- Addy and Lily Altobelli were conjoined at birth, sharing a liver, diaphragm, chest and abdominal wall. At ten months old, doctors performed a ten-hour surgery to separate the sisters. Today, the babies are thriving and the entire Altobelli family joins TODAY to share their inspiring story. “We gave it to God, and we’ve done that throughout this whole journey,” mom Maggie Altobelli says.

As a respiratory therapist at CHOP, I was involved in direct care with Lily and Addy in the NICU and PICU. They were happy babies, and Im glad they are doing well!
I'm glad I can, maybe, ask you a question I was curious about. Why do they have tubes in their noses and how long will they need it? Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately due to HIPPA someone who has worked with a patient should not answer questions concerning a patient. If a question is worded differently without reference to a individual then answering it easier
@@DanielleFerreira-kt7ix They are probably still having swallowing issues and have difficulty getting enough nourishment the regular way, so they are tube-fed as a supplement.

Thank you! I don't know these parents, and I'm not even in PA, but this all happened during the covid pandemic on top of all the rest of the stress... You people are HEROES! This is wonderful news!! I know how dedicated this team had to have been because I'm a regular at our local cancer center where the medical staff is absolutely 100% pure AWESOME! It's a privilege to be in such capable and competent hands like yours. I wish more people had access to this kind of quality care.
Surgeons have been successful with more complicated separations. Luckily, these girls only shared a liver (which can be separated, and regrow) and a diaphragm. BRAVO, to all those medical geniuses, and staff members!!
Do they each have their own pair of legs? Cuz I only saw 2 when they were together so one leg for each twin
@@brennathecatlover4360 I’m pretty sure I saw a glimpse of 4 legs, but even if not, it’s not the end of the world to only have one. There could have been much worse ways to be joined, definitely a great turn out for this family. I’m sure it was very scary for them.
I wonder how they were able to separate the diaphragm?
@@VintageRose75 I am pretty sure that is why they have trachs until that diaphragm heals and most likely physical therapy with a breathing specialist is coming, is my guess. Amazing what can be done nowadays.

When I was little I thought all twins were born conjoined I thought that's just how they all came 😩 happy these girls and their parents are doing well now 💕

There are many Parents who are just as wonderful as this couple. Look it up yourself. This is Not the first Family to have Conjoined Twins.
Darnit, once I saw daddy sobbing once he 1st saw them separated, GOT ME & I teared up too! So glad they're ok & are going to have a normal existence!

I became pregnant with twins 30 years ago. I never once even thought they could be conjoined until after their birth. (they weren't conjoined). My babies were born 12 weeks early and we had a long NICU stay with just that. I can't even imagine going through what these parents did and how brave and strong they were. I was a bumbling mess daily.

We have twins named Faith and Hope too! Their pics were together so MUCH till one lady at my job asked about them. But they were apart. And NOW they have 6 children apiece! Faith had 6 for a while, but now Hope caught up! I performed Hope's wedding in 2006! GLORY!

This mother had such courage to go forward with her pregnancy knowing they were conjoined. Medical advances made it possible.
It's even MORE courageous to have them for GOD before scans were available! Many didn't live, but those individual souls live with the LORD, and will receive GLORIFIED bodies when HE returns! HALLELUJAH! 🙏🙌

Separation of conjoined twins has been performed for 60 years at CHOP; it’s not new.

The souls GOD makes are perfect. However, sin came in, and mankind's new master, (the devil) has now BECAUSE of sin, been able to wreak havoc on the bodies and souls GOD has made. Such a heartwarming story. My apologizes to the family. These media folk love to insert me into their work and other people’s lives. I don’t agree with their “tiny” gestures and the idea of a “tiny” moment when it cost you so much to bring your two girls through pregnancy and then an operation to separate them. I assure you that God was with you every step of the way, And I know that it could not have been easy. God bless you both. And may you have the best lives ever with your two beautiful little girls.
