WWF / WWE WrestleMania is considered (and supposed to be) the biggest show the company produces every year. There's been some great WrestleMania events in the past including WrestleMania XIX, WrestleMania X-7 and WresleMania 30, but not all Mania events are created equal. Some annual mania shows have been pretty bad including Mania 2 (that was hosted in 3 different cities), WrestleMania 27 (hosted by The Rock) and WrestleMania IX (from Ceaser's Palace). Fans on Cagematch scored each and every Wrestlemania event in history, and this video explores the lowest rated shows.
From Hulk Hogan swooping in to take the WWF Championship from Yokozuna to The Rock vs John Cena "Twice in a lifetime", from LT and Bam Bam Bigelow main eventing to Bret and Shawn going for 60 minutes in Anaheim, these are the worst rated WrestleMania events in history.

Wrestlemania 12 holds a special place in my heart. It was the first WM I watched live on PPV. This was about/right before the internet and the online dirt sheets, before everyone became a smart mark. This was when wrestling was still "real." I've watched the iron man match about 50 times. The whole match wasn't the most entertaining but it was all building up until the last few minutes, which is still one of the most intense moments in wrestling. I think most fans fully expected to see Savage vs Steamboat in a rematch of WM3, since they were paired in the same half of the bracket. Would have been a great babyface vs babyface angle, even for just one match. Instead, Steamboat loses, and Savage quickly beats Valentine (who granted, I think is awesome) in a match that meant nothing. I think a Steamboat vs Savage in the semifinals would have been spectacular. Savage gets his redemption, but it's another bitter slog and he's completely gassed going into the finals, creating more storyline tension.

*For my money, HHH vs Reigns at ‘Mania 32 is the worst WrestleMania main event EVER. Sure people argue that there are other ‘Mania main events that are way worse but when it comes to this match, it’s just an absolute chore to get through. It was a WrestleMania main event that the fans didn’t wanna see. An end result to a WrestleMania main event the fans didn’t want to see. The company was so out of touch at the point that they made it clear that they didn’t care what the fans wanted and they just told us to just shut up and deal with it. With the runtime of the match dragging on for 27 agonizing minutes, it resulted in one of, if not the worst ‘Mania main event ever. They really just should’ve had Dean Ambrose vs HHH in the main event of that year’s ‘Mania since he was clearly the most over babyface. A babyface whom the fans were actually cheering for. He was ready to breakout and WWE really held him back so Reigns could get all the glory. It also didn’t help the fact that WWE completely MUTED the booing fans in the main event of WrestleMania for God’s sake. SMH.* 🙄

I 100% agree I don’t even want to rewatch that match because it’s too long. Build was F. Fan reaction was F. Actual wrestling was a C but it’s still an F match

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Vince didn't insist on Roman at Wrestlemania 31 and instead had him vs Rusev for the US and built Reigns more gradually. I wonder if they hadn't tried to force him into the main event if by the time Wrestlemania 32 had come around if people would have viewed him as deserving the spot at that time.

I always felt like WrestleMania XI could have been the Mania booked for Wembley Stadium with a possible Babyface & Royal Rumble winner British Bulldog challenging a more fitting Heel World Champ Shawn Michaels for the title in the Main Event. I also always felt that Bam Bam Bigelow should have been booked against The Undertaker instead that year too

I'm surprised WWE is not doing the multiple venue thing today for WM - have the first day at one location and the next day at the second. Sure, it will cost more from a production standpoint by needing two entirely different setups and twice the crew, but selling twice as many tickets will offset that easily.

I will always have a soft spot for Wrestlemania 9. But I think it’s because it was the first ever Mania I saw.

Agreed, I can't hate on 9, I've always found it to be a fun show regardless of the togas or match quality. Plus JR, Heenan, and Macho were a highly entertaining announcing trio.

wrestlemania 9 you had 2 count outs and 2 DQ's as well as the hogan nonsense at the end. At least WM11 had some proper finishes it was just a weak card due to that time in the era of wwe. WM 9 is way worse than 11.

I have some very fond nostalgic memories of Wrestlemania 9. As it was the first wrestlemania I can remember watching, after the PPV via VHS. Therefore it holds a special place for me. I did get Wrestlemania 11 on VHS, for Christmas 95. It was the only way I had to watch wrestling back then having no sky. The PPV was just dull and boring sold on celebrities very few people cared about.

@@martynodonnell also WrestleMania 11 has a surprisingly high amount of technical issues when it comes to the production of the show, and for some reason that's never bought up.
