Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was one of the shining lights of Pakistan, a Qawwali Shahehshah whose talent was heralded both locally and globally. To celebrate the legend that still lives 19 years on, Coke Studio presents
Afreen Afreen, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Momina Mustehsan, Episode 2, Coke Studio 9
Music Directed by Faakhir Mehmood
Produced by Strings
The beautifully crafted ‘Afreen Afreen’ sung two decades ago by the legendry, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan still holds the strength to serenade the audience with its poetic and soothing sensibilities. The reformation of the track on Coke Studio - arranged by Faakhir Mehmood and performed by maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and debutant, Momina Mustehsan - transforms the Qawwali seamlessly into an unplugged track. Within the genre, the atmosphere of the song remains ambient and acoustic, as the bare minimum elements give room to Rahat’s majestic vocals to improvise the mastery he possesses. Momina enters the song as she punctuates the additional melody with her laid-back effortless velvety vocals. Towards the end, the track is perfectly complimented with the incredible drum roll and a hyper groove as the traditional ‘Afreen Afreen’ chants are delivered with heartfelt emotion and melodic panache.

In Sri Lanka there is a proverb saying, "Playing violin for deaf elephants is useless".... and that's what exactly this situation is.
IT LIKE " BHAINS KE AAGE BEEN BAJAANA" TYPE!!
So true man 😂😂😂😂
They don't even know who they are dealing with
Us Indian subcontinent civilization took 5000 years to create this style of music, they will take at least 50 years to understand 5% of it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣👌👌
True 🤣
Foreigners calling a raag ‘metal’ is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day
@MsAminaShah No knowledge about anything , I'm not Indian,I'm Srilankan, I don't understand what he sings about,...but i love it.They are sooo simple minded.
@@zarag1621 yeah even I dint have the knowledge but pretty sure raag is a way to train ur vocal chords and basically make ur singing efficient and makes a good warm up.
True
Who are these people to even comment on Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. They can't even reach the dust of his musical feet.
Aroush Hashir exactly
Hehe..yes they said good singer😂😂
😂😂 yes
So true. To these people, only beat is everything. Music is a passion and what Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a legend. The amount of vocal training and dedication!!
Ustaad*

Rudra Jadon thanks love from Pakistan

I agree
Only PAkistani and Indian's can recognize the beauty of this song :) PAKISTANI COKE STUDIO IS THE BEST !
No, people that know about music know this is gold, check some vocalists reacting to it, they appreciate it more.
This is a coke studio india....
@@RohanSharma-fv9lf brother with all due respect . Its coke studio Pakistan 😊
I like every pletfrom but i don't like your country.....👎👎👎
@@RohanSharma-fv9lfone point you should listen people of any place are never wrong. There are exceptions .
Even in India, Pakistan's coke studio overshadow's Indian counterpart easily.
This song is just on another level.
Indian coke studio is only ruining Classics where they are making it better. I heard Chal tilak original was way better.
Well idk much about the indian coke studio but this song is dayummmm. I didn't get their reactions but well different perspectives, right?
Yeah
“What’s the drummer nodding at?” That’s appreciation and passion dude. Something that you can’t seem to feel. He has a soul unlike you.
Music is not always about beat. The amount of vocal training and dedication these singers have towards music is unbelievable.
✅
Big fan of coke studio Pakistan 💗 love from India
And there is a reason Pakistani Coke studio has more IMDB rating than Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad 😉😄😄
American Enigma _ yeah because only Pakistanis rate coke studio,
don't you dare compare BB and GOT with this!
funny bones bro have some humor sense😂 , although It's true on IMDB the rating is more than GOT and BB , but that's just a joke coz COke studio is Music Studio and GOT / BB are TV SHOWS , apples and oranges bro , I am die hard got/ bb fan so learn to chill 😄😄
funny bones its not only Pakistani rating coke studio. our indian bro and sis are much more rating our coke studio. u need more knowledge.
This is so painful to watch, these white people will never know true music with passion, very offended at the moment..
I dont know why they r even reacting. They dont have any idea abt classical songs except shouting and hip hop. 😂😂😂
i am indian and once i punched my friend for insulting Pakistani Coke studio. *salts* it was worth it .
AMIT Kumar And for these reasons, i really wish Pakistan and India would stop fighting
that will never happen cause India is just too stupid

