Beirut is the most inspiring and beautiful band ever heard. The music changes the atmosphere, you live in another world for a few minutes, you feel like another person. Sadly, I don't know anyone in my environment, who listens to Beirut, but I must honestly say, that I enjoy it to listen alone.
the most beautiful thing ive seen in my whole life.. if i could be there with that people, with that music, that sky, that sea, in that place, in that moment... i could die happy.. perfect.. perfect.
this video+song has a really strong waking life feel to it. not necessarily as the discussions go, but more so the transition sequences where the kid floats across the city. just the blurry floating camera showing the city lights, accompanied by the violin.
It's cool when an musician can change the mood of an ambient just by playing a nice song. Does anybody know where can I find more live and spontaneous performances like this one?
My Friend Hector Jenkins has Informed me that this Mindblowingly beautiful Song was written about a Young Girl who fell In love with a Married Man. She realised It was a Wrong Emotion but She Couldn't Stop her Heart Loving this Man. When her Pain was Too much she Approached the Man and Made her feelings Clear for him, but he Laughed at her and told her to grow up. She couldn't bear his rejection and threw herself
this is unbelievably good, i love his face when the camera pans in, you can see how into it he is and im totally feeling the same feeling he is when i listen to this. so so good.
i cant stop listening to it , its just so beautiful.

The sounds of their music have croosed the big ocean and the mountains to came to me, here in the Andes of Colombia, when our spirits resounds in their strings
Thank you for posting this. I had the pleasure of attending their show last week, and they are absolutely mind blowing! Zach falls nothing short of genius.
these people don't play songs they play emotions......i know that sounds hipster...but i truly mean it....their songs make me feel love, sorrow, and everything in between.....nuf said
I am honestly in love with the set that they decided to place this into. The beginning shot of the city needs to be captured on a higher quality picture, because it looks like something straight out of an apocalypse movie. Perfect song from a perfect band for the perfect backdrop. (5 stars)
He does. He used to live in Paris with his brother (Ryan, if i remember well) and...you know...he's got some kind of amazing european style....thank god! =)
This seems to have been recorded on a (pretty much...) abandoned place on the south side of the Tagus river, from which you have an amazing view of Lisbon, where St Apollonia is located (although it is dificult to see it from there...). You have some elements of Portuguese tradicional music on this.. imagining this being played on that place just made me love even more Beirut. Music just doesn't get much better than this...
The backdrop is a view of Manhattan skyline, seen across the Hundson River from Brooklyn. You see the Empire State building beyond the four Con Ed smoke stacks.
as h0bs said one comment before: "It's filmed in Brooklyn, which is where they filmed all the other songs on the album apart from the 2 that were part of Les Concerts À Emporter by La Blogotheque."

his happiness at 2:20 brought tears to my eyes. absolutely wonderful.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Do you know that feeling when something is so beautiful, it's too much to handle? Well, I do now.
Incrível, tanto as música, quanto a melodia, quanto as vozes, quanto os instrumentos, quanto o local do clip. Incrível Incrível

i burst into tears once when i was listening to Beirut. they really bring everything i'm feeling
simply... wonderful. I seriously have no further words. purely beatiful.

this version is better than the one on the album, especially the abrupt ending.

Great to have musicians that love the music they make themselves. Not just money and hits.Lovely song and great musicians.
Thank you for posting this. I had the pleasure of attending their show last week, and they are absolutely mind blowing! Zach falls nothing short of genius.
