I Love how you ask the question "Why the separation?". Yes, Tai Chi is a spiritual/Taoist & meditative art, but In ancient times it is ALSO a BATTLEFIELD art. And like you said, it's not just the form, breathing, Chi Gung & Push Hands. It's sparring, pressure testing, the San Da/San Shou and combat. It only begins to live up to its name (Supreme Ultimate) when ALL aspects are included. Great video & Thank you

I was punching with weights for three three minute rounds, with one minute rest in between, before my fights. I’ve somehow managed to lose my hand weights which I’m pretty gutted about as they’re nearly 30 years old.
I think it definitely helps with that kind of loose power. I’m not sure it has any real advantage over hitting pads, in fact, I’d say from a power development side, pads probably work better, if I’m absolutely honest but it’s a great conditioning exercise at the very least

With queries such as this there’s a real chance that for its many benefits, peng Jing, hua na fa, not to mention JI Power Pressing alone, can also be recognized for their danger of leading one astray. In this respect, its no mystery why 4th generation eldest son of Yang Cheng Fu, Yang Sau Chung, who embodied Taichi’s complete training is not relatable to the mainstream. Dude, I found this vid very interesting :)
I like your laid back presentation, makes a nice change.
I also want to see Tai Chi work for real, like in your example but also in a more obvious way.
I have thought about it quite a bit and have been thinking lately, part of the reason Tai chi appears to be bullshit is that maybe the original practitioners were just way better at it than as currently exists. I'm not talking to the fajing wizzard stuff but the regular martial side of it.
I have seen two dudes on youtube that seem to show it working to an extent, on possibly non compliant opponents, but very little other than that.
Maybe I just havn't been looking long enough.
I think your example is very good, in that Tai Chi is useful as part of an overall skillset rather than a stand alone system, maybe, I don't know much about it. Clearly the mobility improvement and way it programs your body to move as a coherent unit is useful in any martial situation, it certainly can't hurt to have it in your pocket.
    Caveat to my comments:
The missus is calling me for dinner and I am rushing this.
I have been practicing Xingyi which is the same family as Tajiquan and the other one that begins with a B that escapes me right now and have been interested in getting into Tai Chi for a long while (which led me to this vid) but havn't been convinced of it's efficacy sufficiently at this point in time. I'm gonna watch a bunch more of your vids and hopefully it will educate me more and who knows tip the balance for me.
Anyway Dinners going cold, cool vid and thank you for making it :)

Interesting. I would not say that Taijiquan is sufficient to compete in MMA, but this is true of nearly all traditional martial arts. Taiji provides useful drills and practices for use in MMA, but since push hands is most useful for moving someone out of a space, caged fights limit how it can be applied. I think a different setting might be better to showcase Taiji fighting, but I do respect your efforts.

From a near pure intellectual place (and spiritual in the sense of the results of a life of dedicated meditational and devotional practice), I think your points are all valid. And, the Mizner boys are not communicating well, while the MMA style critics (like Varga) aren’t applying any Tai Chi knowledge or even remote awareness of hundreds of years of records and hardcore combat success, so dismiss them from any regard other than, “Is it working for you in the cage?.” I believe Mizner has successfully acquired the “mystical,” magic side of TCC. I know that the near insane magic is real. It’s just far, far too well documented in too many verifiable places, including especially those of other martial arts, even Japanese sword if all things. It is a magic that too many alternative technique devotees have acquired for me to discredit, after over thirty years of on again off again research. So, my point (and I apologize for not knowing your name, I’ve never seen you in my feed before)… You’re doing well with the aspects of TCC you’re clearly mastering. And, I suspect that if you ignore the trolls who happen to be parasites of Mizner , and nullify their negative consciousness in yourself, you may actually receive Mizner’s profound awareness of a particular sort of being, and maybe your whole life will explode with awareness. As a special byproduct, maybe even explode with even greater combat success. Why not? What do you have to lose? Maybe a dedication to a school of TCC thought that is competing with other schools, even other techniques in an oblique way, excluding their knowledge out of loyalty or chauvinism. I’m subscribing to you now. I won’t be looking at your other communications right this moment, but I’ll be paying attention, and I hope and envision profound success for you, whether in the cage or in your experience of life.

