lvl 14 with lvl 14 cards but now i don’t even want to try playing the game cause i feel like i could not even compete with lvl 15 players having 1 more evolution than me. i literally can’t play the game.
Im a casual that deletes the game and pops back in every now and then whenever im bored ...i think this is the point where i stop redownloading the game from now on since its heavily onesided to the broken PTW cards
Last season i got 1st time grand Champion as f2p using lumberloon freeze without any evolution but this season it seems impossible playing against two evolutions and constantly spamming at back

The thing is even on the non trophy ladder, where theres level caps, even when you have the level cap below level 15 people still have their second evo and its just trash😊
The changes that they are making is taking players away from ranked. I consider myself lucky to have 1 maxed deck to play on ranked with 2 evolutions but I understand that not everyone is fortunate. And with the new systems its going to be hard for players to test with decks and enjoy ranked modes.
not gonna lie this happens to a lot of games. The creators of the game build up the game and everyone enjoys it, then they start adding the pay to win aspect and the game becomes unfun
The extra thing about the double evolution at lvl 15 that really makes it salt in the wound, upgrading cards to level 15 gives you 50,000 xp, which makes it super easy to level up

Now we are back to where we used to be, what would have been 8 years for a max account back when legendaries felt like legendaries. I honestly do like the mixed progression because it is really what supercell was going for, I do like how it reduces smurfing by forcing you to have progress but I just wish there was a side mode to grind every reward. Like an ltm that gave you lets say 250 or so common (scaled to rarity obv) wild cards so you could actually grind the game. This would also be an awesome and fun way to grind evolutions while still making it take time. I do like the time based progression because it allows you to build up your skill against people who have advantages against you but I feel like theres just no way to actually get that advantage (without paying) without waiting so long. I do love all this new stuff because it gives us new things to work towards while not just giving it to us, so we can become stronger without them and learn to be good at the game. But if they want to lock progress behind multiple evo's, I really dont want to wait 4-5 months to get one and have that be just... one card... out of ones they release every month that could make or break the meta. Id rather something more flexible. This is nice and im hoping they do more because I truly think this is what is best for the game, but they have to make it accessible. I really think multiple evolutions brings a really cool dynamic into the game, but I wish they had more downside, like how supers costed more elixir. That way, matches would become more dynamic and less match up dependent as you could capitalize on big moments but also have a reason to not use those cards. I think more evos could lead to more deck diversity, because you can run stuff like cycle to get them faster or run other cards to support them and do a lot more with them and not be as weak to spells, etc. Also offsetting cycles makes it so sometimes you have one or the other or both, and you can hold on to one to play both and be punished by one in return. I think its super cool how dynamic this is making the game instead of one side slowly getting an advantage or one player losing because of a minor slip up. In the end I do realize they are probably just doing it for money, but I really think it could work out for everyone in the end as long as we all get our piece of the cake. Sadly, its impossible right now since you have to wait 5x as long to get an evo than it takes them to release a new one that just outclasses the rest, but if they choose to make them balanced I can see this being a lot of fun. Wonder if theyre ever just gonna launch a clash royale 2 so we can have a more... old experience? I hope this goes well, it seems very promising

I knew that leaving the game 2 years ago was a RIGHT idea
i left it 2 years ago, about 2.5, (13 was still max) and holy shit they're just making the game easier and easier for whales. before you could compete as f2p HARD. I guess the gap was too small because i came back to see them just steadily widening that gap making it harder for a f2p or just battle pass buyer to compete.

