I LOVE Manhattan Transfer. They have such tight harmonies. A must hear from them is Route 66. Tuxedo Junction is another great number. Thanks for your reaction. I truly enjoyed watching!
"The Boy from New York City" will always be my favorite song by Manhattan Transfer 😁😁
It's a good'un!
I love that one also. They had a television series in the late 1970's or early 1980's I think
I forgot, this was also the entrance song for the wrestler "Handsome Jimmy Valiant. That's when I fell in love with Boy from New York city. I watched wrestling all the time just to hear that song, I still remember the lyrics by heart
Yeah, that one is fun, but in my opinion their masterpiece was an album track called ‘Chanson D’amour’.
Mine also ❤
This is the third Manhattan Transfer song you have done and you have loved them all. Maybe if you do a few more, you will remember them. Try Boy from New York City, Chanson D'Amour, Trickle Tridkle,, Twilight Zone... there are so many good ones.
Oh .yeah !..it's been forty years, since I first Heard that crazy song, and as you mentioned, also, the Amazing, "boy from New-York city".. 'it had just drove me crazy, by the time..👋 among others.. took my kick !..🕺💃
I have an entire Pandora station for Manhatten Transfer. I sing this song in the truck at full volume! Listen to Java Jive as well.
Thanks for playing The Transfer.. Jazz vocalist.. Doo Wop.. They were great.. Alan died last year.. Saw them in the '70s.... Lambert Hendricks Ross the original jazz vocalist group in the early' 60s
Absolutely love MT - got to see them in concert and to meet them afterward. Very warm, special people. Sorry to have lost the bass voice, Tim Hauser, in 2014. I love "Java Jive."
One of my favorite groups of all time. They are mainly a jazz group but had a period of doing pop music as well. "Birdland" is one of their best "Rays Rockhouse" and an a Capella great, " A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square"
I was going to suggest this song today, thank you to whoever beat me to it!
I have loved this song since I was a little child. It always makes me cry. Praise the Lord. The Giver and The Gift. Believe it or not all the singers in this group are white. They sing with the soul of the beautiful black gospel singers. THIS is their biggest hit.
I know Manhattan Transfer and I really like this. Thanks for the reaction.
One of the greatest vocal groups of all time. They were Take 6 before Take 6.
I love The Manhattan Transfer and this is one of my favorites. A Nightingale Sang is Berkeley Square is a great one. You probably know The Boy From New York City and Java Jive, but if not, they are both worth a listen.
I've always loved this song!!
Great jazz singers! This may be my favorite of theirs, but Tuxedo Junction is great, too, if you like swing.
This was a big hit when I was a kid...
When I was looking for the backing track when I got older,I could never find it..
I assumed it was the Pointer sisters who were also having hits at that time...
They are very talented. They have been around for years and tour all over. I do know this song and have always loved it. It would be great on the other channel.
already done sis. 👍
Man, you folks are requesting so many of my faves. The double album you pulled this from is another where the cd's are about worn out. Saw them in concert, another notch on my bucket list. Awesome acapella jazz! There have been many songs that I couldn't wait to see you react to, this one was def one.
Wow! Totally awesome 👍 I love it! 💚 I know a few songs by Manhattan Transfer but I've never heard this one 🤔 they deserve a standing ovation 🤗did I hear playlist? Smart choice Mr. Wonderful 😀 I think there's a song they sing called "Kiss and Say Goodbye" that one is pretty good too 👍💚
Before Take 6 took off, there was Manhatten Transfer. Janis Siegel sings a lot of the leads in the group! She's awesome!
This is actually the second song by Manhattan Transfer that you have done. I requested one last year.....A Nightengale sang in Barkley Square......I think it was the end of November...
Love this group!
My dad had the this record when I was a kid (he still has it) and wore this song out.
We did this song in my college choir - - not as good as this, mind you. My best friend LOVES this group. I like them and recognize their harmonic talents, but not as enamored as he is.
Another one I haven't heard in ages. Thanks again.
