I trust Gunn witn DC as much as I trust him near a Kindergarten.
This is the man who has been on record as actively despising comics and he and Whedon (whether you wanna admit it or not) ruined Marvel by turning it into a non-stop joke fest. We've seen what he did to DC before hand and Peacemaker is about as pleasant of an experience as being awake during heart surgery.

Gunn's first mistake was firing Cavill. His second mistake was bickering and whining over fans being upset. He should have left it alone, let people cool down. Then just wrote a quick "we thank you for your support and are very excited to get moving forward"
Real simple. But toughen that skin up

    Three questions
1: I’m not liking where Gunn’s DC is going, getting rid of beloved actors and keeping JJ Abrams around to Johnson up Superman are two big red flags
2: Henry Cavill should still be Superman
3: I’m in the minority but I liked the Snyderverse and was more interested in it compared to the MCU (yes even during Phase 3) and would’ve rather had that finished before doing a reboot

The comment made about the fans is a red flag just cause these guys never respect the fans or the source material. I suspect that Gunn would stick to the source a lot better than Fiege from Marvel. Cavill should be Superman but I think the plan was determined that if DC is going to compete with Marvel at all, you must scap everything to the bare bones. Even with excellent casting, they need new characters for these roles so that people dont mix the old with the new. I can respect that even though they made great actor choices and takes a lot of balls. Will it work? The deck is stacked against them, but they need pure zero start and this is something that needed to happen.
If Marvel wanted to enact a new grand arc even with all these unlikable characters. They should have started back at phase 1 and not continue off the old saga.

Still think to this day 300 is his best movie, with maybe Watchman coming second, followed by his version of the JL…the Snydercut. As for Cavill, he was a good Superman but I’m no fanboy of his either, so don’t really care that he’s gone. I do have a soft spot for Gadot as WW though, I’m going to miss her. Mamoa I think was the perfect Aquaman, but he seems likely to return to the DCU as Lobo, so he’ll be fine. Miller is a nut job, so good riddance. As for Affleck, he’s getting on a bit age wise for the part, and doesn’t want to play Batman anymore anyway.

Yes, Affleck and Cavill were very popular in their roles, but no, Snyder's version of Batman and Superman were NOT the traditional versions. Batman was pill-popping, boozing, bitter man that had long, long ago forgotten his One Rule. Meanwhile, Superman was nearly as dark as Batman. Snyder's take on Superman was a lost, confused, soul-searching loner that didn't know who he was or his purpose in life. Yes, I understand Snyder wanted these characters to be this way so he could give them an arc by taking them back to their true selves during the course of his DCEU franchise. I think everyone loved Affleck, Gadot, and Cavill in their roles. The problem was, the general public was only half interested, at best, in the movies themselves.

@@MyLibertyTV Sorry, my friend. Very far astray from the traditional portrayal of the character. In fact, as I mentioned, Snyder did this purposely in order to return them to their original versions (the traditional portrayals) after the resurrection of Superman and the formation of JL. This would provide an arc for both characters.

heres a problem and what you dont see, or dont care to see world class. How many reboots can ttheir be? and how much money are you willing to put into a reboot every time something fails? ive seen so many version of different characters getting rebooted, im sick of seeing them, even if its a tv show. You have to start over and reinvest your time into that universe, and DC has done this far to much especially with batman.
I love batman and spiderman but i cant respect a reboot, every few years. They might as well fix/improve the DC universe that has been here for 10 years than make a new one, cause if this new one fails, then what? Another reboot? No thanks. its pitiful. im not wasting my time and money so they can reboot at any moment they feel until they get it right. I cant speak for everyone else but that, that is why i dont want a god damn reboot.

The toxic Snyder only fans are indeed a small but loud minority of Snyder fans in general. But the number of people pissed off by Gunns reboot and Cavills abrupt firing are NOT a minority. That is the mistake Gunn is making. WBD however, seems to realize this as stocks are crashing and the board and investors are worried about the backlash. The recent statements by Gunn and the Rock are plainly WBD directed damage control. Especially the Elseworlds statement.
After the unceremonious reboot, the abrupt firing of Cavill, and Gunn attacking fans online, I'm not supporting any of Gunn's films, even IF they are any good. They have given me every reason not to support them, and no reason to support them.

Why are the third acts of DC movies such letdowns? They’re all so formulaic at that point. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam all had decent first and second acts, but the final acts seem so generic. The same is true for the other films - Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Justice League. I haven’t seen The Suicide Squad, but James Gunn has good third acts in the GotG films. Christopher Nolan had good final acts as well, especially in The Dark Knight. Man of Steel made $668,045,518 in 2013. The ticket price was an average of $ 8.35 = $ 880,059,963 in 2022 money at an average ticket price of $ 11. That would be the Top 5 of 2022's movies, beating out Wakanda Forever by nearly 100 million. But the money is not the important thing here. The audience number is. So, let us take a look at that
Man of Steel (2013): about 80 million globally
Wakanda Forever (2022): about 71 million globally
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) about 70 million globally
This means Man of Steel had about 10 million people more watching it, if you rule-of-thumb it
Dr. Strange: Madness Forever (2022) has 87 million people, so that one would have to be compared to Batman vs. Superman: Something Justice Stuff from 2016, with an average ticket price of $ 9.57
That would bring that one to an audience of about 91 million globally. That audience number would bring it to 1 billion and some change (4 million change), narrowly beating out Jurassic World Park Virus Chase Movie to take Number 2 in 2022, far behind Tom Cruise: Flying For Real
The Warner Bros problem was that of greed. They looked at Avengers (2012) with its $ 1,5 billion+ (at a ticket price on average of $ 7,92) that brought in a whopping 191 million into their seats. That was always impossible on a second movie. Cameron will fail at his stuff too. And Gunn will lose big. Those are the numbers. Does not matter if you like Snyder's stuff or not (I am so-so on it, I was not a big fan). But what they now have done is tell people, "here is the off ramp", and anybody who has ever done numbers with rebrands (and I have professionally) will tell you that you never show a paying customer the off ramp, you never announce the change of a formula, because if even half of the people who scored e.g. Man of Steel a solid (not great) 7.6 in the user score will not show up for The Superman(TM) with another Pattinson-like age group actor, you will have lost about 35 to 40 million of your potential customer base
Blah Blah Blah... "but it's a movie, not a brand"
Not anymore. All of this is are brands. They are Coca-Cola. They are McDonald's.
So, Gunn will lose his job... or not, Hollywood like Big Tech is known for letting morons overstay their usefulness
But they will crash and burn. On the other hand, it will be hilarious.

