Inside the centre circle should be all your manufacturing houses, Fletcher's, shoe makers, etc have a back lane, small road and the next inner circle is your livestock, chickens, goats, the outer circle have vegetables and trees. The outside houses will have the larger plots for vegetables and trees.

Something to note is to not level up your houses before having the next level requirements ready to go. Level 2 homes need tavern with ale available. Also I think more clothes or something. If you don't have it it will count against your happiness. If you need silver just sell berries passively because you have the higher yielding berry location. Clay turned into rooftiles for selling is also hella profitable.

Bandits do more than just steal resources. They also hoard GOLD. It is VERY profitable to go after bandit camps, and they aren't particularly hard to fight. Just move a unit to their camp once you have won, and then you can either add their the spoils to your regional wealth, or, if you have built a manor, you can choose to put it in your treasury, from which you can equip your retinue of knights, or hire mercenaries. ='[.]'=

You literally made your settlement like a typical non-straight-road euro settlement I don't understand why you said Europeans would hate it lmao; the village center tends to form something like what you've built with the market (albeit usually not in a diamond shape lmao) and the church/meadhall/important person house/insert your own depending on culture and period, and any "straight line settlements" popping up along the roads would usually be an extension of that earlier town or supplementary villages (often called colonies or based on what they specialised on. There's one funny, medieval polish naming convention I remember - it means "asses" and that's supposedly where polish version of buttfuck nowhere comes from. Because it's the most remote "supplementary settlement", usually next to a forest)
Of course there are counterexamples like idk, lusatian culture or certain cultures from the northeast coast of what's now US, however these are often elaborate, defended settlements and seem to be a minority.
Edit: Now that I think of it, while I'm not exactly educated in pre-civilised settlements of Amazonia or southeast Asia, from what I've seen in travel (and photos) even people living in places without roads tend to build like this...
It must be a natural thing to do I guess, we're just insane these days!

I got around 50-75 comments on my last vid with this design saying i must be an American from mostly EU accounts.
They don't understand the math behind it and how it interacts with the game. To me a perfectly optimized build is a wonderful thing. But that's because i'm a thinker not a feeler.
