Yup. Another victim of Disneys incompetence. Hasbro were stuck having to make figures of characters no one cared about from movies no one liked. Lots of Star Wars characters in brown sack outfits. New marvel heroes whose costumes all look pretty much the same just different colors. Not very toyetic.
Why have I got a feeling that if Hasbro become a video game publisher, they're going to become another Warner Bros. Completely destroy their own brand IPs through greed, ideology and incompetence.
Fun fact. They did! And then sold out said IPs. Activision didn't want to renew said IPs down the line. And now there's a boat load of abandoned transformers games.
Because you are a sane and competent person that has seen this happen before, unlike the idiots with several million dollars salaries that manage big companies.
I think that in about ten years, Ollie’s will finally throw them out. But they’re REALLY stubborn: they don’t mark things down as quickly as they should, and are remarkably reluctant to throw anything out.
Actually I think with all these zombie shows coming out they ought to start filming in Ollie's getting the food snacks and then seeing all the toys on the shelf
When Oillies collapses, they'll point the finger to Hasbro, who will point the finger towards Disney, because its their fault in the end, they got stupid and killed the Golden Goose, twice, resulting in a major shift and collapse of the toy market, Toys R US was the biggest player on the block, when they went down, everything changed as they had a lot invested in the Last Jedi which was a terrible mistake on their part, but Disney getting completely stupid and staying stupid, has resulted in this sitution! I don't think we are the last generation of collectors, but things will never be the same again as these companies get extremely greedy, just look at Disney parks, they are outpacing Infilation with their costs and yet they are failing to deliver, they cannot build new attractions and only reramp old ones, only for things to stop working properly as all of the talent they had, has been chased off to their rivals because they didn't meet some worthless check box of a standard! So with everything left over that has been simply rotting on shelves, that will be sent off to a recycling centre, the Copper will be stripped out of its cardboard, the screws and pins removed and the plastic melted down for something more useful like storage boxes or coathangers! While everything of actual value, will be sold off deadcheep to claw back as much money as possible for shareholders and the company doing the purge!
As an ex-Art Director who worked on the Hasbro account (late 90’s-early 2000’s), I can say confidently that Hasbro is the most poorly run company I’ve ever had the experience of working with.
As an artist myself, I'm not surprised by your assessment. It must've been very difficult to create when you have a close-minded company like Hasbro in charge of your decision making all of the time. I would feel like I'm trapped in a box all of the time.
I remember all the stacks of overprinted bagged-and-boarded comic books from the '90s, when so much trash was printed to cash in on obsessive speculator collectors. (I got issues of the one series I liked, and walked away.) Diamond declared bankruptcy this month, ~30 years later. I think it's going to take a while for this to truly be the end. Dis-bro have just finally found that "they'll buy everything we print" isn't true, especially with the broken economy we've had the past four years. There's printing mediocre characters for people to "collect them all", with a core of characters that people care about, to pull them in. Then there's mass-producing characters that nobody cared about from a series that nobody cared about, under some kind of mistaken idea that you can force people to love a bad series by making more of it. That's now how The Force works, guys!