@@allisonburgers6939 hey I dislike this reaction but zayn has great voice for a western singer
my dear foreign friends he is known as Rahat Fatah Ali Khan. he is one of the super best singers in the world. almost whole of the Asia especially Pakistan, india, Bangladesh Afghanistan listen him the most.
khursheed malik u forgot to mention Nepal. Nepalese do listen him. Absolute legend.

" How come Pakistani music is like this " lol, if only he knew Pakistani coke studio is the best music studio in the whole continent , everybody loves it 😜
American Enigma _ you Are right
true.
Javed Aktar was the writer so its not pakistani its INDIAN
By the way urdo is a minority language in pakistan
Arunabha Das The Singers And the Music Producer is Pakistani So its Pakistani :)
how is that so?
javed Akter indian and pakistani at the same time
Interesting to watch the reaction but I think only desis can truly appreciate the power of Rahat's voice, the deliberate mellowness of this song, the beautiful Urdu language and the passionate and poetic lyrics sung. I think most westerners prefer upbeat music you can dance to which is fair enough.
My reaction to this reaction, Western people need to educate themselves. I completely understand the cultural and language barrier, might have personal likings in music, but that man holds the title of 'Ustaad'. You need years of training to get that title and to do what he is doing there. Judging him can offend a lot of people, keep that in mind.
Coke Studio is soo good! Especially Pakistans
Couldn't have agreed more
These people have absolutely zero qualification to assess Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
You're talking about someone trained from the age of 8 for decades by another maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
What he forgot about music these may never learn even in 7 reincarnations.
This is not just singing for such artists, it is a spiritual practice....
I can only quote the proverb "Bandar kya jaane adrak ka swad"
Of course i agree
They r just for milking frm country -no feel for Godly music😣😣😣😣
Good singer dude he is a legend u knw south Asia's music is the best music in the world and my country nd my neighbor country's Pakistan music is the best no othere country compete with us irn music n yes m from india but i lyove Pakistani music too nd i love Pakistan too i also want to visit Pakistan one day