I wish I had done the same. I considered leaving when Level 14 was announced, but the subsequent Slash Royale event convinced me to stay. I quit for good when Level 15 was announced and haven't looked back
I personally just hate, the way they have added evolutions. Whith cycles, it makes fast cycle decks just broken by principle. I would have loved to see it done in a way, where you have a certain amount of evolutions per game, but you can choose to evolve a card at any point with the press of a new button. It would also mean, the evolution slot isn't necessary, and one could evolve any card that has an evolution. I feel like that would make evolutions have more skill attached.
like a dark elixir cost. You can only have 2 DE at max and it costs 1 to evolve but it takes like a full minute to get 1 DE

I remember when hog mountain was the highest arena and there were only two legendaries, and those legendaries weren't broken, they were just pretty good cards, I miss that. These days there are like thirty legendaries, an additional rarity above that which you can't get until like arena 15 or sixteen BUT CAN BE BOUGHT FOR TEN DOLLARS AS SOON AS ARENA 10, and you've got all these evolutions that you can buy to unlock instantly, but it takes several months to unlock just one if you're free to play.
It's at a point where the people that are free to play just straight up aren't playing the same game as pay to win players, it will take you years to get to the same point somebody with a credit card can get to in five minutes, they aren't even trying to make it fair anymore
The legendaries were extremely broken only balance was that it took 20K to max one of them and clash royale was way to small to make it profitable.

this was a really good takeaway from how the game has shifted. i quit the game before they announced lvl15 and i always just said that it was because the vibes were off, but this is just it. the game has gotten more rng and less strategy, and they now have an audience who ONLY wants the new "craziest" thing, and if they dont deliver then the fickle crowd will leave.

the problem is way more complicated, if there's no evoluition, what does the game need to do?
1: game modes
that is happening rn in the ss, they're really hard to make a mode simple, fun and enjoyable
2: more cards

3: card's unique ability
that is champions and evolution
for champions it goes the same with the 2nd part and champions are harder to obtain so more champions (over 10 of them) will be too abuseive since upgrading just one will be even harder
for evolution it is great but it makes the game more cyclely, more no brain
my thought:
more evolution but somehow change the way we get it ( by cycle) and instead pay more elixir to use the card, also nerf the evo so they can be useable in that elixir range ( method to use the evo: swipe the card up to change)
this will make some evo rn too op so we need a huge rework 4 them like firecracker and bomber
All I know is I enjoyed progressing in the game until the monk Phoenix incident, and then killing alt accounts by various updates. I didn't play much longer after that

I quit a long time ago, by the time I stopped playing hog mountain was the final arena and I remember they had just added log and sparky, so I'd been out of the loop for a while. When I got back into the game a couple months ago I was just sitting there being like "What the fuck happened?"
I cannot describe to you how hopelessly disgusted I was when I spent more than a week getting two wins a day because they cap season tokens, so I could get the knight evolution, and when I bought it I was met with "1/6" and now the same evolution shard was twice as expensive, you just aren't supposed to have evolutions that you didn't spend real money on

I was ONE game away from clash fest, but nope. Their matchmacking is cruel, if you lose just one game against any card, it WILL match you up with it the next round. I lost to a furnace giant skele deck, next TWO ROUNDS, i get matched with furnace giant skele. Furnace usage rates are at like 0.1%, yet i managed to match against it? Same thing with MK, hog, firecracker, its hella annoying. I dont want to change my deck just because one card counters it. Even worse, im f2p, meaning i cant just switch cards, let alone decks.

Double Evolutions at king level 15 hurts the ranked champion battles the most. You'll have the same card level at lower ranks but you'll be at an immediate disadvantage if you have only 1 evolution and can ONLY have ONE evolution in your deck

