Wowww that was beautiful. “I would’ve gone to seminary for a thousand years to be a priest for a day.” Got me right in tbe feels. Thank you God for our holy priests.
Thank you, Father. It's encouraging to see new blood rising up in the Church. I've felt a very strong pull to reignite my faith recently. The idea of my own vocation has crossed my mind for the first time in my life. Please pray for me while I discern. I pray that the Church continues to heal, and in thanksgiving for you and young men like you that continue to answer the call.
As Psalms 110:4 says ; The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” You are the chosen one Father..may our Lord God be with you as always❤️ Much love from India 🇮🇳
Just because were Christians doesn't give us permission to use the Lords name in vain. Just a word of warning. Mathew 12:36 "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment"
So beautiful!! So thankful for you, Father David Michael, and for all priests! What a gift the Priesthood is for those who are honored to become priests and those of us privileged to be served by them and to help them serve others!
You are a priest FOREVER! Your soul is marked, you are Our Lord's very self. May you be blessed, May Our Lady protect you, May Saint Michael protect you from the evil one.
Fr Brett Brannen # Seek and You will Find… and Flourish # The discernment of your correct God-predetermined vocation is the most important decision that you will make in your entire life. It may seem easier or less frightening to make your own plans or to decide your own vocation. But the truth is that the most peaceful place in the world for you is in the perfect will of God. To get there involves a diligent search. Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-12). No one can force you to search for your vocation. It must be your free decision to search, to discover, and to respond. If you choose to search, I promise you that you will find your particular vocation, though it may not be easy. If you choose not to search, you are not likely to find it. I believe one of the problems in the Church today is that many people are in the wrong vocation. Many people have grown up unaware that they have a vocation, much less that they should be asking God to reveal it to them. And there are many unhappy, unfulfilled, dissatisfied people. As a general rule, people flourish in their correct vocation! Flourishing does not just mean they are happy. It means they are steadily growing in holiness, they are fulfilled, and they are becoming the person God wants them to be. Fr. Brian Bashista, vocation director of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, underscores that vocation is less about personal choice and more about discovery. A vocation is not so much a choice as it is an invitation and response. A person offers himself or herself to the other. Vocations are always ‘other-directed.’ They are about love. Love is not so much chosen; it is discovered and then responded to. Even in marriage, a man does not really choose his wife or vice versa. He extends an invitation to her to enter into this vocation and she responds. Every vocation takes two yeses. As you seek to say yes to God and to discover the vocation in which God wants you to flourish, I recommend this prayer to you. Say it every day, more than once. Dear God, I want to want what you want. Even if I don’t want it right now; Even if I am afraid right now, I want to want it. Help me to want to be what you want me to be. Amen.
Wow Well said I have doubt my doubts are clear I had vocation in couple of years pray for me that my vocation should be good and well and i serve the lord i am mad to serve a Jesus ❤
I am 14 years old and ever since my first memories, I've wanted to be a priest; recently though, I still want to be a priest but I also want to have my own family. Right now I don't know but I will keep praying for God to give me my vocation ❤
In the Orthodox Church it’s also dependent on the diocese. For example, in the Russian diocese if you were in the United States, you go to Jordanville and you study and live as a monk on campus for 4 years before you are sent out into the world. After being sent out into the world you basically learn the ropes of the priest you’re placed under and do most of his “dirty work” and after a year to year and a half you’ll be officially ordained by the bishop and then you will either move to a different parish or continue at the one you are located at for 3-4 years where you’ll slowly gain vestments such as father confessor so on and so forth. After that you’ll be sent to either replace a priest that has fallen asleep or you’ll continue being a backup priest.
Hello, I'm from India. Having enthusiasm and Feeling God's call to join seminary like yours. Will you take me into your Congregation. Hoping to hear from you 😊 May God bless you abundantly.
I was just reading in Matthew 23 verse seven through nine and it states as the following how they enjoy the difference paid them on the streets and to be called Rabbi and Master . don’t ever let anyone call you that for only God is Rabbi and all of you are on the same level as brothers. And don’t anyone here on earth as father for only God and heaven should be addressed like that. So kindly asking here is this fit in to Catholicism
I'm wondering how much work such theology schooling would entail. 7-9 years is a long time, and I don't really want to be forced to choose between this and a S.T.E.M. program. Ideally, I'd like to do both.
Becoming a man of GOD does Not depend on man or the community, IT DEPENDS ON GOD. They are not Fathers, many are molesters, and do not understand the BIBLE. GOD makes real men of GOD (Kings and Priest) men that follow Him and His Commandments, and Not mere-man-made rules of man-made religion.
A thousand years for one Day? Mmm, careful for what you wish for. Thank you for sharing. I am just a tad curious. At the risk of betraying my ignorance... I have been wondering, I understand believe and accept that Roman Catholic Priests stand in for the person of Jesus of Nazareth, who is Christ, but why are the same called Father when he was the Son? Thank you for your service Father David Micheal.
Many, many people are blessed by the choice you made. Thank you!!

Some dioceses don’t have a pastoral year, just a pastoral summer, so for some, it’s 6-8

It also depends on the religious congregation.
I AM.
😢
Also, it’s not all study. You can go out with friends and home to your parents. It goes by faster than you think.

Come up to Orthodox seminarian standards for liturgical stuff...7 years!!!
In my diocese its 12 years! 😊

Father, have you looked up Garabandal lately? Seems like it is happening today!!!

" And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven" .
Jesus
Matthew 23:9 KJV
In that case I shouldn't call my dad father you're taking it out of context
I had no idea it took that long , it’s like becoming a doctor . I suppose in a sense that’s what priests do as well .
Im really reallly thinking about it father. But what stops me is the fact that I’m a sinner, I feel like that tax collector and the Pharisee as well
And who did Jesus eat with? The sinners. Bro you aren’t alone.
👏
For a Christian we I think you have to get a pastoral degree thing I don’t really know
