Instruments: Lute-guitar, viola da gamba, flabiol, irish bouzouki, low whistle, tin whistle, drums.
you know, you hear modern music like this on period instruments and wonder how many banger songs must have existed back then that were never recorded on sheet music that have been lost the sands of history.
It would be interesting to see what the best musicians of those generations were actually playing.
Wonder if they had an equivalent to Stairway
Was just thinking that!
@@ianhowlett4682 werent there restrictions by the church as to what notes could be played ect ?
@@juki6377 most defs but of course most dont care
This translates really well to these instruments. I wonder what kind of emotions would have been evoked had this been first played to an actual medieval crowd.
They couldn’t handle it. Even baroque was too much for some folks when it was introduced.
Sorrow and Triumph, "a story of a long gruesome war coming to it's final days, our men rallied what remained of their meager strength; we sallied out to meet them in the field for the final time. Our blades clashed, amidst all our fields turned black by the torch and our people are lost to famine, before the seasonal frost; We fought to the last man. Hurried in the final count of the last battle, the day lingered to dusk till dawn rose on the Moore; twilight bewitching the Autum trees. Frost covered the trodden ground. The battle won! Our enemies fleeing on horseback! Our people live.". I believe this would be a fitting story for the song to tell. What say you?
@@donovanbrand8187 yes, very good
note sure the church would have allow all overtone , some part sound heretic xD
@@shaezbreizh86 Burn the Heretic, Kill the Mutant, Purge the Unclean!
I would definitely buy tickets if this guy had a show
Same
Me too
Seeing as how he's a one man show, how would that work? LOL Seriously, tho, I'd be in line with you!✌😺
@@PhoenixLyon He could choose an instrument to play online for each music and play the others on screen behind him
@@threerangers7144 you'd be sitting watching him play the song multiple times until he plays the melodies
i'm going to use this as the combat music for my dnd campaign
This is what a Level 20 Bard sounds like. Bardic inspiration for all!
And rotten eggs is how a level 1 bard smells like.
Idk why but the nonchalant expression while single-handedly delivering the greatest bardcore performance I've ever seen really takes the cake.
I have always admired multi instrument musicians. I cant even whistle properly...:)
No, they are just brothers, like Jonas or The Jacksons
*No one* can whistle properly. If I were dictator I would outlaw whistling.
That said, this is particularly impressive multi instrumental playing. Generally all but one instrument will be played with headphones on.
I can play the saxophone, mallet percussion, the piano, and the guitar (the last two not as well). I can barely whistle. From personal experience once you learn one instrument it is a lot easier to learn other instruments. Also learning to read treble clef or bass clef (depending on what instrument you want to learn) will help you a lot.
I do really like the 80s style of the final countdown, and I clicked on this just to see what it would be like. And wow, I’m speechless. This sounds so good!
1580s
The song is based on an old medevial theme. Whats why. Same for procol harum ou some deep purple song. All of if those 70 band have good trained keybordiste with a reel classical music background.
The siege engines are prepared, m'lord. We await your royal command.
Very well. I do hereby give the order to commence with...
⚔️The Final Countdown ⚔️
Soldier: *stabs the lord in the back *
Lord: GAH! WHAT TREACHERY IS THIS!?!
Soldier: It's the king's law, m'lord. Puns are punishable by immediate beatings and/or death.
Lord: Ah. Yes. Forgot about that. Well, carry on then.
mmm yeah. we've got *Infinite* Trebuchets.
This video would look even better with some galloping cavalry!
Bardcore was invented in Europe, and now bardcore has mastered Europe. The circle is complete
THE CIRCLE IS COMPLETE
This song might have been meant to be played this way
Europe didn't know it when they wrote it, but now I'm pretty sure it was 😜
their name makes so much more sense now
This is one of the incredible number of songs out there that are absolutely ruined by the lyrics.
@@emersonkluge343 why?
Indeed, it was.
this is amazing, most medieval style/bardcore songs are done in a computer and while there's nothing wrong with that it's so awesome to see someone doing the craft with actual acoustic instruments! and the fact that you can play aLL the instruments as well is just an extra bonus lol, good job!
This is perhaps the most beautiful rendition of the song that I've heard
Sometimes I wish I had a time machine to travel to medieval times and show this music to people to see their reaction, it would be amazing
Maybe they would call you a Witcher or devil and you‘ll end up burned to the ground ✌️😬
It would be awesome to show them this, but then you'd probably be burned at the stake for witchcraft ;-)
Yeah
Or they would want the creator of the video to be brought to be burned
@@susanandrews2294 Yeah, I doubt it. The people would either enjoy it or find it annoying and force you to stop playing and move on.
Out of all of the Bardcore channels that popped up this year you are the best. Thanks for reminding me that 2020 wasn’t all bad.
For instrumentals, this guy. For vocals, definitely Hildebrand
2020 ain’t that bad man, 2021 will be worse
Sir, it behoveth me to correct thee: this good bard made his first mediaeval cover *three years ago*.
It wasn't all bad, but it definitely was all bard.
I think this guy was the OG, he started a few years back
I'm 69 years old I LOVE this VERSION of this song! I'm old school and I enjoy hearing different RENDITIONS of CLASSIC songs!
Love this song, used to play it 5mins till close every time I closed as a manager
Your people were lucky to have you as a manager
Hastings used to play Happy Trails as a last minute warning to people still shopping.
My boss played this song every day for his last 100 days before retiring. Epic.
@@Eyes0penNoFear damn, that's sick.
If u were the manager of a tavern, this could be the soundtrack. 😉
I enjoyed this so much that I rewatched it as many times as henry the 8th remarried.
@@aungkhant478 rookie numbers 😉🍀🖖
Ahh...one of my favorite 1380's songs. I am forever an 80's maiden and hath the high hair to prove it
Same here, but have much less of it.
This song was born to have been medieval. In fact it seems as if the original was the cover. Best Cover Ever. Masterpiece.
10th of August 1628, these guys were playing this song in Stockholm Harbour. Centuries later, the Swedish band Europe decided to cover this historic song.
Oooo, I see what you did there.
😂😂😂
I actually came here because I was disappointed in another rendition of this song on a different bardcore channel. THIS was what I hoped to hear the first time! You rock 🤘🏽😁
Kinda captures the feeling of getting through this year, not gonna lie.
And this year too!
@@Ocker3And Especially this year too!!
The epitome of multi-talented!!! He is WONDERFUL!!!
Aaaaaaand our new D&D night soundtrack.
This is way better than the original, especially the solo part. The original solo sounds like a last minute collage more or less fitted into place but Algal's solo is this piece's solo. Bravo Algal. You are much talented, how fortunate we are to be able to listen to your music.