Bear with me here, this will be a bit of a long one, but this is the experience of someone who played cr since day 1, farmed a almost max e wiz on the very first 12 win challenge, 20 win badge etc. I left the game about 2.5 years ago (lvl 13 was max card lv at the time) with about 100 bucks invested throughout the 5 years i played. I had a lot of max decks and had done a lot of grinding, clan wars and gcs for my cards, and I was able to hang with the big boys ladder wise. This was all context for the following, I came back a month ago out of slight boredom and a desire to feel some nostalgia in relation to a game I once loved, and hopped on to find 2 new levels, 15 being absolute cancer, because the rate at which you can lvl up cards to 15 depends heavily on how many lvl 14s you have but ok lets get past that. I climbed up to 8k with ease with a full 14 deck and thats where i started to hit the paywall. I noticed a lot of shitters with maxed ebarbs and maxed mirror, but nothing out of the ordinary, those guys have existed throughout the history of cr. Back when i played leagues and trophy road was merged, so when checking some profiles this most recent push, I would notice a lot of the swipers have like 8000-8500 trophies but then their leagues pb is master 1 or league 4, whereas a 10% above avg player with a full lv14 decently put together, ok deck with 0 evos can definitely hit league 8(even 9) with some practice. So this is why you guys got 2 evos. 2 birds are killed with one stone. All of these shameless whales with 8500 trophies peaking in league 5 at the end of season can now swipe some more, earn supercell more money whilst being able to artificially inflate their league pbs because now they can start running double evos even in any league, if they are king tower 15. Thats all there really is to it, double evos in anything under leagues 9 and 10 is absolutely disgusting, and sc knows it but too bad $$$

Level 15 and double evolution ruin the game for me too. It is impossible for anyone to grind and catch up. I just want to enjoy a diverse strategy game and try out a new deck once in a while or stick to a deck I'm comfortable. I don't even feel like I'm playing the game for the sake of enjoying it, I'm playing the game so I won't regret missing out + grinding resources. I haven't been enjoying the game for the last 2 months
Locking 2 evos behind a level 15 is up there in the list of dumbest decisions they have made. As if evos weren't hard enough to obtain.
Clan wars could be so freaking cool. Like why aren't we fighting against a giant golem as a team, or maybe like a grand lava hound that can only be attacked by air cards, or just something where the clan battles together.

I think it's rly important to specify that they're not 'doing it for money' they're doing it for short term money specifically. 2021-22, masteries and champions, splitting ladder etc were all good changes, brought players back after the tragic 2020 we had, and I was happy during that time, even w e giant mirror meta. If they continued like this, the game's longevity would be hugely increased. Clash of clans does exactly that, it's a business model that prioritises longevity, and still good money per season but over a long period of time. Every change in 2023 has been the opposite. Money grabs, u might call them. They outrage the community, heavily nerfing progression even for the spenders who bought the pass before diamond was added. But also adding broken bullshit concepts they know will be unhealthy for the game and again will cause outrage, just because they know they'll be bought for an advantage. This makes them huge money in the short term, just as releasing a new busted evo every season does, but kills the game. The playerbase will not endure it they'll get fed up and quit. And this is why it is not 'for money' they want to kill the game for whatever reason and are thus getting the last revenue they can get from it.
So i just think it's important to distinguish between doing something for money and doing something for short term gain. They'd make far more off the game overall if it lasted another 4 yrs minimum, to the current age of coc, but they want to do something else instead. Put the energy u use on cr into something else.
Doing something for money is what every business does and it's the goal behind adding masteries and adding lvl 15, but one of them is far better for the game's longevity and long term profit.
Idk if anyone will read this, but this has been my CR experience ever since I came back to the game:
-I came back around 6 months ago; level 11 tower, most cards level 10 or 11. I was sitting at around 4.5k trophies and facing opponents of a similar level
-Fast forward to now, Im level 13, haven't spent a dime on the game, and most of my cards are now level 11 or 12 (one or two level 13s). Im sitting at 6k trophies now and usually face level 14 opponents with level 14 cards
-Playing this game is like slamming my head into a wall because strategy doesnt really matter. If you're using a level 11 card, level 14 anything is going to win. Your opponent can make stupid plays and I cant punish because my cards are too low level.
-I cant drop below 6k trophies (for some reason?) and I cant climb up because Im against thousands of dumb level 14 people who spent money on the game but refuse to strategize. Anytime I get one win, I get kicked back down to 6k
Seriously, if anyone reads this and has any tips, lemme know. Right now I play mainly play miner poison with normal mortar (I dont have the evo; was gonna get it for the Valentines thing, but I also dont have Evo Knight. Evo archers are the only evo I have.) I know I need to just focus on maxxing a deck or two, but it kinda feels pointless at this point, lol
You can't go below any arena now. If u get to 6000, thats your minimum. Ive been stuck at 7000 for a month now.
Getting back to the other point: try to level only one deck at a time, but do it with the prospect of using some of the cards in other decks in the future. You could play Ranked mode every month to both improve and get some resources. I suggest you use your gems in Challenges, if u get good, u will get a lot of resources over time. Lastly, if u have the money, you could buy 1 or 2 passes. The amount of Exp u get from leveling up cards could boost you a lot. It also means you can open more chests and more tries in Challenges. Also, a tip I wish I knew years ago: don't donate in your clan. U lose a lot of resources donating cards, it's not worth it, you will need those cards at some point.

