When i was play today on mine Ryzen 7500f, rx 7700 xt in late game when stacks two waves, about 200 units on screen and all spells fps goes ~30fps 😲😂 but PC utilization was maybe about 50% and both CPU and GPU didnt hit 50% of power usage. Nice optimization.
Regarding the picture you showed of the game that looks different If you look at the back of the physical cases of the games where they ''show'' the game, you'll see that there are quite some differences too with the actual game that launched, it's not all about AI
has the classic mode always been a thing? wouldn't mind seeing a round of that, even tho i believe undead might be the strongest in an automated battle
hey, i realized they reused w2 music for hearthstone. when loading into battlegrounds you hear the song we heard. i wonder if there are others, i never played wc2 yeah there's another like 30 seconds after the first, reused as combat music in battlegrounds. i always thought hearthstone music was cool, now i'm learning it's a hundred years old lol

No need. You have 3 possible starting positions, top, middle, bottom. You start by building a mine as soon as possible wherever you are. If you're top, build troops only first, and keep 100 gold before the beginning of your wave (when your clock reaches 0) to be able to build a hero for second wave. If you're middle, same exact thing as top. If you're bottom, you wait until you get 500 gold and build a hero and then only you add 1 troop first wave (the timing is very precise, click hero as soon as you reach 500, you will have between 6 and 10 seconds to choose it). A hero takes 30 seconds to be built. It takes around 45 seconds to go one tier up and unlock new units. The only valid reasons I see to rush tier 2 (as soon as 3rd wave) is when you have druid of the claw (which allows a 20% damage boost to all your army with Roar), or when your opponent also rushes tiers. Usually, the second goldmine can be built as soon as you down the opponents' tower. But you can also invest on a goldmine sooner if you beat very easily your direct opponent wave, and damage the next one (helping your teammates by snowball effect, since their wave will be easier, etc.) That's it. You don't have to know a lot more to play, especially if you begin by random to familiarise yourself, and then play draft once you know the units and their effects 😉
To all the people saying remasters are AI generated: it's actually impossible to consistently generate so many images without losing original style and encountering weird image generation errors. Most probably, these sprites are hand-drawn.

What is that shield passive icon the knight has? I dont remember knights having anything like that
funny enough it's not a shield effect, it's called sundering blades and it increases each knight's damage by 10 against medium armored units
