Jesus warns his disciples, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them. But not so with you. Instead, whoever would be greatest among you must become your servant." Jesus never intended for his followers to build his kingdom from the top down by political coercion. Jesus demonstrates by example that his kingdom is to be built from the ground up by serving and loving the lost.
Expediency has made me and my adult children take virtually all political, community and social topics off the table with some of my family, but this makes those relationships very superficial. It feels terrible and makes me overthink every interaction.
My brother is very pro-trump, most of the rest of us think he's a danger to democracy. But we have decided that family is more important than political ideology, so we don't talk about politics. And if someone tries to start, the rest of us don't engage

He's no danger. He had 4 years to get rid of democracy and he couldn't do. Democracy is older than Trump and it will outlast him. Besides, if Trump's all that's needed to destroy it, then it was never really worth preserving in the first place.

I'd be curious if Curtis Chang would be willing to address how his calls for not allowing religious exemptions for the COVID vaccine or that vaccine hesitancy was a "spiritual problem" was not exactly a masterclass in "responding with grace when political temperatures rise"?
Have heard many times: "I don't see how anyone can be a Christian and vote Democrat." Well, I am and I do. And the statement startles and hurts. I know many, many Christians who are voting trump but I don't question their Christianity. But if I catch myself thinking "I don't see how you as a Christian can vote trump" , I know I need to cool it!