I quit the game a year ago after but I still believe my advice can be valuable for you as I was every season a top 1000 world finisher.
1: stick to one deck and max it out,
Make sure it’s a deck which is fun for you with good cards and can take good advantage of evolutions cycle is my recommendation but it’s up to your preference.
2: learn the shit out of it, be familiar with every interaction and aware of our comes and most importantly how to defend, in the low arenas most people get stuck because they are too focused on offense offense and only offense and get counter pushed and lose, and so to prevent that play passive try recognizing when your opponent opened himself for an attack or is low on Elixer or has no counters in cycle and punish but do not over commit or else he will counter push you and your efforts are rendered useless, also when attempting to defend you have to be able to get out of the sticky situations where your at an Elixer disadvantage and your opponent is pushing by separating his attack and dealing with them calmly.
3: and probably the most crucial, when picking your deck make sure you have in it some good cards for defense and counter the most annoying and broken card, so for example I was an x bow player and I had Tesla to counter all the tanks roaming top ladder and fire ball log to deal with the back of the push as well as utilization of cycle cards to distract,
I saw that you play miner poison and if you do it’s great although I would not go for a mortar variant with all the long long long ranged evolutions and champions running around and would personally switch it to a inferno tower or cannon or something you have easy time defending with and adding another win con to your deck, wall breakers or ballon or something like that.
4: and the last tip I can give you and this is optional but very good for extending and deepening your understanding and familiarity with the game I would recommend watching pro players and trip ladder such as Morten Mohamed light Ian77 ryley and my personal favorites b-rad and eragon.
That’s really all the advice i could give you if you want to improve that’s what worked for me and I hope you’ll bet better also, although my best tip for you and anybody seeing this comment is to leave the game as I did, it’s probably not gonna get better if we keep playing it as that signals supercell that we are enjoying this atrocity of a so called strategy game, champions were the start of the end and evolutions will mark the death of clash royale if we won’t do anything.
So I will say this and hope you listen to me if you made it this far in my essentially essay that for the game to get better we need to show supercell that it won’t stand any more and see it her won’t change or the game will die and than and only than they will actually listen to us,
Actions speak much much louder than words.

Just a year or two ago I remember tweaking my deck to perfection thinking about how cards could interact to form new strategies, but now I throw in the towel as soon as I see enough of the number 15 or the color purple because I know that those are signs that I'm about to be screwed over.
Hell, I've even dipped into meta decks a few times and I am a proud GIANT SKELETON PLAYER we do not fw cheap strategies or the meta.
(side note: I used to play brawl stars a few years ago and was pretty good at it but upon revisiting it they have made it so hard to get new brawlers and some can instakill/stunlock you in a moment's notice. Just like clash interactions have become unclear. Supercell used to be the shining star among mobile game companies but it's falling into the same pit with not just clash but their other games. 1.Evolution Overload
You can only use evolution cards and they are the Evo form everytime
2. A gamemodes where evolutions are treated like champions where you pay extra once they're deployed to evolve them and you can't play another copy of that card until it dies

I still play but the progression got stripped away especially since Elite Wild Cards are NOT in shop anymore which makes the fact true that CR Devs at Supercell just want your money.
The last best update was when they add the phoenix and the monk and path of legends after that I remember clash royal was my favorite and best game I was playing and just like that now CR is dead to me I can't play it anymore simply they killed my game for some of money it's so sadly 💔😔
I've been f2p ever since 2016. Now ive taken breaks here and there for months up to a year and coming back to the game 2 months ago. It feels almost impossible to progress withiut having to spend any money.
I remember when they released the battle ram, I was so hyped for such a simple card, same with stuff like the dart goblin, bandit and even log.

