    Great video - thanks for sharing your processes and thoughts! For anyone wondering - the weirdness with mixing Vallejo and Tamiya products comes down to their base material - Vallejo (and Games Workshop's Citadel paints) are water-based, where other brands like Tamiya, Gaia Notes, AK Interactive, Molotow chrome pens etc. are either oil (e.g. enamel) or alcohol-based. Many of these brands will have the word "acrylic" on the bottle, but it won't mean they are compatible with other "acrylic" brands and can cause lots of confusion and messed up paint work! The thinners for water-based paints would be similar to the actual paint, with a thinner consistency, little smell and no pigment. Check your bottles carefully for things like "thins with water" or "thins with alcohol" (isopropyl) or "thins with mineral spirits" (white spirits/turps). AK paints can be tricky as their range has both water-based paints similar to Vallejo, and enamel paints which need to be thinned with spirits - make sure you check the label so you don't buy the wrong type!

    I know after I started to build kits again. My mind got a lot clearer, I was less stressed out form work and physical pains my body was causing me. I was finally able to relax and just go with the flow and chill. Which is why I enjoy your content so much.

    As a brown man who just got into Gunpla this was dope to see, this was also my first gunpla & ive bought it 3 times did some kit bashing and wanted an extra gun. I love gunpla i get right into im a heavy weed smoker and i can spend hours focused on my gunpla without even thinking of smoking

      My goal is to customize the army of SD's, since they sit in front of all the larger gunpla....., but there are so many things to do between here and there. You might enjoy Toon Tanks. They are real wwII tanks, but chibi. If you are in the states, then Hobby Lobby has 3 diff. models and you can use a coupon to get em for about $8. No glue, but nippers a must!!!!

    Great Video as always dude.
    Can I add a couple things to this video just from personal experience.
    1. Make sure the filter on your mask is good for the type of gases/paints you use A2 should be suffice.
    2. I live in the UK and it's pretty moist most of the time, so I place a fresh bit of paper towel in my moisture trap on the compressor (I just blow through air every time I add new bit to remove and loose fibres).
    3. Guys if you're new to AB (airbrush painting) don't be scared to mess up, you can always strip and restart, every kit you paint will give you new perspective and you'll improve on your next kit.
    4. If you make your own custom paint WRITE THE RATIO DOWN!! making small samples and trying to replicate what you did from memory is a nightmare :)
    5. Buy some plastic spoons from anywhere and use those for practice and paint combinations, you can always strip and reuse them, or just use them to test of your ratio after mixing is good.

    • @AllHailShadow117
      @AllHailShadow117 4 года назад +1

      His first for airbrushing but I believe he has done some for spray painting(not sure tbh) and some for LEDs but the older ones have definitely aged but still aren’t half bad. This is probably the best though especially since it is the primary focus of the video.

    I started gunpla about 20 years ago, SD grade really really came a long way. I remember it was literally waist then foot, ow it has legs with joints. was into HG about 10 years ago. and MG in recent years. My friend got me a SD RX78-2. I feel like I will go back kto SD for a while, it looks good to have a MG and SD next to it.

    Great work, I suggest grabbing some metal polish compound like Brasso (Walmart) and going over the needle with a cloth and the compound to shine it up (Low speed dremmel with a polishing pad and the compound works best). Work it good and do it regularly and eventually it'll get better and better. It's what separates the cheapo airbrushes from the premium ones. All airbrush pieces are pretty much made in the same plant the difference between say an Iwata and a Master is the amount of finishing said airbrush receives before being labeled and shipped. You can make a 20 brush perform like a 200 dollar one by honing the insides and finishing up that needle. You can see dotted speckled over spray on your pieces and that comes through in the paint, 2 or 3 minutes with some Brasso and that will fade away dramatically until you end up with a really good turned and polished needle. No coarse materials though, just the compound and some cotton cloth or better yet polishing pads on a dremmel.
    P.S Really loved how you lit up the eyes and the Propulsion, awesome little kit with that touch. I might go Pico's with my RG kits not sure yet ;) Great work man!!

    something else to consider with a top coat, if you use flat it will make your surface look darker as there is less light being reflected off the surface, gloss coat doesnt really change it and semi gloss is like your happy medium.

    Something that I learned from Child of mecha is to use Mr. Leveling Thinner with Tamiya, it works a lot better that the tamiya thinner and it causes the paint to dry faster. Also want to add that you should consider getting n air compressor with a tank. You'll get a consistent flow of air.