Yeah, I feel like a dying breed. I was born in that sweet spot where I know my way around modern technology but also remember VHS, Cassette tapes, pay phones, TV guide books, etc. And though I'm pushing 30, I still collect all my favorites that have helped me survive all the turmoil. DVDs, blu-rays, video games, comics, and action figures are all that i have ever enjoyed, but the times are a changing and everything is going downhill into the abyss as newer generations arise. Crazier, stupider, weirder, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. So, I rather drown my sorrows and spend 100 smackroos on a 3rd party Megatron toy that actually transforms into a gun than wait for hasbro's G1 tank Megatron that is supposed to be cartoon accurate for fans of the original. Who are pushing 35 to 40. Jesus, we are the last of a great era my friends. Enjoy what you can while it is yours. I sure as hell will. 😤💪😌👍❤
Well they did that through greed, stupidity, and arrogance, with ubisoft shunning the pro patriotic message of Splinter Cell for Woke Dogs, and laughing the guy who made blood dragon out of the building and EA all they do is fleece people dry through sports games, and force out a new Need For Speed every 6 weeks so no solid idea can take place to make something new, fun and revolutionary that is well done while also wasting all their studios and running their games into the ground while embracing DEI, Invasive Divisive Exclusion, the most notable incident of this being when that Android who looks like the guy from Steven Spielberg's AI, Andrew Wilson put all everyones negative posts about battlefield up when they needlessly changed it to the modern age and threw in a Quadropoligic woman in on a wall during a celebration to make fun of them, instead of looking at that and understanding the customer base claiming them all to be toxic when they just simply didnt like shitty games, writing and DEI, while being fleeced dry like they owe the mob money with the DLC crap they always pull and I just hope the people who keep supporting activision finally wake up and start doing the same as the only reason the game industry is in such a state is because they stopped making the games to have fun first, and make money second and did just like the movie industry did where they eliminated their bread and butter, their smaller projects that other studios could have free rein to do, that were cheaper and faster to put out, which used to make up 90% of the market now all they do is fund the big hitters and then wonder why they dont make money, as their development teams are all straped out of ideas given they never get to do anything fun to recharge their batteries and are forced out to meet all these scheduels because of the poor state of game development where they always have to overdo the graphics infavor of the art style, which makes everything take 8 years now with bad management and misunderstanding of the product at large and how to treat their workforce to get a good product out hell even look at the name, EA, Electronic Arts, that used to have the subtitle of the aliance of electronic artists and all they did in the 2000's was put them out of business, like the only people who have any brains, balls and sense are valve, like they actually leveled with their fanbase recently about what the hell happened with half life 3 and were just honest with everyone, and the results have been nothing but positive, while even rockstar has their head up their ass now where instead of letting these people have a new GTA 6 trailer or some small gameplay clip to keep them busy as a nice chrismas gift, they stayed silent, and let the speculators drive everyone nuts while shutting down mods people really needed to keep busy until 6 was ready where even the mod team of Vice City Next Gen is like we appreciate and love the developers of this game, but the people publishing it can get f'ucked also Hasbro Sold off Galoob I think, and theirs not a person from the 90's who wouldnt buy a reissue of their older stuff if they made it nowdays like I still have some of their star trek stuff that was surprisingly well done for what it was, like hell even the Enterprise D looks like a dead Ringer for the 2 foot model they actually used on the show just in microform and they did that in the 90's also videogames mixed in with the actual stuff, like a micromachines world just like lego island would be genius,
I really feel bad for my little nephiew. He mostly watches minecraft youtubers and plays with random dinosaur toys. He is part of the generation that won't have nostalgia for anything. I'm waiting for him to grow up a little so I can introduce him to some classic Marvel Comics I have.
Man comes to a toy company, to turn it into something else other than a toy company… imagine buying a Pizza Hut saying you want to turn it into a computer hardware company. Why not start a new company or join an existing company that’s already going down the path you want. This is stupid.
Well you have to imagine a scenario where basically men in their 50's are the only ones that eat 90% of pizza. Instead of pizza the kids eat some sort of digital food. Now imagine buying Pizza Hut in that world, what are you going to do?
We see this all the time now. Look at all the boys brands that get taken over and the new people in charge decide to turn them into girls brands (disney/lucasfilm).
My main concern is how they're gonna handle Transformers if this is really the direction they're going in. That's like, THE franchise that NEEDS actual toys.
hasbro had a video game department a long time ago but they closed it because they found it to be easier to just license their IPs to game companies to get games made
@AlejandroTecman I love War For and Fall Of, I still have the disc's. The part where you play as Optimus on Metroplex's shoulder directing fire...oh man!
lol. as someone who knows first hand. not years.. but decades ago. Hasbro and Mattel go through this "digital and video game dance and loss" every 1o-15 years.
Yeah. I came to this realization years ago, playing that hot wheels game (which is genuinely well-made). All the cars I unlocked would be worthless if they made a sequel… And then they, of course, made a sequel. All of these gachas, all of the digital sales, as well as the game pass, are to get you hooked on a digital future. Own nothin’ and be happy, baby!