I started playing clash royale in 2016 daily and last month I uninstalled it because of evolutions
I used to play years ago, tried to come back and it's just rediculous trying to come back without paying to win. You used to be able to actually succeed pretty ok without paying, but it was just impossible without buying more champions, trying to buy cards with money to keep up. I gave up on it because of that.
I agree with everything you said but also level 15 and how everyone just forgot about it. It’s been a few months since card evolutions and I’m not even close to getting one. And i’m still so far away from king tower 15. This game needs an entire new team of developers. They keep messing it up again and again.
The biggest problem is not supercell, it's Tencent. I've seen Tencent do a lot of bad things to other games as well...
I have been playing clash royal since late 2016 and started playing COC again 2 weeks ago (TH 12) and TBH I think it’s time to switch bc COC devs actually cares about the community not as much as they care about the money but way better Than CR😪

I am level 15 and I still have tons of level 14 cards, I dont even have a maxed deck yet and I keep facing players that clearly spent money and have every card maxed in deck.

Since the evolutions came out I’ve been saving shards and was happy to use them on the wall breakers and got my free knight and I can’t even use it for not being level 15, I can’t get past grand champion for ppl having a higher level and extra evolution and I decided to get the pass even tho I didn’t want to to level up to 15 and I didn’t even get close I still need 3 more levels which would 150000 xp 😐
Put event stuff in clan wars to spice it up, make an og cr season with all old interactions and the level cap being lvl 13. Skillful old season gameplay would be fire content.

This game was peak when max level was 13
I’ve literally only been playing 2v2 for the last 5-6 months. Good, chaotic fun, cards are capped at lvl 11 so you don’t need to bother levelling them, meaning you’re able to save more gold (I have almost 900,000 right now, the most I’ve ever had at once) And losing doesn’t suck as much because there’s no progression anyway. And you still earn chests, season coins and crowns.
BUT BEST OF ALL, evolutions aren’t as OP, because there is twice the cards and twice the elixir to counter them.
I want the old clash royale
The worst part about double evolutions is that in path of legends, even when levels are capped below lvl 15 tower and cards, you can still use 2 evos
Before evolutions I was in an extremely active clan. Has been run by the same dude for like 5 years, but I joined in the last few months before evos were introduced.
The clan really had a family feel, they had their own discord where people would talk every day and be in voice channels just playing other games together.
War was doing really great, most people were Ultimate Champs.
And literally a week or so after the update dropped activity crashed.
The leader then wrote a really, really long message in the discord thanking the members for the time together, but it just isn't fun anymore and most really active and core people already left/are inactive so he decided to close the clan.
Of course it's not just because of Evolutions, but this update was the straw that broke the camels back. Just awful decisions by Supercell for years destroyed this community.
easy way to fix it is to restrict the two evolution slot to just trophy matches. this would make rank games better and the overall experience better
At this point it’s like impossible to climb ladder because so many people bought champions at low levels or spent money on the evolution in area 13 or 14 and it gets frustrating
I think if they revert the game to before the champions were released they'd make a shit ton of more money with millons of people coming back to the game
I think evolutions should only be available in a completely new game mode, where you know skill isnt required and its just mayhem, heck even do it so you can have 8 evolutions in your deck, but dont make the whole game p2w and not strategic
As a F2P this is exactly the reason why I don't push trophies anymore, then comes a point on path of legends when you face over levelled players and that's when I stop playing (every season)
What’s fucked for me is that my kind level turned to level 14 RIGHT after the new update which added the separation between king tower and crown towers, which means I’m stuck with my old level 13 crown towers, and you can’t even find the cards to upgrade them anywhere
i managed to get to arena 23 and league 9 last season while being lvl 14 with lvl 14 cards but now i don’t even want to try playing the game cause i feel like i could not even compete with lvl 15 players having 1 more evolution than me. i literally can’t play the game.