I am an Indian, n Indian Subcontinent loves This Man Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and this song is My Favourite THATS IT!!!
English people have a problem with the slow pace but Adele, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith are the most famous singers from Britain. Ironical.
Britain's taste for the music is cancerous. Lol as an indian, I'm just speechless because the way he sung the music OMG, So much overpowered and relaxed at the same time. Anyway it's my opinion. Don't hate me over this, I dunno why no one understands the feels of this music.
I'm sorry for them that they cannot understand this but I'm happy that we can.
dude..in my opinion, britain's taste for music is completely different from pakistan's..both of them are great in their own sense and its better not to compare..i dont know if you have been living under a rock or something but ..britain has been the landmine of fantastic music..be it pink floyd, queen, beatles, led zeppelin, rolling stones, deep purple ..list of endless..these are just the most popular ones
g s yeah but I mentioned that it's my opinion, I never said Britain singers were bad. I just think they like party songs, I like it too but relaxing songs like these are love.
shruti swaroop you are absolutely correct... we also listen to english musics... but we are mature and talented enough to understand their music and to see the beauty in it.. but i guess these people lack the same.. coz al dey care about is "BEATS" i mean WTF...
Hey.. sm1 is dying.... i dont care, i love my beats.
i just had a break-up... i dont care, i love my beats.
i am missing my family.... i dont care, i love my beats.
its tym to pay tribute to our army.... i dont care, i love my beats.
another terror attack on humans... i dont care, i love my beats.
go and fucking die with your beats
Saquib Akhtar let's not hate others man, they have their likings, just chill. They have their opinions.
It's not the Pakistani way of singing, it's language of Urdu, which is so pleasing to the ears and so beautiful on the tongue. And really do you guys not tell them background of the singers, RFAK has 600 years of Qawals behind him, the original UNFAK was known was the king of Qawals, the most beautiful voice to bless this earth.
Afreen Afreen is a classic, this song has passed through generations and still holds up, i remember listening to it when i was about 12-13, and at 30 it still makes me fall in love again. The end 'where it got fast is called a 'Sargam' (pronounced ser-gum) and is usually made on the spot by the artist, as and what they feel like, it can be as long or extremely short like the one in the video, but sometimes it can be as long as 5-10 minutes, and is honestly the best part of traditional music.
A sargam is basically the 7 notes, Sa, Re Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Si) arranged in different order, over and over again, similar to scatting.
Whoever you're I've one complain, write down all the details about south asian music because these people are bloody idiots...
You've to explain everything to them......
Just go a lil easy on these fools.
I APPRECIATE YOUR GREAT EFFOERT MAN!!!
I AM A CLASSICAL SINGER AND I AM LISTENING AND MASTERING THIS QAWAALI SINCE I WAS 9 YRS OLD....RIGHT NOW I AM 20.
THEY DONT GIVE A S**T ABOUT YOUR COMMENT....BECUZ THEY WANT TO STICK TO THEIR BLODDY WESTERN NON MEANING-FULL, FULL OF SWEARS WAALE SONGS!!!!
SO PLS DONT EVER WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME ON THESE BASTARDS!!!!
"It just doesn't get them going" lol
I think you should have an open mind to music...there's more than dance, rock n roll and rap on this planet...
come on only good singer to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan? gosh He's our LEGEND...
B.T.S A.R.M.Y im an Army toooo❤❤❤

Coke Studio Pakistan..!!! Love from India..!!! :)
This is a disaster reaction, my apologies, but there’s a cultural and language barrier here. I think you guyies should stick to western music only. 😑
I agree..
so true
I agree.. Or may be they could pay attention to the lyrics
Agreed
True
Are u mad people....???!!This song is the most beautiful song I have ever heard....Rahat fahteh ali khan & mumena mushtehsan sung it very beautifully..you people don't know any thing about music...fools..
The Legend 😍
Yes
they would probably not listen this because they cannot feel this song. while we people are crazy about it
Dear Head Spread, do not react on the things that are not your cup of tea. Otherwise, this is a song which Pakistanis and Indians are crazy about these days. No offence please. I just wanted you to know that.
The Pakistani coke studios have done a great job, the singers are just awesome , love from India .... Keep it up Pakistan...
Ohhhh mera Pakistan 🇵🇰💕💕