@@dszuch1084we won't be able to have anything...not even a house to live in..and we will still be forced to be happy...but what is happiness but a face to hide what we truly are: miserable creatures with no future?
All I know is.. if I was on The Board, and my CEO of a Toy Company said to us, "hey... we're shifting away from making toys, we're not going make toys anymore at all", I think he'd have to RUN FOR HIS FREAKING LIFE!!!
Hasbro... it's like watching a man on rollerskates carry a birthday cake blindfolded down a hall of rat traps. We all know it's not going to end well and yet they can stop where they are at any moment and make it easier on themselves.
We all must thank Disney for saving our budgets. Could ya'll imagine the amount of merch we could buy, if Disney didn't *RUIN EVERY SINGLE* franchise we ever cared about?
2:22 This ‘toys aren’t as popular’ stuff makes me think of when Playboy went digital only as well as non-nude because ‘people don’t buy physical and naked women are everywhere on the internet.’
But they were right nobody buys magazines and who is going to pay for an online playboy subscription? Their options were basically shut shop or keep the brand active to keep all trade and copyright in tact and they make their money today from licensing the brand to be everywhere from candles to socks to pencil cases.
Oh, definitely. The yuppies are learning they ain't welcome anymore. I paid my dues growing up, got my ass beat a lot, got swirlies, was a social leper, but I had comic books and horror movies/novels and video games and heffy fukkin' metals to get me through it. Got older, people started coming into my passions. I was hopeful. I was foolish. Like many, I welcomed them. Embraced them. And rather than share in the joy that those beautiful art forms can provide, they stabbed us in the back. Took the helm and demanded we change to better suit them. But no longer.
Is it to early to say RIP Hasbro? Also, thanks Disney! If it wasn’t for you throwing out 💩 after 💩, we might still have Toys R’ Us…in general and Hasbro making toys.
Yeah it's really far off from the old under $2 price for a card back GI Joe back in the 80s. Even if you adjust for inflation and double the price a classified is well over the price point it should be at.
They were talking about raising prices to $60 😂Like who's buying this.!?! I remember being a kid and getting a Ninja Turtle or a GI Joe action figure for $4. Modern Day "adults" ruined kids toys. How pathetic.
And the quality of the toys somehow look worse than before. I don't really collect anymore but I'll pass through the Walmart and target toy sections sometimes and the toys look...ugly. boring. Joint placement makes the figures look stiff. Like not much posing and movement is there.
@@Shadowbanned_On_RUclips Funny thing, cheaper toys do sale. The sonic and Godzilla lines are extremely popular with kids...they are also 10 dollars and way better than hasbro's crap in every way.
@@MegaManFan1987 As a PR collecter yea IDK why they overproduced so many Zeo Yellow and Dino Charge Pink when they could have overproduced things people would want like Tommy's master morpher, or LC Zeo Gold, SPD Red, MMPR Green, etc
On top of that, they're making a ton of non toy stuff for movies no one likes. An example is the wakanda forever helmet/mask thing and other things like that. Who even wants stuff like that? Yet they make it. The big young Jedi play sets. Why? Who is that for?
BINGO! Hasbro should take an even harder stance. "We will not produce characters for movies that are 2 hour lecture lessons for your agenda. That's why no one is buying our products!". I hope they don't stop the Star Wars Vintage Collection line. But it's difficult when half your waves have Disney Star Wars garbage.
@@avengedslipknot1000 Young Jedi Adventures is just a shameless ripoff of Spidey and Friends which did well in terms of toy sales Thing is, Spidey and Friends worked because the Marvel Universe is much more family-friendly than Star Wars, and Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters of all time and has been marketed to children of all ages across many generations, meanwhile Star Wars isn't very family-friendly and kids don't know who most of the characters are lol
I remember when Hasbro made toys for everyone & that were worth getting, then they hired a mouth breathing fool who knows nothing about toys, tabletop & collectibles.