RUclips rewind is the true final boss.
Wow just wow
I’ve watch this so many times. I just love it. It’s the perfect adaption. Algal the Bard…you medievally rock hard!
I saw this band of minstrels back in 1051.
Best 2 pieces of Electrum I ever spent!
You don't need a band dude! You ARE the band!! Nice Renaissance touch...
It was used in the netflix series "1670"
That nostalgia...
Sometimes covering something in a very different style makes it even more interesting and you certainly did a great job!
I used to play recorder from age 6 to 16 and this was the very first song I figured out myself and played on recorder... this brings back so many memories... you've found yourself a new subscriber mate :)
He deserves an award. Love the rendering of The Final Countdown in medieval sound! Such a talent!!!! Please do more of these songs!!!
Imagine taking this song back. We might think that it would be a shock to our ancestors but, played like this you'd think you were at some sort of wild medieval party. Awesome job!
This is number one on my executioner’s playlist
Your channel is the soundtrack for all of my Pathfinder games from now and this is the boss music
Thou shall hear thy new melody at dawn morrow in my bath mirror as I prepare for battle....or work.
Why can't I like this more than once?
He was the most sought after bard, in all the land!
Best solo concert ever !!!
Really want hear song bonjovi - its my life with his version
Love it! Would love to hear even more 80’s tunes. Perhaps something like “You’re the best” from the Karate Kid?
Yeeesssssssssss!!!!!!!
Maaaaan. Wouldn't that be something! 😯
If the channel times it properly to release with a Cobrai Kai video then they can ride that wave to higher views
Please don't do anything from Karate Kid.
😎
🇧🇷 Como gosto dessa melodia medieval.
Saudações do Brasil!!
You not only use and play instruments from that time but also wear the clothes from that time, you're amazing
Whoa, so many commonly misspelled words spelled properly. Great commenting.
Is it weird that this still gets me hyped up?
This makes me so happy. Finding this channel was one of the highlights of the year, thanks.
The only possible element I can think of to enhance this are Celtic dancers. Bravo!
This guy's feelin it!
Best edition of this song!
If I ever found myself transported back to the middle ages, I would search desparately for Algal the Bard, just to hear some rock'n'roll music again !
This about to be the music for the first boss fight of my next D&D campaign.
me too
A running against time battle is a must!
That drum, by far is the most authentic looking medieval instrument.
Il remember when they played this on the night of December 31 999 for the countdown to the new millennium. Great memories.
It was foretold in centuries past, that the greatest song from a band (doth named after the great continent) was destined for a Bard’s renown ensemble… where The Countdown is Final.
I don't know why, but played this way it's giving me big Sergio Leone's vibes... Great Job, Enjoy your Winter Holidays!💫
it's the percussions playing the 'galloping horse' beat
There are two types of people in this world my friend, those who listen to hardcore, and those who dig.....you dig. 😁
... Great, now I wanna hear it in the style of Ennio Morricone (the guy who did much of the music for Sergio Leone's spaghetti Westerns). =)
This will be a hit at the Renaissance Fair.
If this guy was playing at a medieval Fayre I could stand and watch him all day. I love this music
I Saw this bards five hundred years ago in a Northumberland Old Tavern. The given a magnificent spectacle.
You had my curiosity, now you have my subscription.
Naquela época teriam orgulho de tão bom que ficou passando é presente junto parabéns pelo trabalho falo do Brasil
I've been a big fan of Europe for years! I love this version of The Final Countdown! Nice one!!
Medieval Europe?
When the bard is the last survivor standing...!
Very well done! ❤️
This Bardcore take on this song is amazing
Just one word: Spectacular
_Tfw when this song plays during your dnd game:_ Why do I here boss music?
Bard starts maniacally laughing.
Was seriously thinking the same thing.
That's the plan

