    "Sometimes never knowing,
    other times knowing too much."
    i think Chuck meant that during our journey, we sometimes hit a dead end looking for answers and other times we find out too much about life, in a sense that ignorance is bliss.

    I think what Perennial Quest is about is that life may end, but the journey goes on. His bodily frame may have been defeated already, but his quest endures, and he will reincarnate as trees are reborn in the spring, after the winter. Chuck does exist in a present tense, in some form, pursuing his dreams he always have. Maybe he's here via his legacy. Maybe he's reborn through us, whom he inspires. Life in its mortal sense is just phase one.

    5 years late but I would absolutely adore it if this series came back. Chuck’s lyrics are a playground for my mind I love speculating on what he is communicating. (Of course the music is fantastic as well.)

    I love and I will always love this song, my interpretation for this song is more like how I related to a recent change that I had, that change was moving from Florida to California.. and it was like a huge change for me and the song just talks about everything that happened and kinda prepared me for the change, parts like "no time for mental crutches, the maker has moved on, I will take it raw and be on my way" "for those that stood beside me I'm glad you understand, behind these written words I share my simple plan, to hang on the way that we feel" filtering out the bad that holds us back, take hold of what is true to your hunger" that parts just prepared me for the future and told me that there's nothing else for me to do but just accept reality, I see my best friend and ex girlfriend, and idk there's a lot of interpretations that everyone can make, I can make a lot and out the lyrics into my life(I'm not gonna write them al I don't want to make this a book haha!) and this song has always made me emotional, I love chuck Schuldiner and his music he's my hero, my inspiration my idol and he will always be, the ending just leaves me in tears to know that he's not here with us.. RIP Chuck Schuldiner and nice beard man!

      This is more like it! Surely people don't only want to hear my voice constantly. I want the people who love this content to be involved. Tell you stories, your thoughts, your ideas. Assuming this is infinite then any message is left in the annuls of time for all to read. We don't all have to be philosophers to express ourselves. In fact I would love to take a back seat sometimes and feature fan content, whether it be their personal connection with the world of Chuck and Death or simply anything they want to share. Would you enjoy that? To see the 'other' faces behind the love for this legacy.

    • @myhamithgarcia2455

      DeathinHD DeathinHD yeah, I think involving the fans would give us probably more ideas or reactions of chucks music and what his legacy is doing, people should share personal experiences, sadly I never met him, he found out about his cancer the same year I was born, but I met him in a dream(people don't believe me but who cares) it was like meeting him and idk I just feel close to him through his music, death has played an important role in my life it was like opening my eyes to a new world ,his music changed my life totally and I think the fans should engage more so we can keep his memory alive that's what he deserves, that's what heroes deserve, honor and gratitude for what he has done for us. Please make the next video on without judgement, those lyrics are just so intense I love that song.
      Keep the metal faith alive-Myhamith

    This is probably one of my favourite Death lyrics because of its personal view. You can put this lyric in a lot of different situations, which is why I espacially relate to this song. Thank you for this brilliant video and for reading the comments!

    Great video, IMO the verse "Those that stood beside me I'm glad you understand..." is about those seemingly time-less moments in our life that shape who you are and you should never forget. This is of course my interpretation of the song.
    Here's some suggestions for future videos: Spirit Crusher, Empty Words and Flattening of Emotions.

    Hey there, great videos. Chuck has been one of my biggest influences since Death's Leprosy album. One song I'd like you to do is The Philosopher. It's probably the most controversial lyrics Chuck ever wrote. Great work.

      rparas34 Yes, you're right. But chuck was really clever with those lyrics as well. Fuck, back then he said he wanted to kick Vince Niels ass in an interview because he was a "faggot."
      I use the word "faggot" all the time, don't get me wrong, I'm not offended by it, but today's SJWs would have a flame war hahaha.

  • @DmitriKatsman
    @DmitriKatsman 8 лет назад +6

    "those that stood beside me
    I am glad you understand..."
    Chuck addresses his close friends and family.
    "behind these written words
    i share the simple plan
    To hang on to the way that we feel"
    He shares with them a simple plan to live their life fully and take everything in, cherish the whole spectrum of emotions.

    • @DeathinHD
      @DeathinHD  8 лет назад +2

      Interesting, I think that line could also refer to the commitment of dreams and fighting to make them become a reality.

    • @DmitriKatsman
      @DmitriKatsman 8 лет назад +5

      i think he is specifically talking about human emotions, because in the next verse he says:
      "from rivers of sorrow
      to oceans deep with hope
      i have traveled them"
      after he traveled them, and lived through the whole spectrum of emotions, he is free to follow his dreams and ask soul-felt questions.
      "now there is no turning back,
      the limit, the sky,
      i ask my questions - why? what today?
      when tomorrow?"
      so the point is - don't hide away from negative emotions, don't listen to fairy-tales to soothe yourself, take the good with the bad, and only then you will be free to pursue your dreams, when you are no longer scared of the dark side of life.

    I do not think you´ll read this comment, because the Video is from last year, but anyways:
    6:23, maybe "the maker" is the person itself in the journey of life, creating (making) its own path in the first pathless place... "moved on" underlines the term that says he has no time for weakness. he moves on, leaves the weakness behind, so he is strong.. the next line would match with that. but thats of course only my interpretation
    hope you understand what I want to say (hope you understand my english)
    regards from Germany :)

  • @DmitriKatsman

    no time for mental crutches
    the maker has moved on
    i will take it raw and be on my way
    Reference to religion as a "mental crutch" and God as "the maker". God has forsaken humankind, and now we have to take it raw and make our own path.

    • @DeathinHD
      @DeathinHD  8 лет назад +1

      I never took Chuck as religious though, so do you think this is his outward observation of others?

    • @DmitriKatsman
      @DmitriKatsman 8 лет назад +3

      yes, i think Chuck wasn't a big fan of organized religion and in this verse he basically says you have to follow your own path, don't just follow a book or rules created by somebody else. if you want to find true answers, you have to keep on digging.

    7:00, I think he meant the plan that we all believe in. like you said "we define the life ourselve".we have no 100% definition for life, doesnt matter how hard we would try to figure out, to proof, to experience, to check.... so we "hang on" the theory that we have, and strongly believe in our definition that is simple and easy to follow... and also enjoyable ..(we put our whole life in this theory when you think about it... everyone gives senses, patience and energy in his life, doesnt matter if it makes sense....)
    I like this Interpretation, because it would be philosophic to think about how delivered and helpless we are and how we lie to ourselves to make ourselves happy. we do not want thruth because we would never understand it, so we escape from that problem and distract ourselves with things that make us happy. I think it is clear that there is a lot of pain and suffering too on this journey... also depends on how you react to life.. Maybe chuck had similar thoughts by writing this lyrics... because it would match with the terms before: "filtering out the bad in your life", "hope deep as oceans", "rivers of sorrow..." etc.
    anyone who agrees with this Interpretation?