I used to work for them, and was shocked when managers/designers did not know how to pose an action figure. Also telling, was that during company training events, they'd have everyone stand up, introduce themselves, and say what their favorite IP was - the vast majority of non printers/painters/sculptors said their fave was Monopoly. :/
Hasbro is getting out of the toy game.. from a certain point of view. Why not? They also made the epic decision to kill Optimus Prime back in the 1986 movie and nearly killed the Transformers franchise in the process. Truly "big brain" moves.
Its not that kids dont want toys, its that the toys are too expensive/complex to buy for kids. Optimus prime or Galvatron are $40 or more, and they are hard to transform. Also, as a parent, I am not going to pay $30 for a spider-man figure for a 10 year old. The problem with Hasbro focusing on adults, is that they disconnect from the server. And todays kids wont be attached to buying action figures, when they become adults.
Yep, Hasbro and many many other companies have ditched children and going towards millennials. Even McDonald's no longer is child friendly, they are promoting themselves to millennials. It's sad. We use to live in a country that target children and made children our focus, but now we just focus on millennials who haven't grown up, and this is coming from the last year that millennials are considered a generation. I've seen it.
"hard to transform" honestlt that just sounds like a skill issue. If you're struggling to transform Kingdom Galvatron, you're not ready for _anything_ third-party.
Last good figured they made (as kid oriented series) were RiD 2015 figures. Figures werent that expensive while they were very sturdy and easy to transform. Speaking from expirience (i have a younger bro)
Well, Transformers isnt really that big of a brand anymore. It had its spotlight in the 1980's and once again in the 2000's. I would hope with it being a smaller IP than say Star Wars/Marvel or DC (and with how small Hasbro are themselves compared to the competition) that Hasbro wouldnt be able to afford big screw ups. I would say to keep your spirits high but your expectations low.
Stoped collecting mainly because of prices and total lack of product where I live. They used to have entire sections dedicated to transformers in store. Now not even movie gets enough traction for the stores to put more than two figures for some stupid price. That's why I went third party/AliExpress
Transformers is one of the few licenses that still makes a genuine profit. There's no reason to let go of it. That said, TF has been struggling for a while because MEDIA SELLS YOUR PRODUCT. NO SHOW OR FILMS MEANS NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR TOYS.
Toys want to be videogames, Videogames want to be movies, Movies want to be propaganda. What is happening? Disney even killed his videogame studio because it didn't did AAA video game studio sales, now they want to have it back just to not do the numbers again because the videogame industry is like it is now.
Hasbro already fumbled entering the gaming space with Transformers Reactivated. God I hope they’ll fail, we don’t want another greedy company milking gamers
If Hasbro made all their toys with the articulation and scale, of their 1980s/90s 3.75 scale GI Joe toys, they might have made more sales. Those toys were legit.
They reintroduced the Star Wars Vintage Collection line. In the last 2 years they've been beginning to get back to where we were before Star Wars was sold. The recent Count Dooku figure is gorgeous.
Yes! I can vouch for the Vintage Collection being the modern improvement of those old, super articulated figures! And they often look and feel better than their 6” counterparts! Now if they would just make more and get them out there to the people who want them… We have been waiting for years for the rest of the Bad Batch 😒
I'm not terribly surprised. I've been checking out Transformers releases for the last few years and the quality of the toys has been steadily getting worse with each new toy line. The Studio series and 3rd party figures are the only ones I would consider buying.
I don't see how anyone could look at the development from Siege to Legacy United and say with a straight face that they're getting worse with each line. That's just flat-out wrong. Earthrise was the only one that was completely garbage because they tried to get lazy. Kingdom onward continued the precedent Siege started with the only major problem being the yellowing plague from mid-Kingdom up until just before Legacy Evolution. Age of the Primes' first wave is a disappointing lineup other than Red Alert, but it's not even out yet and we don't know what the future waves will be other than the inevitable other Aerialbots.
IF HASBRO stops making toys, even if they just sever their contract with Disney, Ollie's won't run out of Wakanda Forever and Reva figures before the end of this century.
Amazing how poor quality these “toys” are when you compare to Kotobukiya, GoodSmile, Max Factory etc… these western brands are complete trash by comparison.