I disagree with you. Ben Affleck was, and still IS, an absolutely HORRIBLE Batman! One of the worst ones out there, not that any of them have been good or comic-accurate, in my opinion. But Batfleck and Pat-man, are among the worst Batmans ever, down there with Clooney and Kilmer. I'm glad to see Affleck won't be ruining the character anymore, and I didn't like Gal Gadot and her awful accent and stiff acting as Wonder Woman, either. The only true loss here is Henry Cavill as Superman. While it does kinda suck, Superman isn't that hard of a character to play and I'm sure other, younger, far cheaper actors out there can do just as good of a job as Cavill.
All I want is for DC movies to no longer suck, and I've been waiting ten years for them to finally reboot this Zack Snyder dumpster fire that is the DCEU.

Warner Bros need to understand the fans are the customers who pay for the comic books , the merchandise and collectibles and they pay to go see the movies and buy the DVDs but yet the fans are strongly spoken out they want Henry Cavill as there Superman history repeats itself Warner Bros made the same mistake with Michael Keaton but fans are the paying customer you're not going to buy something you don't want and the fans don't want to see another Superman played by another actor as of now so ain't WB leaving money on the table if your Warner Brothers at the end of the day it's about the money right or is it about the agenda

I blame previous head of DC and Zack 'I'm so effing violently angry' Snyder for misusing the great casting. How do you separate the DCU from the failed DCEU if you keep the same casting. They also had terrible writing. The connected universe was not built the way it should have been.
I love Cavill as Supes, Affleck as Bats, Gal as Wonder Woman, Jason as Fish Guy, Zachary Levi as Shazam⚡, and Margot as Harley Quinn. Wasted casting. Best thing to do is write J. Gunn and in a nice manner, say we want cast back but new universe. He has to trust us. The other thing is to organize a petition for cast members we support.
With an intelligent effort we might be able to get the casting we want. If not, we have to trust J. Gunn.

Think of the possible change if they let Snyder finish rather than splurge on Whedon and fail big time? @dewulfe9913 2 года назад +1

People are saying 'this is Gunn's mistake'...but be realistic. Zaslav has recently said that WB needs to be doing more with the franchises it has access to. And Marvel is failing. Meaning WB has to see this as the best chance they have to create a new DCEU. That would be the assignment given to Gunn by Zaslav. *Not Gunn's choice*. I know Cavill is perfect as Superman (and Geralt, and probably Bond as well), but (a) if they're planning a 10 year story arc for their DCU, then maybe they do need to start with someone younger, and (b) the absolute mess of the Snyderverse needs to be left behind - they have to start fresh (after the already produced films have been released).
Sadly this means, I understand why they've dropped Henry etc from the lineup. But I'm not going to get childish and throw a tantrum about it, like so many are. It's life, and tho I sometimes like his films, Snyder's vision for DC came out poorly. It's only business to do their best to move past it. And *maybe* there's room for Cavill in a later film as an older Superman. Don't know. But while I usually think stars/studio people hating on fans is the worst (can you say "Rings of Powah"), in this case, I don't think Gunn has actually shown hate. He's just said "yep, some people out there are throwing tantrums, but this is the best way for WB to move forward". VERY different to the kind of thing Amazon was doing with RoP.
So I say let's give Gunn a chance. Henry has Warhammer 40K, which I prefer for him because frankly what can anyone do with Superman that hasn't been done already? Or isn't just ridiculous? 'Oh no, not the kryptonite again!" Yeah, that's not predictable at all, smh. Gunn has made some awesome films, some very good TV - can he change his tone and make movies that different to the humor heavy ones we've seen from him so far? Don't know, let's keep an open mind and see.

I thought Cavill could really pull off a Superman, so I was excited to see what someone like Gunn could do. What he can do then turns out to not want the best chance of a good Superman. Unless he pulls out some brilliant unknown it doesn't look good. I still think Gunn can do well, but rather than feeling warm and fuzzy about it, I wonder if he has crawled up his own ass like so many before him. The thing about the early Snyder films is... despite being heavily panned by critics and inviting massive hyperbolic, absurd levels of hatred, time has been kind to these films in that directors cuts and rewatches after the internet negative buzz faded have cultivated a decent sized audience of people who really love these movies, in many ways more so than half of the MCU.

He made certain controversial choices in how to reinterpret the characters, but he clearly understood them intimately. If you rewatch the 78 Superman directors cut, and pay attention carefully to what JorEl says, and look at Supermans behavior and understand that's it's the 70s (sexual revolution) and look at their interpretation of Lois Lane differs from the comics, you'd realize that what you think of as "classic" is actually a very bold deconstruction, and it also involved very blatant Jesus metaphors, meanwhile it showed Superman both killing (in the directors cut of Superman 2) AND violating his fathers most sacred moral code (playing god with history) all to save a modern woman whose panties he saw. He then gave up his power entirely for some pooty tang. And then regretted it.