agreed lol
True 😂
Exactly
He is a good singer really he is a legend he is awesome we love him hit the like button if you are from india and Pakistan
She was looking at him like that because she looks up to him as a senior singer
Songs like these are more close to the culture of the subcontinent..the lyrics the style of singing everything..so of course they wont appreciate it as much as say Pakistanis and Indians etc would..so why not show them videos they can relate and enjoy to save them the embarassment?
abcd123 56 there is no embarrassment, they don't like it when they are not used to of that way of singing :p
aymen capsicum yes hence the embarassment..they can't heartily praise it cause they are clueless about the style neither can they say they outright hate it cause well they're on youtube so..its better to react to genres they are a little familiar with maybe
abcd123 56 maybe but don't you think reacting to Pakistani music should mean actual Pakistani music and not just the genre they'd understand.... its ok if they don't get it no one is judging them for it,
aymen capsicum Yeah I would love to see actual desi stuff but seeing their past videos most of them seem not so interested to watch new videos of other cultures or look forced sometimes..not all of them though..only some of them take the effort to understand what actually is being shown thats all
abcd123 56 and its fine.... afterall people that we need to be fascinated by our culture is ourselves ❤
i hope these guys googled Rahat to find out just who he is....he's not just "good" he's one of the best.
You are also beautiful
When he said that he is a good singer in deep I am dead 😂😂😂,he is ustad Rahat fate ali khan .ustad memes master
It's funny that these people are judging ustad Rahat ji, while they cannot even tell which scale he was singing in😂😂😂😂
You want upbeat song 😜react to
GARAJ BARAS - ( Best Rock fusion , it has crazy Guitar playing in it ) u must do this
MEIN RAASTA - Momina (it's a Rock Song )
AAQA - Abida Parveen ( upbeat soulful fusion)
KHAKI BANDA - ( upbeat fusion )
TERA WO PYAR- ( upbeat love song )
Thumbs up if u think they should do Coke studio react series
American Enigma _ yes , garaj baras song is really good
American Enigma _ Yes I think they will like khaki banda it's an amazing fusion of sufi and rock and sammi meri waar coke studio is also quite interesting even though it's based on a folk tale the music is great !
American Enigma _ yeah throw in Sami meri waar,
Americans can't feel these songs like we do. Its not their fault that they can't. We should not force them to react on the things that they cannot even understand what they actually are.
Khaki Banda word..... and be angry if they say they don't like it, its not their cup of tea,
Indian and a huge coke studio fan 😍 Pakistan, good one
Extraño Mickey 😍
Nice
Like a 2 year old checking advance calculus paper 🤣🤣
If you look at the expression of female singer she is also amazed by the voice of great singer (legend) rahat Fatah Ali Khan. It is a privilege for her to sing with him
"he's a good singer" Duh! of course he is 🙄
When you don't know..don't judge..
Last of this song called sargam.. most difficult part of classical music.. he is one of the great sufi classical playback singer of pakistan but also loved by india
these types of song are not just about music , its also about lyrics and its meaning!
love u my pakistan
Downloading that shit right fucking now. 👌
"Pakistanio ye log aisi music ki kadar nahi kar sakte. Inko sab me 'dhik chik dhik chik' chahiye." 😂
It takes one with real passion and understanding to appreciate Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and this song in specific. Which was unfortunately lacking in this video.
The final upbeat part is what is called a "Sargam". It's unique to music from Indian subcontinent. Basically the singer goes bonkers spelling out the notes. So he was singing sa(do) re(re) ga(mi) me(fa) pa(so) dha(la) ni(ti) and mixing it up and shredding it... same way you'd hear guitar shredding with superfast notes all in the same key.
Coolest part is that this is always done on the spot. It's done to showcase the singer's control over notes and to give a happy surprise to the audience.
This is my fav song from all seasons of pak coke studio. Originally sung by the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (uncle of the singer here, Rahat F.A.K) & written by Javed Akhtar (prominent Indian lyricist). Everytime I listen to it, I can only wonder at the artistic talents of these two great pple.
This is artistic music not a dance number's, not every song is meant to upbeat.
I am Indian,, I have listened this song many times. it is not getting out of my head...and the people who know this Hindi language or Urdu,,they can feel the this song ..really,it brings tears in eyes..Let me mention you, lyrics of this are of Indian musician and the singers are Pakistani... and the male singer Is gem of Pakistan.. he has heart touching voice...
Not me wanting to listen to their views and end up singing and enjoying the song, this song still gives me chills while listening to. I don't think they know what they are talking about. I really appreciate good singers and many of them are Pakistani.
The thing is this song is more related to Pakistani culture and all about praising the Lord. Of course due to the language barrier they won't understand the true meaning of the song unless some back info is provided to them. Would love to see them react to some rock Pakistani songs (preferably Rockstar by Ali Zafar)
Nonetheless, enjoyed the video!
Its not about praising god its about praising a girl's beauty ...
Look at other foreigners reacting to this song, they love it! And their reaction is actually very good.
Related to pakistani but written by Indian😎
Gareeb engineer jelce
Rashid Mehmud what is Jelce??? Kindly explain..I could not find the word in Oxford dictionary..So may be you are a language genius..
Big up James for spotting how hard it is to sing at that level. It takes years of practise to sing like that
Original and honest reaction, respect from Pakistan.
Its quite funny that although its a reaction video, I am not listening to a single comment they are making on this video. Instead I am listening to the song! Loved the original and loved this version as well!
i am proud to be say this song is from our country
very nice song sir. ...thanks for coming to our university Islamabad on 3rd March. ..we shall be waiting for you impatiently
In the end part male vocalist sang the musical Notes which in hindi/Urdu is known as "SA RE GA MA PA DA NI SA" similar to English octave called as "Do,RO,MI,FA,SO,LA,TI"
I just can't start my day without seeing Momina Mustehsan.I just think of you all the time.I love you that much that it can be described in any language.Keep smiling and blessed always..😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
James seems like the kind of guy to lowkey listen to really really hardcore devil-rock music...

