I think that many of the scenes in "The Artist" (2011) were lifted from both silents & classic films. "Hugo" (2011) should have won both Best Director & Picture that year. It was also in the running for both. (If not director, they could have at least given it, "Best Picture"). Personally, I find it a far superior film. Have you seen it?
Indeed, saw it in the theater in 2D and 3D then bought the Blu-ray.
The scene with the coat was taken from an old Mary Pickford silent film.
