Nice video I made my Fender Stratocaster dream guitar I have used all Seymour Duncan pickup's in the bridge I put in the Seymour Duncan David Gilmour SSL-5 and in the middle i put in the Jimi Hendrix for the 60's tone and in the neck i put in the Seymour Duncan SSL-1 for the 50's. tone's.
The difference is extremely subtle and I prefer the clarity of the factory pickups. However, comparing pickup sounds is almost pointless as the pickup might sound better in this amp-guitar-player combination compared to a different amp-guitar-player combination. Once you add distortion, EQ, effects and a modeler, the subtle differences are no longer discernible. Nice playing, by the way.
I have a truly shitty soundcard in my laptop, but I kept scrolling up when I heard the pickups I preferred even though the tone was fighting through 45years of loud playing, tinitus, and rock concerts plus the sound card, and the pickups were always Jimi's. Dig.
Very nice comparison and medley. I always like hearing other people play Little Wing and Wind Cries Mary. I might have to put these pups in my squier 40th anny vintage strat
Buenas noches.
That's a fairly muffled sound as is, but the SD Hendrix set has much less highs. Wouldn't be surprised that SD thought adding more winds to a pickup was an improvement. Not needed by Hendrix on stage anyway. The long coil cables rock players used back then were so high capacitance that the pickup resonance peak was down in the 2kHz range. With the stock ~2.3H Fender Strat pickups, he could then get 4kHz+ sparkle in the studio with his short low C cable.
You forgot about the fact that Jimmi Hendrix literally was best friends with the founder of Seymour Duncan, and he (the founder) hand wound all of Jimmi's pickups. Which help start the whole Seymour Duncan company. These are a literal reproduction of Jimmi's pickups from the company that manufactured them for Hendrix.
The Duncan's have a bit more twang so if that's a sound you prefer, then that's gonna be your favorite. I preferred the stock set by a hair if only because they were a bit tamer and rounder sounding. Really though, if you separate the listening apart by five minutes, you probably wouldn't be able to pick out which was which.
For the amount of volume and gain your using, the factory fender pickups sound better. Now if your gonna start pushing things up on both fronts, that's where the HDX set will show its stuff. The fender set will just sound shrill comparatively.
In both ways the sound is marvellous but with the signature one is more fuzzy, in a perfect Hendrix style. Love them 😍

Sounds indeed like a dream guitar! 🎸
So cool man ! Keep them coming ! Cheers from Quebec !

My understanding is that the Seymour Duncan pickups were given to Jimi Hendrix but he never used them.
Sounds cool. Beautiful Strat
Nice demo

The change in the sound you get would be much more significant if you install them in a Squire Strat I’d imagine 🎸
@@TakaHondaGuitar For sure, the pickups cost more than the guitar, but I think I’d be a great upgrade

it also makes a big difference what set up you use, strings, guitar gauge, guitar set-up, equipment, amp/pedal settings etc...

ピックアップの品質はもちろん、丁寧すぎるギタープレイに感動した
greatest review ever

They both have a weird honky mid thing going on, but the stock pickups have more clarity which I would of expected the Hendrix pickups to have more of
I vote factory 🤷🏽
I'm hearing slightly more quack out of the Seymour Duncans. But I have to say I think I like the fenders best
Hi, could you please tell me the brand and gauge of strings you use on your guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups?
@@Savior.Greenmount Earnie Ball gauge 10. 🎸
@@TakaHondaGuitar Thank you
I liked Fender pickups more, classic Fender sound and not as dark as Duncan.
i wanted to get em but feel like the stock 65s on the hendrix strat and some eq pedal would sound close enough sigh
At most there will be very subtle differences in pickups of the same type people expect a night and
day difference and its just not going to be there.
Call me Sick but i like the 64er PUs more than the hendrix... this fizziness i can get with an pedal and a Cracked amp too...
Wait, how come Hendrix has signature pickups? He has been dead for almost 60 years now.
You should work on your vibrato :)
