Joe Biden followed that with another $100+ BILLION to Iran in the last couple years.

      @@SkrixFox The real problem with Afghanistan, as we'd been telling the Muricans, was that Pakistan played USA like a fiddle. Gave shelter to Quetta Shura (it is in the damn name FFS!) while embezzling weapons from USA by holding their GLOCs hostage. You cannot defeat an active insurgency without destroying it at its root/source. The same problem we've been having in Kashmir, only that we've gotten so good at stemming infiltration and local radicalization that the insurgency has reduced from a raging inferno to a smouldering ember.
      Was also not a good idea to have your own puppet blatantly running the government in Afghanistan, sidelining the likes of Saleh and instead of leveraging the ethnic divide and building a Tajik-Hazara-Uzbek alliance to rule over the Pashtuns. Also, instead of leveraging the Soviet-trained manpower, using fresh recruits for the ANA. So many issues.

    It looks like the little black nose on the torpedoes is going to be part of a passive acoustic sensor. It listens for propeller noises for homing/tracking, and so it's not suitable for attacking harbors. It goes to the noisiest example of its tuned match/model by FFT, so it can be done on an arduino, instead of a billion dollar navy sonar (epic ripoff). It also can't tell one ship from another, because it's just looking for "Yup. That's a propeller of a large commercial vessel."... Still technically better than a billion dollar navy sonar system, because an arduino costs $40 and a billion dollars of these hootie torps can remove every ship within range of its launch, due to consumables exhaustion.
    Of course, I made all that stuff up, but show me something in this bizarre scenario that isn't. Hooties have no chip fabs. They have no torpedo factories. A few weeks ago, they were launching bottle rockets, and now they have smooth, shiny, waxed torps on display that outperform humans that had this same job in WWII. I would love to say "I'm not buying it", but I guarantee I have, without my consent.

    I'm not sure why we haven't. Those ships aren't in transit, they are essentially committing or enabling piracy, and since Iran denied any involvement they can either prove it with an inspection or force them to take a stand. Even China is getting annoyed by these attacks.

What I'd like to know is why the Captain of the ship decided to sail two thirds around the world (around Cape Horn, across the entire Pacific and Indian Oceans and then up through Suez into the Mediterranean) to Bulgaria! The iranian "civilian" ship that says it is "civilian" but giving military data, doesnt that breach the Geneva Conventions of using civilian as shields or what it is called? I mean, looking on the Gaza and Isreal, I know it is a far cut but it is related to what is happening in the Red Sea. The Israeli Intel Core had reported that Hamas (Or the others) had been using buildings like schools, religious buildings and so on as storage or firing points for their rockets. Which under the Geneva Conventions does state as a civilian and there by not allowed to be attacked under the law of War. It also stated that if any military uses or goes into one such building, it nullify the "protective statues".
    With that, if they suspect that Saviz is spying and helping Houthis with data as military, then the navies in the area should be cleared to board or stop it to check or force it away. Their claimed protective statues as civilian is then nullified by the Geneva Conventions and should be a fair game as a military target

    • @tomriley5790
      @tomriley5790 4 месяца назад +4

      Yes if it's used for miltiary purposes then it's a military target. However the question is do you want to go to war. Similarly NATO resources are undoubtably passing targetting data to Ukraine, attacking the Iranian ones would give Russia a precedent which they're great at twisting to their advantage (most of their invasions in the last 2 decades have used the precedent of Kosovo/Libya).

I know that Iran is more or less doing the same thing here as well.

      @@tomriley5790 Seems a silly question to ask when the Houthis and Iranians are already behaving as though they are at war. Not sure how they have managed to spin the propaganda so much that literally deliberately shooting at unarmed, nonthreatening, neutral merchants is more or less normalized in some peoples' minds. I thought we lived in a world in which a live-fire shot aimed at a noncombatant was in itself an act of war. As such, the Houthis have effectively unilaterally declared war against a wide range of countries, and I don't see why they shouldn't be treated as such.
      Russia, and China, and Iran, and several other such states have demonstrated with increasing regularity that, though they will pay lip service to "precedent," they don't really care beyond whether they think they can get away with something, in a very stripped-down practical sense. My overarching question here is why we the collective rest of the world have largely allowed them to get away with it without effective deterring consequence, and why so many nations continue to treat them as more or less good faith actors despite such overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
