I know it's just a tutorial, but the last note, the home position for each 4x run, wouldn't ever get played going by some of the tabs.. (played twice in others) We're lucky you explained it so well, helps a lot, thanks dude!
On this year 2011 was the year first saw your lesson.. watching till 2016 then miss a 1 yr.. now back to your channel.. dude that was lit.. Too much improvement in your channel.. got a nice and awesome rig... miss this white Charvel... God Bless Sir.. Keep rocking.. I just keep rooting here to your channel and still one of your student...
thanks man this video really helped out it only took me about 20-25 minutes to get down. every other video i looked at just constantly talked about WHAT arpeggios are but not HOW to use them in your advantage. i honestly think this video is gonna really help in the future with some of my soloing thanks again
@cradshuffel hmm i def should have talked about that in the video my trick is i rest my picking hand on the bridge barly touching the strings this keeps the strings slightly muted at all times . i would just play around with right and left hand muting techniques ,but in part 2 ill def talk about that
Thanks Bro, you taught me my first 3 Arpeggios. Who needs to pay for guitar lessons when there is RUclips. Keep up the great work. I have been playing guitar for 28 years and only had about a year of lessons total. I'm am a pretty decent guitar player, not great, but pretty good. I even had lessons from Zakk Wyldes original guitar teacher, he lives about 8 mins from my house and if I ever paid for lessons again I would go to you before him.
Nice video. Not sure what's up with the lawnmower though lol. I like the patterns you chose a little more than some of the other arpeggio patterns as they don't involve a finger roll. Shared your video on my facebook page for my music store I recently opened for people to check out.
liked your page. facebook.com/csmstoremusic that's the store page. I live in a small town and people had to drive 45 minutes just to get strings so after graduating for music production decided to open a small store in town
I recognize what you were doing at 2:36. Kirks solo on master of puppets starts with that. I kinda cheat by barring the base note. I'm working on doing it how you did tho. Thanks for the lessons!
@sunnyjim98 haha yeah after i uploaded it a was like dang a typo but i figure people know what i mean . And thanks man for watching my vid and for the sub . Charvels are such amazing guitars
Another key to sweeping properly is to never let your picking hand stop. Think of your pick as a tank that smashes through every string at the same speed without stopping. You will have a small delay during hammer ons and pull offs, but don't let that delay stop your sweep. I learned that from a guy who is a great sweep picker, and it helped a lot. CyberLeaf's comment is just as important.
Dude your video was exactly what i was lookin for to learn some new stuff, and thanks to you and some speedy fingerwork i got this part of the technique down in 20 minutes! Your an awesome player man :)
Awesome vid man, really helped me understand how the sweeps work in a theoretical sense as well as giving a clear and concise demonstration to show me how the theory is put into practice..and your video intro gave me a good laugh too :) You've got a like and sub coming your way dude. Thanks again man!
This is hard. I'm just finally hitting my stride on guitar and I'm back to having that issue of remembering to breath steadily again. Also, on some of these my right hand doesn't want to return back to the original alternate picking pattern after the first time back through the chord. I think that is what is holding me up the most. For instance on that C maj arpeggio I really want to pick up on the B string every time and it takes all the concentration I have to remember to down pick after the first time through the chord.
Robert Baker Thanks for taking the time to put up your videos. Also, thanks for taking the time to answer. That kind of stuff is really encouraging. I won't be giving up on this until I got it. \m/
Hey Robert thanks for this video! Just one question, how do you mute your strings when sweeping? When I try to mute with my thumb, the sound cuts out before it can ring a little, and when I try to mute with my palm, it just sounds like a palm muted sweep. Thanks!
Robert you should really try getting Fret12 to let you make a dvd with them, i know id buy it since both A) your awesome and B) I have all the Fret12 stuff lolz
Seeing the size of that lawn made me glad I live in the city. I live on a corner, and that means I have twice the amount of grass to cut than everyone else in my neighborhood, and I hate it. They just have to cut the backyard, the front lawn, and the parkway (the stretch of land between the sidewalk and the street) in front of their house. I have that plus the parkway on the side of the house, which is big. Too small for a riding mower, yet big enough to be a major pain in the ass to mow.
Really great Robert. I'm just starting out with lessons and I will give this a try. Thanks for posting and I will subscribe to your channel. Don't mind these idiots who only want to criticize. There are lots of us who appreciate the help. :)
This was a great way to break down the arpeggio mechanics. I can't wait to practice this. Thanks Robert!!
You must be insane at playing now. Nine years later
I know it's just a tutorial, but the last note, the home position for each 4x run, wouldn't ever get played going by some of the tabs.. (played twice in others) We're lucky you explained it so well, helps a lot, thanks dude!

@cradshuffel hmm i def should have talked about that in the video my trick is i rest my picking hand on the bridge barly touching the strings this keeps the strings slightly muted at all times . i would just play around with right and left hand muting techniques ,but in part 2 ill def talk about that

Some of these comments are pretty silly. Excellent video on sweep picking, I'm working on it right now. Thanks for taking time to put this together.

Hi there that's totally normal sweep picking is an extremely difficult technique to get down . I still practice it all the time
Robert Baker

@zacpetty123 thanks dude glad u like them i post new lessons all the time
@rguitar I will make some more next month! ROCK!!
Can sweep picking or any other shredding technique apply to a guitar such as a Stratocaster?
Sounding pretty good to me man. It's my weaker area too though.
Thanks for the playing tips.
Thanks man! Borderline Awesome video. I'm gonna have some fun with these.
Hey Robert thanks for this video!
Just one question, how do you mute your strings when sweeping? When I try to mute with my thumb, the sound cuts out before it can ring a little, and when I try to mute with my palm, it just sounds like a palm muted sweep.
Thanks!
Hello Robert, I like the lesson, i am practicing it, but when I release the G string it keeps droning the low G. What should I do to this?
@CDP110 thanks dude !
