Wow! I'm just starting to learn UE5 (two weeks) and this is BY FAR the best starter guide to the sky systems for beginners I have ever seen. Subscribed ... and please make more of these for beginners like me!
Great Tutorial! Do you think we can change the Rayleigh scattering color on the fly at runtime without too much overhead (because of eventual LUT updates).
Thank you for explaining everything easily. I have one question though. I'm trying to create solid color background following this steps but not able to hide the sun glare. Anything specific setting to update?
Hello, is there a way to sample that light color produced by the Rayleigh Scattering and Rayleigh Scattering Scale, as the directional light is rotated?
You can adjust Height Fog Offset and to bring up the fog layer up to your ground level, and maybe increase density to make it stronger. If you only want fog in certain areas take a look at volumetric clouds. docs.unrealengine.com/4.27/en-US/BuildingWorlds/FogEffects/VolumetricFog/
Hmmm when I add the exponential height fog the bottom half of the world does not brighten up - it remains completely black. Any ideas for what it might be? I've scrolled through all the settings and can't find anything.
Make sure the directional light is already added too. You might also want to try removing and re-adding it to get the default values back (or scroll through the details and makes sure they are all reset).
idk why but on default third person map or any other my light is orange, when turn off skylight, then all its ok, someone know why this is happening or how to fix?
hello could you do a tutorial for night time fog. I have an indoor scene and cant get fog to work. i want to be able to see my light penetrate the fog any ideas?
Make sure you have a directional light added, and under the details for it, go to the section "Atmosphere and Cloud." Then make sure "Atmosphere Sun Light" is enabled.

I need fog in the scene not out in the atmosphere, well I want it there too but how do you get on the ground in your scene?

when i add the sky atmosphere, the sun is not visible

Is this still the same in Unreal 5 Preview ?
Yeah, this should be mostly the same in UE4 and newer versions of UE5. Some of the menu items may be in different locations.
Why am I watching I don’t even make games
Ctrl + L doesn't work for me.
Try the CTRL key on the right side of your keyboard too, I noticed it didn't always work with my left side CTRL.
