    I moved into a new house with a window that didnt work, it sucked because I workout in the morning and with my previous house, I would open the window to get fresh air in the room I worked out in. At this current house I could open the window but took a lot of effort. I needed the window open because it felt stuffy and I would feel suffocated
    With this video, I fixed my window and am empowered to help anyone if they ever need this information as well

    Great demonstration. One question - near the beginning you used a screwdriver to lift the clip out, then you can lift the window. What I don't understand is that it when the clip is out I would guess that the window would hit it when trying to lift the window. If the clip was left in (flat) then wouldn't that allow you to lift the window? Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  2 года назад

      With the clip popped out when you lift the window it disengages the channel balance so you can fully remove window. Just the way its designed. Hope this helps 👍

    Great video. Was able to do all of this but it appears as if there are 2 plastic pieces on the top corners of the window. One is intact and the other is broken. Great tutorial I have three windows in my house that have this issue. The sash balance came out in all three windows and I tried reinstalling the sash balances in one window to see if I could get the window to say up. After doing that and putting the window back both sash balances came out of the hole when I opened the window after closing it all the way as you did. For some reason the hooks aren't staying in the hole. I only have one square hole so I couldn't have gotten that part wrong. We've lived in this rental house for eight years and this was an issue when we moved in so I suspect the sash balances are just worn out and the hooks can't handle the tension. Thanks for helping me.

    As a temporary measure take some duck tape and cut two small pieces per side. Put them together so it's thick enough and tape the track just below the upper sash and it won't fall down.

    • @JonnyDIY

      Hmm I believe the stationary ones are just glued in with sticky tape stuff. Maybe its failing and causing them to fall. Sorry not 100 perent havent had to do that before. But my friend works for a window company and said theyre all just glued in

      @@JonnyDIY Other videos I found online showed a different style window. Yours looks almost just like mine. I didn't even need to replace the sash balance. I just had to hook the sting back into the hole in the window frame. I've been propping up this window for years. I should have fixed it sooner. It only took 15 minutes and that was with me cleaning the window and frame.

Maybe paint flowers 🌸 on it .. just to make it more intentional looking rather than a piece of lumber I found in the garage.