Hello from Stourbridge uk, just subscribed to your channel.
Indian Classical music is one of the best drug for your health and mind
u should reaction to more Pakistani videos
Good song coke stodge
mani haider for God sake no!
There are few pakistani songs that I always thought they are indian songs.
This is in fact Indian song sang by Pakistani singer.. Just google it.
No bro this song was first sung by nusrat fateh ali khan.
Prakash Singha.. nusrat fateh ali khan was a Pakistani singer.... Not indian
Yah but the writer of the song was Indian and the album too
The writer of the song is Indian and the production company of the album Sangam was also Indian and label was that of a British company. Just because u let a Pakistani actress act in an Indian movie doesn't make it a Pakistani movie.. similarly jst letting a Pakistani singer sing song written by Indian writer for Indian album doesn't make it Pakistani .
In India we havea saying too 'Bhains ke aage been bajaana' - translates to 'playing a flute to a Buffalo' meaning - to show something priceless & meaningful to an idiot is useless.
Thanks for the compliments.
"What's the drummer nodding at?" LMAO.
i think u guys don't understand what he sing in last.
SA. ,RE. ,GA. ,MA. ,PA. DA NISA means like u guys sing in english DO. ,RE ,MI. ,FA. ,SO. ,LA ,TI
This Ustar Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The word "Ustad" stands for Master. Oxford University have a rehearsal hall named after this living legend to honor his mastery of vocal music.
i was listening that song 😍 and their reactions were missed so I watched it again for their reactions 😮
When someone is invited to give their reaction they should really perform some primary research! They are talking about legends here. And yeah one of you were right BRITS cannot sing or even imagine singing this way.
Not a good reaction, not their fault either. Can't really translate this exquisite poetry. I recommend not watching this. What's the worst that could happen!
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY BRO...?
All i can say is Everything is not very Every one .
Who understand its lyrics its pure gold for them .
The song written by JAVED AKHTAR an Indian, in a mixed language Urdu and Hindi composed and sung by a great pakistani singer Rahat fatah ali khan, son of a legendary singer Nusrat fatah ali khan sahab. There is so much similarities in Indian and Pakistani music as pakistan had been part of INDIA for thousands of year.
DAMN THEY SHUD AVE BEEN SHOWED GARAJ BARAS INSTEAD !! THEN THEY WUD AVE KNOWN WAT REAL HIGH NOTES REALLY ARE !! :D
Pakistan's singing is good ❤️

kieran is my favorite guy here....cool and calm☺
Momina Mustehsan is ❤️
it's quite natural to find it hard to absorb a music you are not used to listen...the song was originally sung by a huge legendary singer nusrat fateh ali khan, many international leading musicians worked with nusrat fateh ali khan....i still like the effort you people put into listening this music.
Loads of love sir❤️..I love pakistani singers..Love frm india
