I have a similar issue. Could you explain how you didn't need to buy new parts or sash mounts in order to get it to work? Thanks 🙏
I moved into a new house with a window that didnt work, it sucked because I workout in the morning and with my previous house, I would open the window to get fresh air in the room I worked out in. At this current house I could open the window but took a lot of effort. I needed the window open because it felt stuffy and I would feel suffocated
With this video, I fixed my window and am empowered to help anyone if they ever need this information as well
Thank you💚

Never had to learn this until I bought a house that needed half the windows replaced or fixed. Perfect video. Thank you.
Perfect length video
Cause of this video it took me less time to fix the window than it did to watch the video, and this video is super short. Thanks man the fact that you said to pick the hole with the most scuffs was super helpful too.
Awesome, glad you got it fixed & happy the video helped you do it 👍🏻
whew, did it! thanks!
before installing the new balancer, cleaned up a bunch of grime.
when installing the new channel balancer, had to grab it with entire hand and pull down. the spring was too hard to push down with just fingers. re-inserting the window, fit better by doing the right side of the window first.
You're welcome glad I could help you get it done 👍
After watching this finally I was able to fix my window. You are my life saver. Thanks a lot. ❤

You helped me fix my window, thank you! Yours is the best video on this topic.
You're welcome, glad I could help you fix your window 👍
Thanks for the video. It gave me insight as to what to look for. The balancer in my window is screwed in rather than held in by clips, but I assume it works essentially the same.
You're welcome, well it's also possible it could be a different type of balance. Theres spiral balances for instance.
Thank you so much for making this video!! I had no idea of how easy that was until your informative video!! Bravo and Thank you for sharing!!

You made it simple and to the point. Thanks to you my window works better than it ever has. You Rock!

Question my friend? Do you do garage door opener repairs? Mine is cranking like a cat in heat!😂
@@symongoni9634 haha, I haven't had to work on any recently. Try cleaning and lubing the wheels and track. And also clean and lube the chain if its chain driven. They sell special spray lube for garage doors but any lithium or silicone based spray will work well 👍 and if that doesn't help some of your wheels may need replacing
@@JonnyDIY will do my friend. I just can't believe how amazing your video is! I had my window working within minutes after your video! Thank you.
@@symongoni9634 you're welcome, glad it was a hassle free fix 👍
oh my god thank you!! we’ve had it broken for a few months who knew it would be so simple thank you!
You're very welcome, glad I could help! 👍
Great demonstration. One question - near the beginning you used a screwdriver to lift the clip out, then you can lift the window. What I don't understand is that it when the clip is out I would guess that the window would hit it when trying to lift the window. If the clip was left in (flat) then wouldn't that allow you to lift the window? Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!
With the clip popped out when you lift the window it disengages the channel balance so you can fully remove window. Just the way its designed. Hope this helps 👍
Thank you so much. I was finally able to fix my window because of your video.

Hi Jonny! Is this any different if the wonky pane is the TOP/outside one?? Thanks!

Hi there! My channel balance is just like yours. Only problem I am having is that the shoe on the bottom doesn't catch the side of the window. So it is always in the far up position. Mine is in working order otherwise. Should I put duct tape around the bottom of the shoe for more fill?
It's worth a try to see if itll get it working, if not may need to replace with one that fits correctly
Thanks, worked like a charm
You're welcome, happy I could help you out
great video..i was able to save hundreds by doing it myself..thank you
You're welcome, glad I could help 👍
Thanks. Quick and to the point. However my windows do not have the stop clips (same exact setup as your video however no clips). How do I keep the tensioners from snapping up when I pull them down?
Great video. Was able to do all of this but it appears as if there are 2 plastic pieces on the top corners of the window. One is intact and the other is broken. So both balance are in tact and the springs look good but one side is not working because of that missing plastic piece on the window. Can that be replaced or would I then need to replace the whole window?
Those should be able to be ordered new. Try a window and glass shop
Thank you so much for the great video! You now have a new subscriber!

Great tutorial I have three windows in my house that have this issue. The sash balance came out in all three windows and I tried reinstalling the sash balances in one window to see if I could get the window to say up. After doing that and putting the window back both sash balances came out of the hole when I opened the window after closing it all the way as you did. For some reason the hooks aren't staying in the hole. I only have one square hole so I couldn't have gotten that part wrong. We've lived in this rental house for eight years and this was an issue when we moved in so I suspect the sash balances are just worn out and the hooks can't handle the tension. Thanks for helping me.
Yes sounds like they need replacement. Can measure and order online but easiest to bring in to a window shop to see replacement match parts

As a temporary measure take some duck tape and cut two small pieces per side. Put them together so it's thick enough and tape the track just below the upper sash and it won't fall down.

Hi not sure if you’re still checking this video out but does this work for the outer window too? That’s the one that’s broken that’s meant to stay up but won’t
It should be similar process if it uses these type window balances, yes.
@@JonnyDIY ok thank you so much
I have a few windows where the top window that stays stationary is not completely up and is a little crooked. Its causing the bottom window that goes up and down, not to lock. I tried pushing the top window up but it doesnt stay in place. What can i do?
Hmm I believe the stationary ones are just glued in with sticky tape stuff. Maybe its failing and causing them to fall. Sorry not 100 perent havent had to do that before. But my friend works for a window company and said theyre all just glued in

I have “old” wood windows…. I’m trying to find something to keep the window open. I’m using an ugly cardboard box which is driving me crazy. Looking for a DIY to solve that problem!!
I used to cut like a piece of 1x2" wood stick to prop them up. Or a heavy dowel or wooden broom stick cut to size 👍
@@JonnyDIY …. I think I will try that. My plan was to paint a piece of wood and use that. Maybe paint flowers 🌸 on it .. just to make it more intentional looking rather than a piece of lumber I found in the garage. A dowel or broomstick might be a better idea tho… gotta be strong enough not to crush my poor little cat who sleeps in that window 😊 Thanks.
