I have a pair of pinking shears that belonged to my grandmother, then my mother, but the charity shop who sharpen knives, scissors, saws etc locally, told me it's not possible to sharpen them (they're not totally blunt). Now I can renovate them myself, thank you so much! :)
Good tip with the aluminium foil for sharpening scissors. As I've just spent 4 hours sharpening things for people at a repair cafe that's a great tip I'll be passing on - thank you!
Is there a way to true scissors? Like what I mean is how do I keep my scissors straight? It's weird but like if I don't want to warp my scissors. Basically I was just wondering what habits I should be looking for, just so I can learn for the future.
Thank you for your feedback and yay! 😊💪🏼✂️I have 4 pairs for that reason, a few years ago I tried it out when playing with the children and I couldn’t believe my luck 🌷I’m glad to have helped
It would save you a little bit of time to have a local sharpener who understands how to sharpen those correctly with the proper tools and experience it will only take about 2 minutes to get them back to the way they originally were when you bought them
I use a tormek, but most people don’t have those lying around. Taking off screws for some scissors can be fiddly, and getting the correct angle can be troublesome, this is a great technique that works well and ample for those people cutting fabric only,
@@AbisDen Most sandpaper is neither sand nor paper. I prefer a stone. Whichever metal is harder will change the other metal, sharpening rods and honers are hardened steel and so they change the scissors. Sharpening changes the surface of the metal by grinding or forcing the metal into a new position. Cutting foil is the river smoothing stone, or shaving with a credit card.

Thanks
You’re welcome 🌷💕😊
Oops and I just bought a tools, knives and scissors sharpening machine at Lidls 🙄
keep them, they will actually sharpen scissors
Cutting aluminum foil or sand paper doesn't sharpen scissors, but it will clean them.
Don’t cut sandpaper! It’s paper. It’ll dull your scissors. Foil is metal. Metal sharpens metal
