When I've heard that "ethics are holding you down" I felt my braincells escape. I feel like prof.Raptor had a good point with "party balance" actually limiting not one person, or few dynamics but the whole party, big win for him.

"They're all just misunderstood" trope.
LET some things be static, it makes being in a world with primordial forces that embody the essence of an element or emotion more interesting because you can't change them as a player.

My paladin is the kurgan ..lawful evil.. he is rude and brash but he Abides to his code.. though do not show him any aggression or his glaive will cleave.

Worst dnd trope is the player who only cares about story and not at all about mechanics. The kind who wants zero complexity and no math in their dnd.