This is my favorite version of this song.
Priceless… just priceless… I think I’ve watched over a 1000 hours of your videos during the past couple of month!!
I love the visual nods to the classic music video as well.
I'm so surprised it sounds this good in medieval style!
Final Count down, Medieval version amazing, keep it up...greetings from Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Absolutely love your music! Amazing use of Medieval instruments! Standing ovation!
this transposition of the song with medieval musical accompaniment has my full sympathy. But to be even more enthusiastic, I lack the voice or voices, the words. Without them, these pleasant little fantasies will never gain momentum.
This version makes it feel campy and adventuresque. Blasting the original on huge speakers after emerging from a time vessel would be the most pimpenest, epicest, manly shit you could do pretty much.
Yes
This dude is awesome.
Quando você descobre um ótimo canal de música o som de Quest concluída do The Witcher vem a minha mente. Ótimo trabalho!
Dude that's one of my favorite songs and you kicked ass!!!!!
This is one of the things that come out of living during a pandemic. Thanks!
Awesome!! I can barely clap my own hands in rhythm let alone play an instrument let alone play like 5!! Wow!!
This is absolutely ridiculous but also the coolest thing I've seen and heard in 2020
Awesomely cool. This is why I always wanted to be a bard when I played Dungeon and Dragons.
At first glance I was like no way and after watching I am like NO WAY!
Great job!
Wonderful, all compositions.
I would love to see some songs in medieval, not just the music, but the lyrics as well. Languages have changed a lot, so, I think it would be fun.

Best Bardcore musician on RUclips, in my opinion.
Another masterpiece my dad is gonna be very glad to hear this! Keep it coming I’m showing everyone I know man I love your hard work and dedication I’m sure it takes a lot :) love the costumes
gonna grab some Met to enjoy this song to the fullest, when the new year 2023 breaks down.
Milord, thy music doth soothe even this savage beast. Now, if thou could'st find it in thine heart of hearts to play "That Sweet Bird Which Is Free" by Lynrd of Skynrd, then all should be well in mine kingdom. 😉
One doth agree; thou hast put forward a most honourable suggestion!

Verily I doth agree lads

Almost like a spaghetti western. Love it!
Hope you're Christmas is as badass as this movement of sound.

I love this, it sounds almost like a western movie soundtack but at the same time celtic!
I absolutely LOVED the arrangement!
This is going on my D&D tavern songs playlist.
