Great job I was waiting for someone to do this project on youtube i had made one for my drill press a few years back before they were posting them online mine did not come out as good as yours I think it is time for a rebuild Thanks for the great videos
Gday Ted, great build mate, Delrin is great to work with, big cuts aren’t a problem, I’ve got a quill wheel on my mill/drill and love, it’s a long way better the the 3 spoke handle, great job mate, cheers Matty
Thanks for your comment, Yep, a great mod. Lots easier to operate. Maybe if I turn the wheel fast enough it will think It's a Bridgeport like Yours lol
@@TedRoza Don't get me wrong, I really liked my RF clone. If I had space I would have kept both, ironically we're just now moving to a house with a bigger garage . . .
the pros to the steering wheel mod are obvious. But the cons are you can't ever get it out of the way and it's going to happen. At least with the 3 rods you could just remove em easily
G'day Bobby. Thanks for your comment, The wheel can be removed in a few seconds if necessary. The wheel is continuous circle for operation, whereas the single or 3 rod type have a movement flow limitation . In the end, It's up to the Individual what they feel ok with. Also you can use a smaller diameter wheel.
Hi Ted - good to see another pair of videos from you. I would like one of these wheels on my quill too. Did you see Ca Lem's video the other day on the same topic? (Except he used a cast alloy wheel). Nice work there too. Where's the best place to buy the steering wheel - one of the car shops like supercheap or somewhere online? Cheers, Craig
Hi Troy, Greatly appreciate your comments. I don't know where your location is, I am in Perth, Australia. I was lucky to be able to locate the Steering wheel from Super Cheap, which was a Wheel without an Install Kit, just the Wheel on it's own, ( sshhh don't tell anybody, LOL ) for the Great amount of $20..00 AU. or you can get one from a local car accessory shop, or vehicle being wrecked or where ever. Hope this helps
G’day Ted. Well done, the hub turned out great. That delrin is nice to work with but for the birds nest which is a nuisance.
Cheers
Peter
Thanks Peter glad you liked it.