Cheers from Japan. Funny how toys by Takara-Tomy & SH Figuarts are selling better than the US toys. I've lived in Tokyo for 20 years, and mostly collect Japanese toys - but I recently quit buying SH figuarts because they are better suited for Stop Motion animation and can't take a lot of punishment. That's why I've started buying Marvel Legends in the last couple years, more durable and fun in hand. The SH Figuarts of the world are great, but come with waaaay too many accessories. I got tired of storing all that crap. Most people put their figure in one pose and never touch it again. This is also why retro style soft vinyl toys are getting more popular - they are simple and durable. More art and aesthetic, less unnecessary articulation, etc. But yeah, each to their own - but makes total sense that Hasbro would switch it up, the sheer amount of overstock Star Wars trash I see when I visit the USA (as shown in your videos) is ridiculous. So much wasted plastic. Those dumb protestors that block highways over oil should be blocking the Star Wars Black Series instead.
The entire concept of "children's toys" is undoubtedly dying. Action figures, dolls, cars, Easy Bake Ovens...it's all soon going to be a relic of a bygone age. Without CHILDREN driving the market, "adult collectors" won't have a rug to stand on much longer.
For fucks sake, Hasbro. I JUST got back into Transformers because of Transformers One, a damn near perfect movie that you and Paramount failed to market. Just because adults buy toys more than kids now a days doesn't mean kids don't buy toys anymore. Playmates, Jakks Pacific, and Moose Toys are making toys that kids buy. They just don't buy YOUR stuff because it's expensive! 20 bucks for a Transformers One Optimus Prime from the BASIC TOY LINE!? You're absolutely insane.
"Who is this for?" It's for Disney. Obviously. Anyone who thinks Hasbro wanted to make Rose Tico or fat Loki over another clone trooper or Spider-Man is totally out of touch with reality. They have to make the new stuff, so they make the new stuff. It's not Hasbro's fault Disney is giving them trash to work with. Frankly Marvel and Star Wars are anchors around their neck at this point.
What they're gonna do is proper defer Transformers design and manufacture back to the home office, Takara is better at this anyway as they and Kenner were the ones who created most of the Transformers that people actually care about.
We don't need Hasbro. For Gijoe=> Threezero is making those. TF=> 3rd party is making those. Powerrangers => Threezero is making those. Starwars=> Hot Toys !! Evolution.
“We’re the last generation of collectors. Yes, we grew up with video games-but we didn’t live in an always online-connected society” This is so true and so important! We truly are the remnants of the past.
Hasbro is doing the same thing with Magic the Gathering. Not even the MTG whales can keep up with how many sets come out within such a short time of each other.
Outsource that shit back to the Transformers home office Takara and let's see PR toys that can actually compete with their Super Sentai counterparts from Bandai instead of objectively inferior buttfugly licensed Temu knockoffs. 😂
Hasbro did that with the late G1 Transformers. All plastic, no metal parts anymore. They would break very easily (even more than before). That was very frustrating as a kid because I treated them like they were Fabergé eggs. Some of them ended up looking like they were made for toddlers.
Hasbro's shown a trend of bad management. Changing venue to video games will do nothing to change this trend. At best, I expect a slew of new Habro branded mobile game shovelware.
remember when hasbro was rolling in the money thanks to the tf live action movies and they set that money on fire by making the HUB channel, which was a poor idea at the time and didnt last long, i wonder how big of a loss that was for them
Should be noted: they just recently shut down a Transformers game in development. And you can't even get the other Transformers games digitally anymore. They could try and make some money bringing those back at least.
Hasbro used to have a video game arm. Their games cluttered up the Gamestop Bargain Bins. y'know the 3 for $10 bin that used to sit at the front of Gamestop stores. Monopoly, My Little Pony, etc. Hasbro made tons and tons of shovelware games.
>toys from a bad IP don't sell >decide that the problem is people don't buy physical toys anymore >go digital-only with your IP >??? >Profit! Smooth move, Has-been bros! Now when your bad IP doesn't sell, stores won't be stuck with a bunch of plastic figures that nobody wants! In fact, you won't even need to bother the stores at all with your crap!
