    I guess I have the wrong fingertips. I have been practicing for one year and I have legitimate calluses, and cut my nails as far back as possible, and I still can’t fingertip the cords, without leaving gaps. As for my reach, I have small hands and I have trouble getting the first and second string to ring clear because my handSqueezes the first string during most cards. I have trouble changing cards because I lose grip of the back of the neck when I press my thumb onto the middle of the back of the neck. Nothing holds onto the neck during chord changes when my fingers are all up in the air.

    I get that you want to leave space between the neck and your hand butI don't use a strap and it helps to support the neck if I rest it on the hand between the thumb and first finger. How wrong is this?

    • @Ukelikethepros
      @Ukelikethepros  7 лет назад +4

      Stephen, this is a great question. Even if you don't use a strap you want to use the forearm/elbow of your strumming arm to hold the ukulele. By resting the ukulele in between your thumb and first finger, at least for me limits the range and dexterity I have when playing chords or notes. It also limits my fluidity as I'm moving up and down the ukulele neck. Hope this helps.