They are masters of a style called Vocalese
How about Edwin Hawkins Singers. Oh Happy Day.. . One with Melanie called Candles in the Rain
I have had MT greatest hits in my car for 3 years now. LOVE Operator, Tuxedo Junction, Ray's Rockhouse and Soul Food to Go. And Route 66, heck, I love them all
Also, Twilight Zone, and Boy From New York City
"Twilight Tone".
@@Umptyscope the song is titled Twilight Zone. The lyric is twilight tone. On the album cover it was labeled Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone. I know this band well. Please dont attempt to correct me.
Jeepers, okay.
Know them well. Saw them in concert. Rockin'!
You would also really like a song by jazz group The Yellowjackets, specifically from their SHADES album titled "Revelation" with the noted Perri Sisters doing vocals. You can find live versions and a lot of covers, but, please, try the album version first. You will not be disappointed - at all.
Stand on the Word by Celestial Choir/Joubert Singers. A Walter Gibbons favorite.
The boy from New York City was a very popular one. You should check it out. My mom loved this group & she introduced me to them. So when I hear songs of theirs it takes me back. I lost my mom when she was 46 years old. I was 22 when she past. She loved music. All kinds. So I got my love for music through her. My best friend. Miss you Mom. But I loved your reaction to this song. This is probably my favorite song of theirs. You should react to Ronnie Milsap’s song called Jesus is your ticket to heaven. It’s really really good. An upbeat tune.
Good pick, you will love Boy from New York City
My condolences on your loss.
Don't Let Go: Manhattan Transfer
Tuxedo Junction: Manhattan Transfer
One of my favorites by TMT. Try Ray's Rockhouse, Soul Food To Go, and The Boy from New York City.
You should do their version of "Mystery." Anita Baker did it was well, but I like their version better.
Mystery is a standout. So noir and lush. Derlicous
Have always loved this song. Still have the 45.
Wow! Unbelievable that you did a review on Manhattan Transfer. They were great but they didnt last.
I love Manhattan Transfer, but I would love for you to play a gospel family who went over to secular music, but didn't forget their gospel roots in "The Staple Singers"
Birdland is a classic, and Twilight Zone
Soulfood to go
Agree 100%. The whole "Brasil" album is SPECTACULAR.
That white girl could sang

S.O.S.:Manhattan Transfer
Do yourself a favor and try and catch them live. Fabulous!!!! Java Jive is a great one of theirs to react to.
Great gospel rocker !!!
I don’t like much white gospel music but this is an exception and one of my favorites, along with The Happy Goodmans’ ‘Looking For A City’ (which must be seen in concert footage so you don’t miss the comedy), but for Manhattan Transfer overall I think their masterpiece is ‘Chanson D’amour’.
Birdland: Manhattan Transfer
A member of The Manhatten Transfer was from Troy NY a city near me. His first name was Tim (can't remember his last name). He was the bald man. He passed away a few years ago. Never met him.
This is an old song. You can search you tube and find the original.
Listen to 'Don't let go' it's fab.
My other favorite song of theirs that I like is, “Sweet Talking Guy”. It’s a cover, but love their version. It’s from the same album.
If you like this one, do a reaction to their version of "Birdland".
Oh, good lord. I've seen them at least 9 times, and have met every one. I actually had lunch with Janice Siegel. And her son Gabriel. They are amazing!
First time For me..good one.....4 white singers,,2 guys 2 girls..1980...There is a live version on you tube
Alan Paul
Janis Siegel
Cheryl Bentyne
Tim Hauser
The Snowfall song from last Christmas is The Manhattan Transfer.
I like Boy from NYC! This was just ok
Tuxedo Junction
Java Jive is another good one by Manhattan Transfer
Hey Ty, since you're asking what they look like, here's a video of them performing this song Operator live in 1980. ruclips.net/video/WEAtDmTbpu4/видео.html
If the curiosity is about whether they're white, the answer is yes: Four white singers, two men, two women.
I remember them well...
they are white as rice
Please can you do Rhythm of the offbeat of avenues. Same group
Bro, you have to hear spice of life by MT.
If you liked this, you should try Devil Doll - Lord's Prayer
Saw the Manhattan Transfer live. Four of the most talented and exciting performers in the music industry. So happy you loved this song. The vocal styling of "Birdland" is awesome:
