"Take On Mead" - Algal The Bard
Nice!😂
A lake of Mead, even.
@@FortitudineVincimus Nicely done! 🤌
You come, hither! 😅
🍻
I have no idea why RUclips recommended this video to me, but grateful to the medieval algorithm that made listening to this possible. Going to check out more of this channel
This got recommended to me below a bunch of videos about autism 😂
Same lol but way awesome 😎
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@stephr5914 waat lol no way lol 🤦😂
This is what the internet is for.
Marvelous.
Now you have make a video where you're trapped in a tapestry.
Thanks 🙏
Now my brain will be so unhappy until this happens. Thanks..😂
It all started with the lady weaving the tapestry and falling in love with this brave knight. He felt her love, and was able to take her into the woven canvas...but a jealous knight (probably French), started to chase them through the battlefield...she was able to escape because her brave bold true love made her slip through the warp...she was desperate, and stabbed the evil knight with her scissor...but before the whole tapestry was unwoven, the knight was able to escape, shocking the nuns and finally kissing on the lips his beloved dame...
@@annalisalundberg4561: Some really cool fanfic there!
@@resourcedragon thanks! I just let my imagination (and some mental images of the Bayeux tapestry) run wild 😁
Ah. I assume you are the one of the younglings. Actually, internet was made for porn :D
Bardcore in the hands of a very talented artist is ridiculously fun 😄
ok so now someone needs to remake the original video with those medieval drawings
Yea verily, well spoken.
Sanctioned 😊
I was thinking the same thing.
Those 2D drawing on a paper made out of animal hide would be hilarious 😂
Something reminiscent of the Bayeux Tapestry would be nice
I remember hearing this song live for the first time. It was at the gig in Constantinople back in 1139. 😅
I saw you there! Front row bench in that tavern!
But now it’s Istanbul…
Why they changed it, I can’t say. People just liked it better that way.
@@peridotperson fuck it
@@rutankwendaris9970 If only more people got this
Never thought I could like this song better!!
Thanks, weird RUclips algorithm! ❤
IKR! I came in ready to roast this and got won over instead.
Right??!
It sounds like THIS was the way it was meant to be! (And I really loved the original.) BRAVO!
Taketh on thee
Omg I love you
Lmao 🤣 ❤❤❤
Genius😂❤
11/10
😂 🤣 😂 🤣
What is this magical, whimsical journey through time that I have stumbled upon!!! Verily, it is good!
@@guardianofthemoon 😂😂😂😂😂
I really like the change in the rhythmic structure of the song. It added an aspiration to it that is more inherent to instrumental music. Now it doesn't sound like a cover, but an original composition. Amazing as always!
Classical flutist and recorderist here. This is very outstanding. The way the bard should play it. Thank you for your talent☺️
I enjoyed your original music video for this sir. The beautiful young bar wench on her mead break, reading and falling in love with the young squire in the graphic parchment of his heroic quest she was reading. The way she fell into the parchment and was able to dance with him was stunning, and that ending!👍😂 Hopefully there will be those reading this comment who will have an 'A-Ha' moment!😎Brilliant work as usual Algal the Bard! Thank you.
😂😂👍
I love that the melodies are little less original and much more adapted to the style than most similar covers do. Really like it. It's something you can put on an RPG background playlist and people won't notice it until half way through.
Indeed
true. it has the same effect as Robo's theme from Chrono Trigger.
Wind blowing in the hair! Solid fun production!
Literally 30ºC inside the tavern. I had to open doors and windows.
Didn't realize I needed this till it showed up in my feed randomly, love it!
One of the great one hit wonders of the 80s...the 1180s.
A-Ha had many hits in Europe. Not just a one hit wonder
You obviously have not lived in the 80s if you think A-ha was a one-hit wonder band
The music changes are so well done that the song seems just the original. It's incredible how well the style sits in this song. Another amazing job, Algal, you're F*CKING AWESOME!!
Your covers are some of my favorites to play during DnD sessions I dm and this is one of my favorite songs. Sir, you’ve done me a great service :)
These covers take so much more imagination than the average one-instrument-playing-the-original type
To be fair this is not a cover but a re-arrangement
From a musician: Just no.
All they played is in the original version
This is just a different arrangement. What you just said is plain nonsensical cause it's the same, and it's also insulting to the original composer.
I'm sure that's not what these gentleman wanted to inspire in anyone. They're doing this because they love this music, you're putting it down
@@charliebluechaos4963 touch grass, im a musician too. What I’m saying is that if I had uploaded just an average old drum cover of the original song, it wouldn’t have taken nearly as much effort as this full-instrumental reimagining of the song. Why are you so bitter? Jesus, man…
@Kekistani_Insurgent implying the original musicians are less imaginative than someone doing the exact same is sweet somehow?
So rude.
@@charliebluechaos4963 good lord, that’s obviously not what I meant. Why are you like this?
This made me absolutely giddy. 😊 I recently showed my husband the music video of the original Take on Me. It’s one of my favorite music videos. This is a fantastic spin on it.
Did your husband like the original?
He did! It’s a good song and video.
@@PokemonLoverHeather Glad to hear. It's an 80's classic ^^
Sounds like the theme of a light-hearted fantasy anime
In short, fantasy slice of life.
I mean the original music video did have the heroine entering a black and white comic book world...
This could feature in the next season of Legend of Vox Machina...Imaging Scanlon blasting this in a battle with dragons....
@@kereymckenna4611 Oh my lord. The original music video is an Otome Isekai.
@@SciFiGuy72 I had never heard of that show, I'll check it out
Could listen to that all day.
This guy just keeps cranking out bangers.
Fico imaginando se de fato algum bardo tivesse rodado isso na idade média numa fogueira... Seria fascinante
Heard Merry and Pippin wrote this song
Please, this was a Bilbo Baggins original, first previewed at his 77th Birthday
written whilst they smoked pipeweed

Ok, now THIS I LIKE! A true classic redone with STYLE, IMAGINATION and CREATIVITY!
This is one my favorite songs ever so this version made me smile so much!
Great work! ❤
The melody really suck you in to enjoy it while me having a cup coffee in the night
I... I didn't know that I needed this in my life. This is fantastic.
Epic wind in the hair
I didn't realize how well this instrument combination went together. Guess there's a reason it's a combo!
Ah.. Algal.. as sweet and refreshing as a breeze in summer.. achingly beautiful.. both the song.. and you, handsome lad💜💙xxx
A catching masterpice. TY
I like it and share it.
Once again a precious historical original of a popular tune rediscovered! Well done - brilliant musical archeology 😉
I love the fake wind blowing your hair in some of the cuts.
I think that may be a fan blowing up
Maestro, this melody seems to be created for such a performance) Is better than the original, which I dearly love.
Geez never realized how great this song sounds as a tavern ballad!
Now have I fed the algorithm with a thumbs up, importuned my kith and kin to lend their ears and required that my scribe enter this onto three playlists.
Fabulous ❤️🔥 Thanks, YT algorithm 😃
Huge respect to your Bardcore songs, all real instruments and you can definitely hear it. Plus the effort you put into the videos makes such a huge difference to the vibe also!
Definitely will dance at the tavern with the lady there 🎵🎶💃
My kids are a big fan of Algal. We all are. So delighted to hear a new tune. Thanks mate!
That was fantastic, it took to tavern style better than most covers, love it! And really happy to see that you are still diving into tavern covers, I came across some ones from many years ago, and hoped it wasn’t a phase.
The amount of takes, and the editing needed to make this happen -- Awesome! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece!
2024 y todavía pegado al Bardcore. Un abrazo y felicidades por otro excelente cover.
a bar fight stars

1:05 chills, bravo
Vas de paseo por el mercado medieval y oyes esa rolita... Cool !!!!
Verdade!!!🤩😂😂😂😂
Never have I clicked a video so fast.
This is so fun!
Truly love the bards renditions. Was just thinking he should play the greatest song ever and lo and behold...
This was awesome!
Que maravilla ❤ suena como si estuvieras viviendo en el edad Media..sois geniales ❤️😘🇪🇸
Sim!!!😃🎶❤👏👏
Algal The Bard is hand down the best musician nowadays
Tus covers siempre me hacen muy feliz :D muchas gracias, eres increible!!!!
Beside the obvious change from 4/4 to 2/2 this is the most accurate cover I've ever heard. I Absolutely love your ear for detail :) Thank you for this :)
Oh _that's_ what it was! I have minimal musical training (or talent, lol), but I could tell _something_ was different from the 1980s version. Thank you!
the wind blowing through his hair is magical
I'm getting Legend of Zelda vibes from this!
No one:
Absolutely no one:
This guy: "TAKE ON ME FROM THE 14th CENTURY IT IS!"
I was slightly disappointed, initially, that there were no vocals, but tbh this slaps and I'm no longer disappointed
Just stumbled upon this and I love it 🤩 now I’m wandering how some of my favorite songs would sound with this style 😅 (like 99 Luftballons by Nena, or Wind of Change by the Scorpions). I guess I’ll have to check what else you transferred into Tavern music …
I love this. It reminds me of old Irish music
As usual it's really perfect. I love what you're doing and can't get enough.
I live in France near spain. Have you considered participating in medieval festivals ?
Now, any time someone does the dance in medieval/Renaissance garb (or Dark Souls/Elden Ring apparel), it has to be THIS version. :P
I love this rendition so much I just watched it 4 times in a row! I actually prefer this to the original and that's saying something because this was one of my favorite songs of the 80's. You earned a new subscriber. I play ukulele, NAF and the Tin Whistle. I was wondering which key is the whistle you were using for this video? It looks to me to be either a high A or mezzo G whistle. Do you offer tabs for the whistle section you play here on your Patreon page?
If you listen to this at half speed, you get a pretty good idea what it sounds like in my head when I'm drunk
This... wow, it actually sounds pretty great at half speed.
That bard goes on my king's court list for the King himself engoj on hmthe private parties of his
Put on 0.75 speed, and you've got yourself an RPG map theme :p
Please make this into a loop so I can do stuff all day to it on headphones/earbuds!!!
Finally a new video and a good one awesome
Can you make a cover of dont stop believing from journey that would be epic
yes yes yes! a new Algal! goood weeekend!
No one could understand the words anyway 😂😂 ❤❤❤❤
I swear algal is a time traveler he looks like he could genuinely be a bard from medieval times
I love how well this was adapted!
Awesome! Now you are ready to kill Smaug!
Amazing cover, what was the lead line a certain type of recorder? Also, what the hell is spiderman dance???
The new generations need certain references to recognize the song: ruclips.net/video/iDXIa8ivFEc/видео.htmlsi=ivI5KPAS60GA8h8x
@@AlgaltheBard Yeesh, but fair lol. Great cover!
I did not know how much I needed this until RUclips suggested it 💯.
Marvelous! Thanks! 💕
Man, this one reminds me of Feuerschwanz's cover of AVICII's "Hey Brother". For some reason.
Puede uno decir que eres todo un bárdbaro.
A gem.
Que buena version, fantastica
Me an the boys, 'eard dis at the Ol' barb n Crow last eve, boy sure hits de drum 'ard don't 'e? Ty Algal!!!!
Yes! This was amazing! One of your best! Keep up the good work! Keep on bardin!
Song request: Any song by Gamma ray.
Awesome work Algal, I love it! That took a lot of work. Imagine busting this out circa 800A.D. for royalty. Would you get a modern foot tapping and head nodding followed by a standing applause or drawn and quartered? We'll never know, but as the famous historians Bill and Ted wisely said, "Be Excellent eachother" .
First comment 😎 love listening to your songs while I play Atlas 😁
Verily burden thyself upon my person
Genius.
Your music is still so much richer than suno Ai bro 😂
OK now I have time to make a comment that actually says something- I love this version of this song, I love how energetic it is and how you changed the entire feel of the song and the melodic structure, but it’s still very recognizable as a cover.
Great video! Good to see you again :)
Now ah need a nice pint of ale mate....
Wow.
Thanks for that. Now I can't get this rendition out of my head. Every time I try to remember the original, this one takes over. Well played sir!