This! They finally got me to capitulate and adopt 6” scale with the quality they crank out with Classified. I had been 3.75 for Life, but after grabbing a couple key characters (Snake Eyes, Stormshadow, Spirit, Shipwreck, Destro) at retail, I got a tiny itch. The designs were getting so much better, & it awakened the hunger. Collecting the 1/18 stuff was more expensive, really. For years I piecing together the ones I missed, & the cause just kept going up and I wasn’t finding anything affordable in 4”. Then the Ross finds for deep discount is what got me to go in on the 1/12, as I was able to open a few and fell in love. They managed to cover the nostalgia while also making giant improvements and modernizations. Now i am addicted 😅
I believe this will go the way of Kaybee and ToysRUs. A CEO grossly out of touch to the company's industry will be brought in under the guise of a revamp only to have the company loaded up with debt, that capital liquidated and the company filing for bankruptcy...eventually being relegated to obscurity. Last ditch money grabs will be made on using the brand name with no intention of a real comeback. No one in government cares about "toys" so every one of these companies are ripe for corporate r@pe without any punishment or backlash.
gaming is going digital, which means they don't make physical crap to put in a landfill. This also means that once the server goes down, it's game-over. i guess. i only buy physical
In the 90's Hasbro chased video games.. Things didn't go well for them back then. They were forced to exit.. *Prepare for the Second verse.. Worse than the First!*
Depending on the concept, a GI Joe or Transformer game would sell gangsters. “GI Joe - Assault on Cobra Island” where you plan and carry out an invasion of cobra island, open world, with vintage 1980s vehicles, would be awesome. It won’t happen. But it would Be awesome.
For sure! Imagine a Diablo style game where you choose your team (Joes or Cobra [sub-teams too - Dresdnoks, Iron Grenadiers, etc]) and they (bots) follow whichever character you select to lead the team. And/or online players who join you at the time you play. If solo, you can swap between your team members to be who you control. EVERY character has their primary specialty (according to the og file cards and comics, of course), their secondary specialty and then some modifiable skills depending on tools and weapons you can find along the way. Vehicles can be boarded and driven/piloted. This would be limited somehow, of course. But there could also be levels where you are piloting vehicles. And don’t have it be so repetitive, button mashing. Make some stealthy missions, & regular life missions where you are dealing with ordinary things. Some handling politicians (who Zartan has replaced and is manipulating the government to do Cobra’s bidding). Make the story dense and interesting - we have so many examples of how this could work and be amazing! Something like the Marvel Universe online game from few years back. But changes in perspective. Maybe like Operation Blackout but done better and with ARAH designs. The game can change to a first person shooter for a level, then top down racer/shooter, then a puzzler, then a life simulator for character interactions and drama. Go hard or GTFO!!!
Sounds like the same desperation move as Jaguar ditching it's entire current lineup and most of their staff to go all electric! A move that's already gaining a massive backlash! Will probably go the same way for Hasbro!
As a 'bare bones ' action figure dolly collector, i collect bits and pieces from what I can salvage from others top quality throw away crap to assemble a genuine action figure dolly that's as close to I can come to the official action figure dolly put out by popular manufacturers crap 💩😂❤
If they lose it, I hope Jada Toys wins the bid for Marvel. I'd love X-Men figures with ball-jointed waists and diaphragms. Think "domestic Mafex" figures.

Hasbro already started a Transformers video. Which failed. Over 7 years in development and nothing really to show for it. Supposedly the game company that was making it, just took the money and ran away with it. Another Transformers video game is supposedly in development with another company. We'll see how that turns out.
Wait... you're telling me Disney switching their Marvel and Star Wars movies from the male demographic to specifically man-hating feminists... isn't paying dividends? Alienating little boys by making movies that denigrate men while still expecting those same men to buy merchandise from said film... is NOT paying off? Are you saying that taking two franchises, Star Wars and Marvel, both purchased because Disney had no male-focused properties at all in their portfolio, then poisoning both by pumping them full of feminist toxicity until they're unprofitable... ISN'T a recipe for success? Wow, mind blown.