The changes that they are making is taking players away from ranked. I consider myself lucky to have 1 maxed deck to play on ranked with 2 evolutions but I understand that not everyone is fortunate. And with the new systems its going to be hard for players to test with decks and enjoy ranked modes.

not gonna lie this happens to a lot of games. The creators of the game build up the game and everyone enjoys it, then they start adding the pay to win aspect and the game becomes unfun
The extra thing about the double evolution at lvl 15 that really makes it salt in the wound, upgrading cards to level 15 gives you 50,000 xp, which makes it super easy to level up
i want 2v2 double elixer draft touchdown back, that was when the game was most fun
fr, the worst part is that almost every update is focusing on something that makes the game pay to win, i mean at least introduce new gamemodes or whatever that will just be fun and not be a reason to pay money

My deck from last season cant fit 2 evos and i dont have the wild cards to max a new deck so i cant even play path of legends for a few months now
It's also sad that every year they release new feature only to abandon it after a year
Now we are back to where we used to be, what would have been 8 years for a max account back when legendaries felt like legendaries. I honestly do like the mixed progression because it is really what supercell was going for, I do like how it reduces smurfing by forcing you to have progress but I just wish there was a side mode to grind every reward. Like an ltm that gave you lets say 250 or so common (scaled to rarity obv) wild cards so you could actually grind the game. This would also be an awesome and fun way to grind evolutions while still making it take time. I do like the time based progression because it allows you to build up your skill against people who have advantages against you but I feel like theres just no way to actually get that advantage (without paying) without waiting so long. I do love all this new stuff because it gives us new things to work towards while not just giving it to us, so we can become stronger without them and learn to be good at the game.
But if they want to lock progress behind multiple evo's, I really dont want to wait 4-5 months to get one and have that be just... one card... out of ones they release every month that could make or break the meta. Id rather something more flexible. This is nice and im hoping they do more because I truly think this is what is best for the game, but they have to make it accessible. I really think multiple evolutions brings a really cool dynamic into the game, but I wish they had more downside, like how supers costed more elixir. That way, matches would become more dynamic and less match up dependent as you could capitalize on big moments but also have a reason to not use those cards.
I think more evos could lead to more deck diversity, because you can run stuff like cycle to get them faster or run other cards to support them and do a lot more with them and not be as weak to spells, etc. Also offsetting cycles makes it so sometimes you have one or the other or both, and you can hold on to one to play both and be punished by one in return. I think its super cool how dynamic this is making the game instead of one side slowly getting an advantage or one player losing because of a minor slip up.
In the end I do realize they are probably just doing it for money, but I really think it could work out for everyone in the end as long as we all get our piece of the cake. Sadly, its impossible right now since you have to wait 5x as long to get an evo than it takes them to release a new one that just outclasses the rest, but if they choose to make them balanced I can see this being a lot of fun. Wonder if theyre ever just gonna launch a clash royale 2 so we can have a more... old experience? I hope this goes well, it seems very promising

Maybe they could rethink the way evolutions are played during battles, like an actual dark elixir system maybe?

I feel like they should do better with the event in the events tab. It seems they just do a draft or one locked card instead of what they used to do, like making a new card in a event. I feel they should be more creative with the event.
Been playing on and off mostly f2p since beta. Its insane at this point you HAVE to spend insane amounts of money
Same level of cards in ranked games like tournaments but they won't do it

The last new non champion card was the phoenix with the last non champion or legendary card being the goblin drill 💀
