I’m most looking forward to seeing how the Eleonora dress from Silversaga goes for you, and how it differs from the Willa dress pattern by Rosie Caldwell that you’ve already made. I’m a confident beginner so I’d love to know which pattern is easier 🙂
I absolutely love the pinafore you are wearing in this video. Every time you wear it in a video, I get so distracted by it. The fabric is absolutely gorgeous and looks great on you! Looking forward to seeing all the new Spring creations you make!
I'm definitely most excited for the black Pansy dress and would love to see a tutorial, either with the black fabric or not. I have some black on black gingham fabric that I want to make a pansy style dress out of so it would be really interesting to see what you come up with. And I do love broderie anglais!
Janelle dear. A suggestion for the darling sheer dress. I sew with a lot of sheer fabric and what I find the easiest thing to do is to make a separate slip! Then your not struggling trying to aligning the two lightweight fabrics. I do so enjoy your videos especially because of you! They make me smile!
Thank you for this because I was really on the fence about how to line a dress I’m planning to make with a sheer crinkle rayon! Definitely will be easier to just make a separate lining, I was gonna try to flatline it
@ericamillner9767 would you happen to have any suggestions for an easy slip? A pattern or tips? Or should I just go for it. I've only made a skirt. Please and thanks ❤
@@JB-vd8bi congratulations on starting your sewing journey! I have been sewing for many years so I make my own patterns. With todays available sun dress patterns, look for one with spaghetti straps and a bodice with a somewhat lower neckline and slim or full shirt that reflex’s the style of dress that you are needing the slip for. Hope that helps.🧵🪡
I'm looking forward to all the videos! You asked about working on black fabric. I'm fine if that's the one you show - your explanations are so clear that I find it still easy to follow along.
Regarding the chiffon crepe you could do two things either flat line it with a lightweight cotton lawn or fine silk and sew as one piece or you could make a simple slip dress to go underneath 😊
Loved all the fabrics and patterns you’ll be making. I wear a lot of black so I’m looking forward to the black pansy.. it’ll be extra inspiration for me lol. Actually, I’m looking forward to all of them. Thanks Janelle! ❤️🌸
That Battenburg lace tablecloth is GORGEOUS! (I'm biased because I was obsessed with Battenburg in the late 80s and early 90s.) It will look stunning as a statement collar.
The fabrics are all so beautiful! The crepe fabric looks like it goes perfectly with both the eucalyptus linen and the red/orange shirting fabric. Idk if you have enough fabric but I feel like blouse out of the crepe would look so perfect paired with both ideas you have for the other two fabrics! Looking forward to seeing all your spring sewing!
I love the Battenburg lace - a blouse would be lovely. In my teens I always wanted a Battenburg bedspread. I think I’ve just reignited that dream 😊If needed you could always use some extra white fabric if the tablecloth isn’t quite enough for a blouse. I love that project planning tool - how handy!
Thank you for yet another inspirational sewing plans video! 😍 Regarding the black pansy dress; I would love to see a video of you making it - for me it does not matter to see everything perfectly; you are so easy to understand either way 🥰 And you already have a tutorial video for the original pansy - I would probably just watch that if anything got confusing in the black version 😊
Lovely plans! It’s such a nice feeling, getting that flush of inspiration and excitement when the seasons turn. I’m looking forward to the pintuck bodice dress! There is just something so pleasing and timeless about pintucks, so subtle but at the same time gives such an elevated impact.
Congratulations on your first trip to Joann's! You made it sound so exotic and exciting, but I swear they're on every street corner out here (and not as exciting as one would hope hahaa) LOVE your plans. I can't wait to see the black dress come to life. You should do a tutorial if you end up doing the shirred bodice! I've been dying to do something similar.
Omg ❤. I love love love ❤️ your wardrobe plan for spring Janelle. In love with so many of these patterns. ❤❤❤❤. Also. My pansy and daisy patterns both arrived. Oh my heart ♥️. I’m in love 🥰. I’ve traced out my size already and raiding my fabric stash. Going to go thrifting to buy some tablecloths and sheets. Love ❤️ doing that. Saves so much money. Mind you. I’m totally planning to get into spotlight to buy some of that broiderie anglaise fabric ❤❤❤oh my ❤
I think filming the black is fine you’re always really good at showing details clearly. But if it makes extra work for you to make the black film well then I say film the tutorial in a different fabric that you love and just sew the black one for you and show us both at the end :)
I love watching your sewing plan videos! I actually made a pair of seersucker black and white gingham shorts with your shorts pattern and added a ruffle to the bottom of the legs, and they turned out sooo cute. Unfortunately I made them late in August and won't be able to wear them again until next summer but I've gotten so much wear out of them already. I definitely recommend adding ruffles for an extra cutesy look :)
The lace on the white tablecloth is called Battenberg. If you google, there are lots of ways people have transformed tablecloths into stunning garments. I’d love to see a tutorial with the black broderie anglaise.
Hi Janelle, thanks once again for the inspiring video! With the white lace blouses I can't help myself feeling like I will look like someone who goes to work in a restaurant serving food😅 which somehow does not really inspire me to sew a blouse even though I have accumulated some white lace over time. How do you navigate the balance? How do I feel elevated with a white lace collar?
hi Janelle. i love making summery dresses too. What do you use to line your dresses? if i want to water my light cotton dresses in winter with tights, they ride up due to friction from the cotton fabric. Would you happen to have any suggestions for lining materials? How do you wear your summer dresses in winter?
I personally like lining my dresses with lightweight cotton lawn, but yeah tights are a problem in winter. This year’s winter has been quite mild here so I’ve gotten away with wearing no tights some days.
Would love your pansy pattern hack, I just got my pattern last week in the post! I'm making your black and white gingham version first 😊. Although right now I'm making a bunch of pattern hacked Willa dresses from a maternity dress pattern I had. They are so good for my post-partum body and easy for breast feeding! Thank you so much for your inspiration and can't wait to make my very own pansy dress when fabric arrives! ❤😊

I'd love to see the tutorial of the black dress! Don't worry if some parts are hard to see, it's just fun watching the process.
Thank you! I’m really looking forward to making that dress 😍
Oh please make Abbey's shirred linen dress! Her tutorial on instragram wasn't detailed enough and I'd love an in depth video on how to make it 🥰
Me too!
Do a tutorial with the black fabric. We’re here to watch you make things you love.

I recently learned from The Stitchery that that type of embroidery is called chicken scratch embroidery!

Thanks for the heads up on the Spotlight sale. Just ran out and got myself some of that beautiful linen!
I've had my eye on that pintuck dress from Frux Studio too! Hoping to make it in a bright blue hemp fabric I bought in Japan last year.

The white lace table cloth would also look so cute as elbow patches on a simple sweater!
Such a cute idea!
Contrast thread ?
I think the lack of shirting fabric may be because we call it Poplin? Any other aussies know for certain?
Lovely selection again. No black for tutorial please.

I think if you film black on white background, with a little editing you'll be fine
Eyelet fabric is not the best material for a gathered bodice or neckline. It can get lumpy…..