I wish my local Ollies would get in as much stock as yours does. I always see some items I would buy in your videos that aren't available at the local one.
Hasbro couldn't even get Transformers Rise/Reactivate out the door. The days when they had High Moon Studios putting out great games are far, far behind us. The days of Michael Bay bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars are also gone. The newer shows and movies aren't hitting... though TF One was a fantastic film. People are burned out on these franchises but for the nostalgia hit.
reactivate was looking hopeful (as a concept, not the fucked up development) and really could have turned things around making a GOOD SOLID game with a pretty unique setting, even if it was just another looter/shooter
I used to collect loads of crap but i had to paint the room i put it all away safe and its still there over 10 years later i don't miss the clutter at all, i did not need 7 dvd's/3 Blus of the same film.
The only good figure line from Hasbro is GI Joe Classified. They are excellent figures. There's been a few hiccups in the line, but I absolutely love them. I'm betting Hasbro will lose or give up the Star Wars and Marvel lines. Disney destroyed the Star Wars IP. Hasbro should only make figures from the original trilogy, the prequels, and maybe a few from other shows or movies.
Their Power Rangers line was good especially since they made fan-favourite teams like In Space and Dino Thunder, were very affordable ($20 each) and came with tons of accessories and actually had good articulation (with later figures having drop down hips and legs that can do full splits)
I'll share a recent hasbro poo story. I just got into heroquest, the remake, and I'm trying to get all the expansions. Well I started with the character packs, picked up monk no problem. Went to get rouge, and it was sold out everywhere. I thought that's odd it's only been out for a year or so they should have a restock. I contacted hasbro, and the secret came out. No, we aren't making anymore of that heroquest we have a new version on the way. I asked well will the rouge be in that new starter set? No and they go on to try and sell me on the idea of buying a whole new core box, first light. Well needless to say I instantly hung up with the rep and went on eBay and bought the only rouge left for a decent price. People had nott figured it out yet, but a week later I saw rouge expansions going for over $100. I just couldn't believe a company would cut support to a very successful game so fast.
This is happening because Disney destroyed the demand for Star Wars and Marvel toys, which resulted in poor toy sales for Hasbro.

The "last generation of collectors" line really spoke to me. See the same thing in the comic book world.
as EA & Ubisoft (among other studios) are dying a slow death, let's go all in on gaming -Hasbro
To be fair, those studios are having trouble because they've been making bad games, not because gaming as an industry is in any trouble.
Well they did that through greed, stupidity, and arrogance, with ubisoft shunning the pro patriotic message of Splinter Cell for Woke Dogs, and laughing the guy who made blood dragon out of the building
and EA all they do is fleece people dry through sports games, and force out a new Need For Speed every 6 weeks so no solid idea can take place to make something new, fun and revolutionary that is well done
while also wasting all their studios and running their games into the ground while embracing DEI, Invasive Divisive Exclusion, the most notable incident of this being when that Android who looks like the guy from Steven Spielberg's AI, Andrew Wilson
put all everyones negative posts about battlefield up when they needlessly changed it to the modern age and threw in a Quadropoligic woman in on a wall during a celebration to make fun of them, instead of looking at that and understanding the customer base
claiming them all to be toxic when they just simply didnt like shitty games, writing and DEI, while being fleeced dry like they owe the mob money with the DLC crap they always pull
and I just hope the people who keep supporting activision finally wake up and start doing the same
as the only reason the game industry is in such a state is because they stopped making the games to have fun first, and make money second
and did just like the movie industry did where they eliminated their bread and butter, their smaller projects that other studios could have free rein to do, that were cheaper and faster to put out, which used to make up 90% of the market
now all they do is fund the big hitters and then wonder why they dont make money, as their development teams are all straped out of ideas given they never get to do anything fun to recharge their batteries and are forced out to meet all these scheduels because of the poor state of game development
where they always have to overdo the graphics infavor of the art style, which makes everything take 8 years now
with bad management and misunderstanding of the product at large and how to treat their workforce to get a good product out
hell even look at the name, EA, Electronic Arts, that used to have the subtitle of the aliance of electronic artists
and all they did in the 2000's was put them out of business, like the only people who have any brains, balls and sense are valve, like they actually leveled with their fanbase recently about what the hell happened with half life 3
and were just honest with everyone, and the results have been nothing but positive, while even rockstar has their head up their ass now
where instead of letting these people have a new GTA 6 trailer or some small gameplay clip to keep them busy as a nice chrismas gift, they stayed silent, and let the speculators drive everyone nuts while shutting down mods people really needed to keep busy until 6 was ready
where even the mod team of Vice City Next Gen is like we appreciate and love the developers of this game, but the people publishing it can get f'ucked
also Hasbro Sold off Galoob I think, and theirs not a person from the 90's who wouldnt buy a reissue of their older stuff if they made it nowdays
like I still have some of their star trek stuff that was surprisingly well done for what it was, like hell even the Enterprise D looks like a dead Ringer for the 2 foot model they actually used on the show just in microform
and they did that in the 90's
also videogames mixed in with the actual stuff, like a micromachines world just like lego island would be genius,
The CEOS Need to he fired now!