Oh Dumber, I'm sorry I'm just now seeing another of your "one man stand-up show". I just thought it couldn't get any funnier... but you surprise me again. First, you should have titled your video "RUclips Troll Responds to Another RUclips Troll" (we all know you're a RUclips troll now receiving a portion of the same thing you're offering). I'm glad you're uploading more videos of your MMA -fights - it'll be something to have fun with friends who understand this stuff. I think that with your next video, instead of refuting the things I wrote to you before, you perfectly prove them - the clumsiness, the lack of coordination, the lack of timing, the absent defense, through which even a much smaller opponent can easily reach your empty head ... And the fact that this rookie, who was charging forward with swinging punches and not looking (and even they were coming in, haha) and finally got tired, so you managed to beat him, does not say that you had some quality fight. The only thing I agree with from what you said is that "you are not a great fighter, not even an average one...". This is obvious, it's good that you are aware of it. In this video in particular, what I like the most is how your pitiful running away with your back to your opponent and your arm thrown back like some girl... suddenly turned out to be the "Taiji Quan principle" and a great skill in "managing the combat distance" . Are you serious!!! Y'know, this is one of your best jokes ever. Please keep uploading more videos of your MMA career with explanations (I don't know what's more fun, the fights or your explanations), and I promise I'll watch and enjoy them. I see that after Benny Hill and along with Roan Atkinson, Great Britain has great potential in you. :)
And about the real fights - as I've told you before, I have more than enough. But none were as funny as these. But you have video footage... so you win. Too bad you're not around. We could have filmed something with you. :) So, work on the defense - it's very bad, as I told you before. Get your jab right too - it's slow and clumsy, you lose all your height advantage with such clumsiness. You move on flat feet and let your guard down at any danger. Train more, so you don't keep giving me and my friends reasons to have fun. We want you to make us proud of you. :) And, by the way - Taiji Quan is an absolutely complete and awesome martial art. Which you would have understood a long time ago, if instead of wasting your time in amateur MMA tournaments, you had gathered the courage to meet Mizner live. We have no doubts that Taiji Quan is a martial art - you are the one who has them, so you have to solve your problems and doubts with MMA training. Just a note, nothing personal. Come on, stay healthy, train and don't get offended when people give you constructive criticism. It's for your own good. :) Ah yes, I almost forgot - when you ask your rhetorical questions and then pause and look at the camera (apparently expecting some kind of response from the screen), you are especially funny. As Robert De Niro's character in "Analyze This" would say - "you've got talent!" :)

I stopped reading after the first line. As I said before, I don’t take advice from keyboard warriors that have never had a real fight in their lives 😂

@@indefenceofthetraditionalma Don't worry, Dumber, I know you won't read it. I wrote it for the other people who will read it. Although, if they understand at least a little about full contact, they see it themselves. But that doesn't stop me from having fun pointing out how funny you are. :) And, by the way, you will read it (ace you haven't read it already). to find out how you exposed yourself again with your next video and comments to it. However, after all our communication you are as clear as day to me. 🤣🤣🤣

@@fudomyoominano one is reading an essay written by a keyboard warrior who’s clearly never been in a real fight. If you had there’s no way you would believe in snake oil salespeople.
Instead of offering fictional scenarios of you filming with me, why not go to a local mma gym and film your interactions there. Would love to see it

@@indefenceofthetraditionalma Oh dear, you'd be surprised how many people enjoy reading things written by someone who understands. By the way, some time ago I wrote you specifically what gaps I see in you while you are performing the Taiji Quan form. Anyone who understands will understand for himself how much I understand the subject, judging by my comments. It's the same here - if you really understood at least a little, you'd know how much I understand about real full-contact sparring even just from what I've written for you as remarks. (I hope you differentiate between a real fight and full-contact sparring in competition, if you don't, that's your problem). But neither in the first case nor in this one do you understand anything. Which shows how much you don't understand these things. which is also evident in the way you perform them. In fact, I've been wrong before - I really can't say which you're worse at - Tai Chi Quan or MMA. In both, it is quite far from even the average level. We can do such an experiment - send Gabriel Varga your video, with my comments, and ask him what he thinks about it - whether they are true or not. You have him as an authority, don't you - if you hear the same things from him, maybe you will finally understand. And maybe you won't get knocked out badly in some future tournament. :)

@@fudomyoomina another essay no one will read from a man who’s never had a real fight.
You’re just showing that my point using Gabriel Varga is correct. Try watching my video again and maybe you’ll finally get it.
There’s a reason why the positive comments I’ve had come from people who’ve actually had fights.