They are dying because of the absolute dog shit piece of shit games their diversity hire devs dumped out on 2024

When you license production, you’re pushing the cost off to someone else, which increases the price to the end consumer.

It's for Disney.

I doubt they will stop Transformers or G.I. Joe any time soon. Also, not a good time to get into games. I guess we will see.
IIRC Hasbro has the Marvel license until 2026 not sure about the rest
If they lose it, I hope Jada Toys wins the bid for Marvel. I'd love X-Men figures with ball-jointed waists and diaphragms. Think "domestic Mafex" figures.
@@collegerebelhonestly same i'd love to see Jada Toys do full 6 inch Marvel figures (they did do some Marvel minis and cars but they aren't my cup of tea)
That and the fact that we may see Marvel Mafex, SHF, etc pop up at stores like Target and Walmart
I like transformers as much as the next guy… but like $500 for Bumble Bee is insane
For $500 he better transform into an actual Volkswagen for me to drive to work in. 😂
Hasbro already started a Transformers video. Which failed. Over 7 years in development and nothing really to show for it. Supposedly the game company that was making it, just took the money and ran away with it. Another Transformers video game is supposedly in development with another company. We'll see how that turns out.
Is there anything that doesn't suck now? God I feel old.
LJN started out as a toy company too, and we all know how that worked out!
Good. The mountain of plastic waste they’ve produced should be a serious environmental hazard.
Funko shit is dumb too
As someone who grew up in the 2010's era of toys. We don't ever see stuff I grew up with. And it'll probably be 20's to hit the toy isle next
Wait... you're telling me Disney switching their Marvel and Star Wars movies from the male demographic to specifically man-hating feminists... isn't paying dividends? Alienating little boys by making movies that denigrate men while still expecting those same men to buy merchandise from said film... is NOT paying off? Are you saying that taking two franchises, Star Wars and Marvel, both purchased because Disney had no male-focused properties at all in their portfolio, then poisoning both by pumping them full of feminist toxicity until they're unprofitable... ISN'T a recipe for success? Wow, mind blown.
All while weeb loving Tomy keep pushing out something much nicer.
I mean we got enough to last us to the apocalypse 😂😂😂
''losing hasbro is good for collectors, they put in the bare minimum''
like playmates wont make way worse
"Ah, sugar, you just go ahead and make whatever changes you think are best, you'll do great, I promise!"
- Mattel 🤣
I wish my local Ollies would get in as much stock as yours does. I always see some items I would buy in your videos that aren't available at the local one.
People like TikTok and Roblox I think this is gonna be bad
They make a shit ton of stuff no one wants. And the ones people want they barley make enough of
Hasbro couldn't even get Transformers Rise/Reactivate out the door.
Let’s not forget who put Toys R Us out of bidness 😂
Maybe when they fail completely I can buy the rights to GI Joe.
As usual the CEO's have NO IDEA what the customers want. And that's going to cost them.
Thanks again dude, I need the entertainment, was at the eye doctor today and got anti-virals, my eye is so borked :(
